View Full Version : Headlight compatibility

I'm wondering if Sil80 headlights will fit a USDM S14 zenki. I heard they do all you need is the mounting brackets for the headlights. If they do mount up, do they eliminate the need for the side markers? Or will it be a re-wire job to make a 3 light setup into a 4 light?

Any info would help.

thanks

What are Sil80 headlights? Do you mean Silvia S13 or S15 headlights, or 180sx headlights?? I'm confused.

OMG!! What's with all the bullshit replies? If you don't want to help then just shutup!

And uh...NEWBIE? Who's the newbie? It's a cool pic but it doesn't really apply here now does it?

What I meant by SilEighty headlights was basically the one's on a JDM S13. There's a conversion nicknamed "Sileighty" for when guys take those headlights and put them on a 180sx (Fastback). Hence the name "Sileighty".

Back to my question. I'm looking at a pic of S13 JDm headlights and they look awfully similar to S14 Zenki headlights. That's why I asked the question. Seems like a pretty cool idea to have S13 projectors on a Zenki since you can't find the Euro zenki lights anywhere(glass covers) and all the USDM lights are oxidized yellow turds.

Now....is there anyone out there who has any HELPFUL input? Or am I stuck today with all the ignorant retards that like proving they belong on the little yellow bus?

No, they will not bolt up. That would have to be a custom job.

There calling you a newb cuz it's kind of a dumb question hence the dumb answers. But what I don't get is that you've been here longer than most people on this board and yet you ask a question like this. Did you try searching? I've seen S13 pop-ups on an S14 but not S13 silvia lights (or sil80 lights as you call them...stop calling them that) I'm sure it's been done before though...since everything has already been done by someone in Japan.

What's the difference what I call them? Sil80, silvia, JDM silvia, Projectors, S13 projectors. It's all the same, to someone who knows what I'm talking about.

And the reason I'm asking is because I've never heard this talked about here before. It's really not a dumb question when you think about it. I mean i've never been up close to a S13 Silvia so I've wouldn't be able to guess-timate what the dimensions of the headlight assemblies are. So that's why I'm asking.

I guess my opinion of a dumb newbie question is "What's a Silvia?" or "S14...what's that?"

But anyways thanks for the info. you answered my question.

how can you look at pictures and not tell that they're a completely different shape???

and saying "sileighty headlights" is about as informative as dog shit

i said it once ill say it again - you can use my method to clean them using sand paper, not really mine, but it def. works (do a serch on nico) or you can drop $300 to buy a new set of usdm lights w/ corners, they'll look alot better.

So what flavor is your Window? Mine tastes like Lemons.

Seriously Zenki S14 lights are pretty rounded off, where as Silvia S13 lights are rectangular bricks. Now I know with a big enough hammer the square peg will fit in the round hole, but come on. Whoever told you that all you need is brackets was either kidding with you, or is sharing that bus seat with you. :tweak:

So can I use Corvette headlights on mine. I mean they're both pop-ups, so it'll work right? :hammer:

Okay...HA HA let's all laugh at Dream240....psss hey there goes that dumb ass!!! Let's all point and laugh!!!

Hope you guys had fun. As far as the issue with the headlights. I looked at mine again last night. Yeah there pretty different. So fine bad idea. Big whoop.

You know it's not very often I come up with a bad thread. But damn you guys just love jumping on for the ride. At least I'm admitting it was a bad idea and not contiuing to fight with you guys on this.

Shit now that I look at the S13 lights again you're right, I don't know what I was thinking. It would also explain why I've never seen a pic of a S14 with those lights.

I'm sure of one thing though. i'm not the first guy and I won't be the last to ask this question. So at least I saved the next guy the embarrassment.

Here's a thought, what about the R32 front end? Is it a direct bolt up or is there some major mods needed?

ahh i'm glad you looked at pics again and realized you were crazy :D
and didn't get all pissy
hehe

as for the R32 front, not a direct bolt on, that's for sure

why is there even a need to put a different front end on? to be different?
If being different is what makes you happy, dye your hair 4 different colors and never wear anything but a mickey mouse shirt and pink corduroys. Trust me, you'll be different.

What's wrong with being different? when it comes to my car I've done some custom things that I feel set my car apart from the other 240s out there. That's what I'm looking for. Even though the 240 is already a rarity on the roads these days, it's still that much more fun to make it stand apart from those others.

Also you can't tell me that you don't have or haven't thought of customizing SOMETHING on your car to your liking. I mean let's face it, everyone's pretty much got the same mods, the same kits, and the same looks. I'm just wanting to expand on that is all.

Is that so bad? And trust me I'm not wanting to dye my hair and put on corduroys anytime soon. That's not the different i'm looking for....plus pink? Come on....maybe lavender or teal even... :)
