Hi guys. My name is Thomas and I figured I'd share my story. :drama:

Lets go back to 2008. I was in 10th grade and just turned 16. I decided to get a job and buy my "dream" car at the time... A S13 hatch. After a few months of saving up I picked her up.

*June 2008*
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/Picture004-3.jpg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/Picture004-3.jpg.html)

Finally picked her up.

Fast forward a few months... I was fortunate enough that my dad had a paint job done on the car through my uncles body shop. I painted it ultra red... Here it is with ricer tint.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/KAT4.jpg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/KAT4.jpg.html)

I drove it around 2008-2009 with a single cam. I got a better job at Sears and was making bank for my age. Decided to save up and buy a SR.

Here it is in the clip still at Elite JDM in Philadelphia.

Here it is almost completed and the bay painted in January 2010. This was the first swap my dad and I had attempted ever and it was quite the experience. We had a ton of fun.
https://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/910x683q90/39/gndo.jpg

April 2010 I buy a parts car for $600. Has Z brakes, 5 lug, and coilovers. Not bad right?
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/20100424162937.jpg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/20100424162937.jpg.html)

Heres the only picture of my car at the time that had everything swapped over...
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/Car.jpg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/Car.jpg.html)

It is now May 2010. My motor blows. FML. I'm 18 and not making much money... Here we are pulling it out again.
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/0510101923-00.jpg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/0510101923-00.jpg.html)

My dad being the person that he is decides to help me out and has the motor rebuilt for me.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/0miles.jpg

It is now April 2011. I rear end a van. I felt like my life was over. Since the 240 is made out of recycled soda cans, it was pretty messed up. Unfortunately no pictures, but I did receive a nice $5,000 back from insurance.

I ended up buying another shell and swapped what I could over.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/car2.jpg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/car2.jpg.html)

Bought some other things like replica mustang wheels, etc.

Was looking like this around August 2011 or so.

^Those pics were taken at the Wolfpack Drift Club Garage back in the OG days.

After a few blown T25's I just didn't know what to do anymore. I let my car sit. I was still making shit money sorta.

It is now May 2012. I land a paid internship at NIH (National Institutes of Health) and now I'm making some good money. I was actually delivering pizza in my S13 from April 2011-April 2012.

After letting the car sit for a while I started buying more stuff. This is around August 2012.

It is October 2012. Its been a month since I unexpectedly lost my father to a heart attack. The car was just sitting there and I didn't want to start it. After finally getting motivated I finish adding everything. It I start up the car and its smoking. :rant2: I figured its just been sitting so it needs to be driven and maybe it'll clear up. Wrong.

Long story short, my injector o-ring was torn. I check the oil and its all green and a bunch of funky colors. I change my oil and cross my fingers.

Nothing.

So now I have a motor with forged internals, 12,xxx miles, and smoking already.

January 2013, I pick up a blacktop from JEI in Sterling, VA.

I take the hatch to the Wolfpack Garage and get to town.

She runs flawlessly. Turbo seals are about to take a shit so it occasionally puffs out smoke, but idc. It sounded amazing!

I picked up a set of Blitz 03 for $500 and kouki tails as well.

The car was fun, but I ended up getting rid of the shell, selling the motor to Wolfpack, and kept everything else at my buddy Ivan's garage. Thanks Ivan!

It is August 2013, my smoking redtop never blew up. It just sat at the garage since it was taken out.

I decided I wanted to fix it. It meant a lot to me since my dad pretty much handed me the money to have it rebuilt. It would be a shame for it to go to waste.

I've always liked fast cars, so I wanted to build a fast SR. lol Picked up a couple items from Mazworx.
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/image1_zpsa93d6784.jpeg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/image1_zpsa93d6784.jpeg.html)

Here is the redtop taken apart.
http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r192/ramonesfreak2010/1E079249-27B7-4167-91A2-EC6D78DDAE9E-23289-0000049B0618A3DC_zps28d883b4.jpg (http://s144.photobucket.com/user/ramonesfreak2010/media/1E079249-27B7-4167-91A2-EC6D78DDAE9E-23289-0000049B0618A3DC_zps28d883b4.jpg.html)

I took it to the machine shop to have it inspected. Bearings were perfect, but piston rings were gas washed and the cylinder walls lost their "glaze". Also, the oil pickup in the oil pan was broken. Fortunately I didn't starve my motor to death.

Here it is November 2013.

Around December 2013, I picked up the VVL kit from Mazworx.
Here it is mocked up.

How was the fitment of the mazworx exhaust manifold? Any reason other than no v band you chose to not run it? Haven't seen any reviews on the mani at all, so was curious before I bought one. Keep it up man.

