Up for sale is my 1988 toyota mr2, 5 speed standard, stock 4 cylinder engine, 15X,XXX miles. I have two aw11's and im getting rid of one.
I have put a lot of work and money into this car. The list goes as follows:
SUSPENSION
*new front inner tie rods
*new front outer tie rods
*new steering rack hard plastic bushing
*new steering rack prothane bushings
*new front lower balljoints
*new front sway bar end links
*new front sway bar prothane bushings
*new front and rear strut inserts-kyb excels
*modded front strut housings
*new front and rear lower control arm prothane bushings
*new front and rear tension rod prothane bushings
*new tires, champions i believe, stock sizes on stock mesh wheels
DRIVETRAIN
I pulled the motor and transmission out to do some maintenance on it, even thou it didnt need it..
*re-sealed oil pan and baffle
*new crankshaft front and rear seal
*new camshaft seals
*new valve cover and spark plug cover gaskets
*new gates t-belt and tensioner
*new water pump
*new coolant o-rings
*new starter
*new alternator
*deleted egr system
*custom throttle cable bracket
*new distributor
*new ngk spark plugs-std
*new distributor rotor and cap
*polyurethane filled front and rear motor mounts
*custom exhaust system. I used the biggest magnaflow xl muffler i could with mandrel bend 2.25" piping. No cat. Slightly louder than the stock one.
*mobil 1 full synthetic transmission fluid
*new universal green antifreeze
*I removed, flushed, pressure washed, pressure tested and painted the radiator, it is as good as new. I also back-flushed out the rest of the cooling system including the heater and lines.
*new fuel filter
A/C AND HEATER
*I removed, flushed, pressure washed, pressure tested, painted and added new pag oil to the a/c condenser. It is as good as new (or better compared to most chinese..).
*I drained whatever fluid the a/c compressor had left in it and added new pag oil to it.
*the rest of the lines were flushed and I replace every single o-ring on the system with r134 compatible ones along with conversion service valves
*new receiver drier with new pag oil.
*System was working with r12 when I first got the car so I knew everything was good, I just decided to switch to r134 to avoid future problems and to not have to deal with a hanging compressor while pulling/installing the engine. A/C is now working perfectly good with r134.
*heater works... I flushed it along with the lines while the motor was out.
INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR.
*Interior is in really good condition, not missing a single panel and most of them are in great shape. I'll let the pictures do the talking.
*I recently installed a new stereo with aux and usb port. I used a conversion harness and installed a cd pocket. All 4 blown factory speaker were replaced with 4" boos speakers, nothing special. Factory under-seat sub is still there, not sure if it works.
*all electronics work. Pw, pl, pm.
*the window seals are the original ones and are worn out, it leaks a little water in when it rains hard and the driver side is a little noisy at highway speeds.
*the exterior is in really good condition. White, all matching vin numbers. Apparently the previous owner (a woman) got the eyebrows replaced, they are in perfect condition and are even still flexible. They were black when i got the car but i painted them white.
*the front right balance and the lip that goes with it were repaired at some point but it doesn't look bad at all.
*the c pillar trims are all there, but not untouched... passenger side is cracked into two pieces and driver side has multiple cracks near the bottom, pictures will explain, the sun visor is there and complete.
*the front grill is missing.
*the front fenders, now I would say this is the only thing bad about this car. The previous owner let the fenders collect leafs where the water drains, this caused humidity and rust, eating through the fenders making a quarter sized hole on the driver side and a very tiny one on the passenger side (see pictures).
That's about all I can remember right now.
This is my daily driver, that's why you see it a little dirty in the pictures, and it will be my daily driver until the day i say good bye to it. I love this car, I never had a car this old in such good condition let alone an aw11. The suspension is solid and the motor is healthy, It handles very well, the car is a joy to drive. It handles like a stock aw11 should (probably like they did when they first came out) and it drives fine even at 100pmh (I have taken it to 110mph). I would trust this car to drive cross country without thinking about it for a second.
I will include a box of stock stuff i removed such as the egr system and brackets.
And for a limited time, if you buy now I will include a few cassettes that i haven't taken out of the console since i bought the car, including a Prince, Purple Rain cassette that might even be worth something!!
