Hey all,
Im doing a lsx swap for my nissan 240sx. I purchased the wiring harness from wiring specialities. The project is almost completed. What stopped me is the wiring issues that I have. Here are the problems.
1. I bought a distributor block and route the positive battery to the block and the 2 outputs are for the starter and fuse box. So far my interior lights light up.
I grounded the negative battery cable to the chasis. Do i need to have another wire and ground it to the block? Where does the other end of the wire goes? the chasis?
2. When I tried to crank the first time, the fuel pump prime and the engine turned one time. Now, I tried to crank it again, the starter just click and the fuel pump did not prime. What is going on here? I check the the fuel pump relay and it did click. Do I have no power to the ecu?
PleSE help! thanks!
The battery, cables and starter are all new.

look at the diagram i showed you ^^
you need to label +/- in your drawing as well
you do need a ground on the engine block theres already a place on there where it should ground able i think its on the passenger side also towards the bottom if i remember correctly

theres a place from the factory on LS motors that is a ground ….. you can ground it out anywhere on the motor doesn't matter ….. is that a stand alone harness ? it should only require like 4 wires to run the motor if you have those wired in correctly your fine in that area …… look at the diagram i have above !…. remember a multimeter is your best friend when it comes to this stuff… there are plenty of diagrams on google images i don't wanna sound like a dick but do a quick search lol thats how i found out how to wire my car !

The wire is from a wiring specialities. I know about doing a search and trust me ive done it. This is my first diy swap and wiring diagram is like french to me. By looking at the diagram, so im gonna have to put 3 wires on the starter? Ws instructions said just to run it with 2. One for the constant power and one for the positive battery cable.

When the car sits will it crank once again. Do you have the wire from the alt on the starter?

Also, as far as grounds go, you have the grounds in your harness then put a ground for engine to chassis and another from chassis to ground. Be sure to sand chassis spots to bare metal before grounding there.

This is how i ground it. The starter just click. Now it seems like theres no power , no click at all. Interior light is still on.

i think he said bottom of the tray …. mines grounded on the chassis …… but if he's hearing his starter "click" then he's getting power….. i think it might be a signal wire to the starter ??:-/

It's grounded on the battery tray. stock nissan s14 ground. OK so i found out why the starter is not clicking anymore. the fuse on the distribution block is blown. it's only 30 amp each which is not enough. Which one shld i get at auto zone ? I also found out that the chassis that i grounded with has paint in it. so stripped the paint off and now trying to fit the other issue.:picardfp:

Stock the battery goes to the ground by the fusebox on the fender then to the head. Looks like you have the head to fender already. I would just move the Battery connection to the fender.
I have a 50 or a 150amp fuse on mine.

up it to a 50amp
do you have a build thread ???? I'm going to be taking the ls2/t56 out of my GTU and putting it i my s14 !

I tried to post a build thred but never get approved.
http://240atlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?93576-LS-gt-Vq-build-thread
I ended up getting a 80 am each so total of 160 amp fuse.
For the heck of it, i tried check the vots on the ignition switch. One wire show reading while the key is off. 0 reading on all wires when i turn the switch to on. Of course i have to rig it with screw driver since i lost my key.
If i were to do it all over again. Just order the mounts that you needed. The rest like fuel line, ps line ect ect can be purschSe seperately for a lot cheaper.

Ill try that and see. For some reason i couldnt get the bolts off where the thing is grounded to the tray.

I watched the video really quick. I saw you grounded neg bat to engine and you have harness ground on engine. Do you have a ground from engine to chassis. Have you checked for power at the key switch? There is one wire that feeds power. See if it is feeding power. If not it's something before then. If it is then find the wire that feeds starter signal off that switch. Switch it as if you were starting the car and see if it's getting power.

I have 2 wires grounded from block to chassis excluding the negative cable. How do i check power to the switch? Which color cable?

Do you have a voltometer? I believe it's black. Only one of those wires will have power without the key turned anywhere

Yes. I've checked that. It's not 12 v though...it's like 3 v or something. But when I turn the switch to the on position, no power to any of the cable.

Blown ignition fuse. But it still wont fire up. I have to use obd2 reader and see whats going on.
Fuel pressure at 55
Sparks present on the plugs
Havent connected the maf yet but from reading around, it shldnt prevents it from not firing up. Ecu has been flashed , so i know that vats has been removed...

it will fire without a maf but won't stay running or it will run like shit if it does
do you have HP tuners ? its a wise investment you can pick it up over on ls1 tech for $350 used

So maf sensor is not the issue? It wont even start at all. I dont think my crank sensor is bad.

I'm pretty sure if your crank sensor is bad the fuel pump will not turn on so if you have fuel pressure i don't think thats the case
the maf does matter unless the car is on speed density O2 sensors matter to

Ok. Im using 5 pin ls6 maf so i guess both iat and maf are not connected since 5 pin uses those.

i ment to say crank sensor isn't bad
if your running a ls6 maf on a ls1 pcm you need to calibrate it
you really should invest in HP tuners hands down best software I've ever used very easy to use also
you can also scan for codes and much much more it helped me a lot

Ok. Got the obd2 codes and it came out as map sensor low voltage. That map sensor is new. Cam sensor . Plugged the maf sensor. Which turned out that the pigtail they gave me is for ls3 6.2l . Thats after buying 3 mafs! Getting there