Since it didnt get sold. I'm actually moving ahead and to complete assembly of the SR20VE-T motor project. Depending on where it goes I may still considering selling the longblock after that or get a chassis to put it on. Either way if your build is an Average SR mine will be mediocre in comparison..

Hey guy not much of an update, but I received my manifold and turbo. I have it mocked up on my motor. Holy crap its huge! Things are a little slow right now since I am paying off this semester of school. I am picking up a rust free hatch shell from a friend for stupid cheap, so I have something to put this motor in... lol I'll be picking that up by the end of the month. Here are some pics.

I'm have a Z33 transmission and plan on using a exedy multi plate clutch kit.

As for oil ports, you simply need to feed oil the VVL solenoids and plug one hole in the block since it doesn't line up with the VE head.

Thanks for the words everyone. The build is slow, but progressing.

I bought this shell from my friend who bought my coupe. The driver side rear quarter panel is smashed from a hit and run, but other than that its a solid chasis.

Also picked this up for a steal! OEM bumper, OEM lip, extension pieces, turn signals, and some fiberglass rear valences for $400! Shoutout to JEI in Manassas, VA.

I am taking the car this Friday to my boys shop where I will be doing the work. Hopefully the motor is out the same day, so I can start prepping the bay.

I am also working with Yury at wiring specialties to have a harness done by him to work with AEM Infinity.

Updates this weekend!

So I started renting a garage where I could work on the car. I brought it over on the 13th and started stripping it down. The garage is very small, but doable. I had to improvise and hang shit up. lol

http://i.imgur.com/VurASqel.jpg

The motor was removed from the previous owner, so luckily, I avoided that job. Right now my main concern is to clean up the bay and strip it of everything I don't need. Also, I will be removing all the suspension on the car next weekend to get it ready for undercoating. I have a S14 subframe that I will be using instead of a S13. I have S14 knuckles at home that will be used. All I need is a S14 diff cover & arms. I have a Nismo 2-way diff waiting for me in my room.

Nice. Glad to see this updated. Are you going to use the SPL rear subframe conversion bushings? Those are the only one I know of.
Thanks man. And I'll be using GK Tech only because I will be purchasing their arms.

So I went to the garage this weekend and did some work. I pulled out the dash, so I could get access to the harness/plugs that run into the car from the bay.
http://i.imgur.com/Km1kqGHl.jpg

Also picked up this gem off eBay. Makes life a lot easier. I've got some big plans, so this will help me out a lot. :naughty:
http://i.imgur.com/NXxc2vQl.jpg

Once that was out, I pushed the car out the garage and gave it a good scrub. Not bad for years worth of grease and other shit thats been sitting in the bay. I don't have access to water, but fortunately it was POURING out. I put a 5 gallon bucket outside for about an hour and it almost filled up. lol
http://i.imgur.com/lpkXT7Ul.jpg
http://i.imgur.com/xxHils5l.jpg

FYI: Here's a backstory to the shell I bought. I bought the car off a friend for $400. She bought my old coupe because hers was hit in the rear, and wanted to swap everything over. I bought the car just for the shell, so I had to give back her 5 lug, suspension, and engine.

Here's the car without coilovers and hubs. I'm a sucker for hatches as you can see.
http://i.imgur.com/KDyYlr4l.jpg

Then I did a little bit of prep and sprayed the wheel wells with some 3M undercoat.

That's all for this weekend. :drama:

Man I don't even know where to begin with this update.

The build took a pretty big turn. I tried parting out everything, because honestly, I thought it was just too much. I did underestimate the cost of a top mount and VVL swap all done at the same time. lol

Anyways, I hadn't touched the car since June. I guess life happened. Too many bills, not enough money for play. Fast forward to late October/early November. My best friend was having the worst time trying to get rid of a coupe shell he had. We came up with a deal, and I ended up picking it up. Only reason why I picked it up was mainly because of the roll cage, and it was wired with an ARC switch panel. It also has a tube front which was pretty cool.

He took out his SR and swapped out everything for OEM parts, so I could pick it up.
http://i.imgur.com/OiaFxUB.jpg?1
http://i.imgur.com/nDROWyO.jpg?1

So I drove down to VA and picked it up on a rainy Saturday.
http://i.imgur.com/9fBu2WO.jpg?1

I ended up taking it straight to my boys place to have it stored there for a bit, while I get the other car out of my garage. It was literally in pieces, so I had to source parts to make it a rolling shell. I finally got everything I needed. I'm hoping to have it out of there before 2016.

The next Saturday, I swung by and removed everything out of the bay and interior. This included, fuel lines, miscellaneous brackets and bolts, dash, ARC switch panel and harness, pedals, and other random bullshit. The bay and interior ended up looking like this

During this time I made a smart purchase... lol I ended picking up a Silvia Aero bumper. Only makes sense to go Silvia front on a coupe. I sold my rear valences to Mtr4nch and decided to keep my side skirts for this car.

