Slow40sx finally makes a build thread, if anyone cares, probably not

Ok so I've never made a build thread because I was pretty confident literally no one would give a fuck, but a few people asked so this is my build thread.

Keep in mind most of the pictures are shitty iphone pictures and a most of them are before and after pictures, i have very few during pictures but whatever.

My old external drive got fried by a power surge so this is the earliest picture i have of my car, its from 2007 even tho i picked the car up in 2006

It's a 1989 i picked up from a buddy, when i got it it had an S13 dual cam KA swap with a shitty custom exhaust and a gutted cat, no power steering, aem short ram intake, all emissions deleted, infinity G20/180sx type s/r/x wheels, kyb AGX shocks and s14 eibach sportline springs so it looked like it was on fucking stilts lol and kouki tail lights (which is the whole reason i got the car lol, total ricer i know). So i had it for about a month and left it with my older brother for a couple days so he could go get it state inspected for me while i was in school. Needless to say he flogged the fucking shit out of it for 2 days straight and blew it up. i know, super exciting right. I knew literally nothing about cars and i didn't know what to do, i didn't even know it was blown up, my buddy i bought it from had to tell me it was rod knocking LOL. So anyway a couple friends took pitty on me and when i found an s14 KA they helped me swap it in. I then bought a VLSD and the chuki half n half signals and heres where the pictures begin.

My next mods were E-fan, welded diff, s14 seatbelts, circuit sports aluminum coolant over flow, s13 cams, B&M short shifter, DiF aluminum air diffusion panel, 5lug, z brakes, and s14 wheels
(always was a sucker for an s13 on s14 se wheels)

By the end of 2008 i was sick of drifting with no power so ordered a redtop SR and yanked out the KA (this picture was actually taken with a fucking motorola razr LOL)

I stripped all the horrid black spray paint in the engine bay and had a buddy spray it bright purple with hot pink and dark purple flake, clean up the SR and put a circuit sports rocker arm stoppers in, got a greddy m spec intercooler kit that came with a lame ass HKS SSQV, Trust Airinx air filter, got an ss auto chrome tubular manifold, megan 3" elbow, CX racing 3" downpipe and test pipe, and a buddy club spec 2 exhaust (first gangster purchased lol) and i replaced the engine belts and got a Spec stage 3 clutch (best clutch ever for sub 400hp set ups)

The end of 09 i ended up taking my car to my first drift event with the SR and i sucked complete ass it was horrible and i blew my water pump after like 10 laps lol

The gp skirts were $50 and I already had the gp rear, the gt1 sides wouldn't flow with the gp rear and I didn't feel like buying the whole kit I just wanted the front bumper, I think it all flows nicely, and the underside of the hood will be painted soon

Yeah I've got mixed feelings about the purple too, my fiancée says it looks fucking stupid lol but I feel like it's almost like nostalgic for me since the bay has been like that since early 09 so it's kinda like hanging on to a chapter of the cars life, I know it sounds lame, in the next 2 years the car getting another color change on the outside, definitely re-spraying the bay not sure if I'm gonna do a color change or not yet but many things are going to change in the next year or 2 for sure

No that's not mine, unfortunately my car isn't that rad looking :( lol, and no it's not shine auto it's another knock off brand but it is the same style as the spec G kit since they're both copy's of GP sports, and thanks a lot man I'm glad you like the car :)

You put a 480k Ohms resistor in the knock sensors connector on the engine harness side and it makes the ecu read as if the knock sensor is still plugged in and working properly so you don't have to worry about the knock sensor going bad again making your car bog down low and act up, made my car run quite a bit better

Oh, that's cool. Don't think i've ever had knock sensor problems, it used to throw the knock sensor code all the time but it still ran fine, haven't checked it in forever haha.

Sooooo I took the car out the other night with some friends and really beat on it and I started getting really bad blow by from the crank case breather which usually means rings, so parked it, did a compression test 150, 142, 148, 148 which is not ideal but it passes for sure, not a single drop of oil in any of the cylinders and the car still rips hard, not entirely sure what's causing the oil out of the crank case breather but I want to drive my god damn car, so I went ahead and modded the valve cover to dump any oil coming from the crank case back into the head and it worked flawlessly, fuck an s13/14 hybrid valve cover lol

Yeah I'm just playin around, I like it too to be honest lol, but I didn't feel like spending 200 on a valve cover that I'm gonna cut up and then 100 to get it powder coated when I could spend a few bucks on some hoses, my buddy made me billet aluminum fittings to weld on the valve cover, made them on his lathe in his garage, so rad lol

It definitely made a huge difference for me, I'm gonna run it like this for a while and then check if there's any oil residue from the valve cover to the intake and if there is I'll throw a catch can on it, but so far it works perfectly

i wish i knew as well lol, i posted it in the identify this thread and no one could figure it out, i searched a couple hours every night for about a week when i first got it, came up with nothing, there are several wings that look sort of like it but definitely are not a match

Ok so on May 2nd I finally got married to the girl of my dreams and we ended up using my car as our "getaway car"

Now on our way home that night i hit a massive bump in the road so bad that it actually hurt and it sounded like something broke, but the car continued to operate properly dropping no fluids all the way home, the next day I took it out for a drive all seemed well except for a minor knocking sound on lock all the way to the left while moving but I didn't pay attention to it, now I want to start sliding my car again soon and the front is just a touch too low for me, it rubs the fenders really bad and that paint is less than a year old and it's so hard to find nice stock metal fenders I don't feel like buckling my fenders lol so I decided to raise the car up about a half inch in the front.

So I go ahead and lift the front up and take the wheels off and found that I had a broken sway bar end link, which was incredibly odd since I hadn't done any hard driving since I put the car back together. So i discovered that the clicking I was hearing was the sway bar rubbing the tire on lock since it wasn't attached on one end, so I bought new sway bar end links. Upon installing the end links I found the clupret to the broken sway bar end link and I was not amused.

Remember the giant bump I mentioned I hit on the way home from my wedding? Yeaaaah...

So a week later I got the pan off hammered out and re-installed, fixed the coilover, replaced the sway bar and the brackets and the end links, raised my car a half in (drives much better now) and I installed my oil catch can and all is luckily well again, I'm just glad the damage to the pan was so minor
