Ok so I slapped on the white face overlays from import intellegece, I removed the needles at described in the instructions, (i had a spare cluster so I practiced removing them on that first, I fawked the speedo on teh spare learning how not to remove it) so anyways, I got teh faces on there. And I recalibrated the needles as per instructions, basically making marks on the cluster housing with a sharpie as to where the needle points to when it cant go any further.

Ok so I slap it all together, and put it in my car.. Speedo works, but the tach is screwed... when u turn the car on, it jumps to 3k rpm, then when u rev, it bearly moves.. Turn the car offf and it drops back down.. any cure for this? I hope I didnt fawk it cuz its a jdm cluster...

I coulda sworn reading about this problem in a thread before but I couldnt find it. Please help ASAP!

Ok I think its shorting out somewhere... basically when you put the key to the "ingnition" position, the needle pops to 2k, and when u turn the motor on, it pops up to 3k. I tried swapping the jdm tach into my USDM cluster to see if it was the jdm cluster itself, and it still didnt work right... I hope I didnt screw it up. Otherwise imma have to put the USDM tach mech into the jdm cluster..

ok imma try this... since my usdm tach unit still works,,.. imma swap the faces over.. and make the adjustment screw look just like the jdm one in hopes that will compensate for the difference in rpm growth....

They use the same circuit board, but the magnet appears to be of different numbers... I hope they are teh same..

let me know how this turns out cause i kinda scrw up tach as well ... i mean it is not accurate at all..

ok .. what I ended up doing.. was taking the USDM tach apart.. comparing it to the jdm one, they appear to be the same, same numbers and all, just difference was a date stamped on the magnets, (at least I hope thats date) and the adjust ment screws being different settings. So I compared them really close and figured out that they should be the same, seeing how the jdm tach only has an extra 1k of rpm, so I adjusted the USDM tach unit and slapped the JDM face on and back into the jdm cluster. Badda Bing Badda Boom it worked.

Maybe Ill just get everything professionally recalibrated later on when i swap or something.

Results of face overlays - They where a pain to put on. The instructions required "decal application spray" from your local decal shop, but a friend recommended a homemade remedy for this using vinnigar and water. Its hard not getting tiny airbubbles in it. Well after all that, they are somewhat glossy, sorta what I was affread of. But its cool for an alternative look.

I got red bulb condoms on them as well as a modded clock to shine red that I did a while back.. equiped with the whiteface, its a lil ricey, almost comparable to importintelligence's indiglo needles, how the red from the needle reflects off the white faces. But its cool.

1) take off the cluster.

2) spray the contracts with any electronics cleaner, like the dust remover for pc parts etc.

There is plenty of threads on doing this mod, my first suggestion is:

Leave your cluster alone, is not worth it!!!
The tach seems to always break, dont matter how careful you are, used clusters are kind of expensive so if you still want to buy another one go ahead.
The white overlays just dont look right, they just look "fake"...I got tired of them and got another cluster to replace it....