And here is the final outcome... Don't mind the dirtiness. I'll be picking up the car in two weeks hopefully. The interior and cage are being sprayed the same color.

My main focus when I get the car back is putting that motor in the bay.I will be doing it from underneath to keep the paint from getting scratched.

The only things I need at this moment in order to drop the engine are:
-Motor Mounts
-Trans Adapter for VQ Trans
-Taarks Hall Effect Sensor
-Clutch

Updates when I get the car in the garage...

Finally getting the car this weekend. :drama:

I had the front and rear windshields removed for sandblasting and paint.

While waiting for the car I picked up a set of suspension arms from Phase 2 Motortrend. They were having a 20% off sale, so I couldn't say no. I picked up a set of S14 rears and S13 tension rods since I am using a S14 subframe.

Heres a preview of the car.

Stay tuned. My goal is July to have this car running.

it looks like your missing mounting tabs for your headlights and bumper ?

love the build so far :) keep up the great work

You can see there are brackets for the silvia headlights in the center. That way I don't have to use the oem brackets. Also, i thought the silvia bumper only bolted on to the fenders and oem bumper support.

Thanks!!!

After dropping off the Uhaul dolly, my boy Juan came over to check out the car. I told him I was going to drop the front suspension, so he insisted we got to work. Less than an hour later, everything in the front was dropped. Would have been quicker, but we were taking our time and bullshitting. lol

I also took the time to undercoat the wheel wells again. I love this 3M stuff!

Here are some interior shots

Current plans for the front suspension include:
-Reinforce tension rod brackets
-new sway bar links
-new lower control arms and use polyurethane bushings
-powder coat FLCA, crossmember, and tension rod brackets silver

I also had Juan weld in some reinforcement plates I bought from GK Tech on the S14 subframe. Here it is tack welded in place. Not pictured is also the Mazworx diff brace which will help when launching. ;)

Building an entire car is definitely EXPENSIVE. :picardfp:

So Felix came over and we drove to the garage to do some work on the car. But first, we picked up some beer! I'm not a big beer guy (I prefer whiskey), but the Winter Lager is definitely a smooth beer. Next think you know, there were only two beers left. :snoop:

http://i.imgur.com/3QFu686h.jpg
Thanks for Felix and his power tools, we were able to drop the subframe in less than 20 minutes. The trickiest part was trying to keep the front end from coming up. lol

http://i.imgur.com/9hTwnQHh.jpg
Here she is without the subframe. I will be removing everything else to undercoat the rear as well.

http://i.imgur.com/epagjRGh.jpg
We took the time to remove the gas tank as well since I will be running a 15gal fuel cell instead.

My fuel setup will be:

Aeromotive 15gal fuel cell with built in A1000 fuel pump (it is baffled, so I won't be running a surge tank)

Aeromotive FPR

1000cc Injectors
-8AN fuel lines (Honestly, -6 might just be enough)
AEM Fuel Flex Sensor

Here's a shot of me doing my Vin Diesel pose. :keke:

So after days and days of waiting without an update on the tracking number, I arrive to my desk and see this.

http://i.imgur.com/YEPznQuh.jpg
Finally. Decided to purchase about 90% of what I need from Taarks. In retrospect, I should have purchased new valve cover hardware. You can see I purchased the oil block, power steering relocator, hall effect sensor, water necks, AN bungs for my radiator, and new gaskets. So much excitement!

http://i.imgur.com/Fs8zsHYh.jpg
I decided to install the water outlet and power steering relocator since it was the easiest and quickest part to install.

http://i.imgur.com/eiVOXlwh.jpg
I also placed a purchase with Mazworx for a water pump block off plate and timing pin relocator. Nothing but quality from Mazworx. Can I get a sponsorship!? haha They're just mocked up in the picture, but have been installed properly since then.

Also, all that new hardware is from Mazworx as well. They sell a new hardware kit that covers just about everything. A little pricey, but well worth it.

For users who use ARP main bolts on their SRs, they're probably aware of one of the studs being too long and hit the upper oil pan. The shop who assembled the motor back in 2010, didn't address the issue correctly which explains why I always had an oil leak. lol It was never sealed properly. What I did was drill through oil pan and had it welded. Once it was welded, we took a drill bit and drilled in it again (if that makes sense). It clears now, but when I turned the motor on the stand the other day, I saw what looks to be a leak. Not sure, but I may have to take off the oil pan and have it redone. It looks wet, but it isn't so I'm not sure.

From now til March or mid April, I will be focusing on my suspension. I may have to look for another garage, so I have til May to get the car on all four wheels again.

And to finish this update, here's a picture of my cat, Larry.
