Panda Garage is a newly established business in selling used and new parts and accessories for all Japanese car enthusiasts. Shop was founded by a fellow zilvia member, Jimmy Yu (ae86itb here on zilvia). His hired help include me, and another fellow zilvia member, Jay Slade (revat619 here on zilvia)

We do NOT deal with used engines/clips due to the fact that the guys who do that (Neotech Imports) is down the street.

Both have been tested and work real well and are very easy to use. Jimmy (owner) has been using the Spline type on his car for over 6 months with no problem now.. and I have the "Ball Lock" type on my own car.

on the ball lock style, you pull the silver ring towards you, (which is blocked by a pin, that you have to press down first). A person would have to be very skilled and very retarded at the same time in order to pull that stunt off while driving. :bite:

as the spline type you pull the triang flaps towards the car..

I really dont see them coming off unless done intentionally.

1. Simply because one costs more to manufacture than the other.
2. That is up to you.. I like the ball lock personally, jimmy likes the spline (because he does not like such a huge spacer for his steering wheel).
3. That also depends.. I would say the average person can do it under 10 seconds
4. Yes, you get to keep the horn on both models. make sure you leave the spinning contact device (which is what the original steering wheel uses for horn/ cruise control). on the car. its relatively simple to wire it.
5. you can use any hub with a 6 bolt pattern. HKB is what we carry , but nismo and momo should work just fine.

i can't really explain more than this.. but theres a dot on both hubs that indicated the top (center position) to put your wheel on correcty. there are alsoe a few small ball bearings so the device should only go in one way.. jimmy knows more of the details on that, so if you would like to know more, pls shoot him a PM or email..

It is made for an aftermarket steering wheel. So yes you do. All aftermarket steering wheels require hubs....
you can use any hub with a 6 bolt pattern. HKB is what we carry , but nismo and momo should work just fine.

i cant tell alot about the ball lock type from the pictures, but wouldnt, in theory, the spline type be stronger for lots of hard steering like track use and watnot? maybe im dumb but the ball lock type seems like it wouldnt be as strong... (just trying to decide which style i wanna go with)

david, the quick release isn't that big, you'll need a spacer to make the wheel as close as you want it

yea.. we're still around.. I havent been on zilvia lately, as I have been busy with work and school, we're preparing for the next shipment of stuff from japan.. btw. we als have 20mm and 25 mm bolt on spacers in!.. $80 and $90 a pair respectively.

anyways.

BOTH types have stood up to some rigourous driving.. a lot of the D1 guys use the ball lock type, so i see no problems with that.. with the ball locks locked into there grooves, there is not way for them to move out of it...

That seems like it would be a lot more secure then the steering wheel is relesed than the ball lock. It just looks like too much is left for a theif to turn with the ball lock type...or maybe I am not seein gthe picture right!

Here are some Pics of the Ball type installed, it spaced the steerign wheel perfect for me. My only complaint is that it did not include an extra set of screws that will be needed, and tabs that go between the hubs, and the hub and the wheel to stick the honr wires on. But I made it work. Quality piece, I am enjoying it.

I really don't want to seem like an ass or put down Panda Garage's product at all, b/c it seems to be a very high quality piece,and they are great guys to deal with.

It just seems like there is a substancial amount of metal that a thief could grab onto and still be able to steer the car. I just want to see what the spline type looks like. I would buy something like this as an added security feature and am wondering which type makes you vehicle harder to steel

I don't know if the holes go all the way through on the ball type but if they do....then you can probably stick a screwdriver through it to steer, or a long nail.

umm, guys, you can drive the car with just a hub. I have done it, lol. I do it for fun. freak poeple out by driving without the wheel. Don't depend on thsi thing for theft prevention. It is an added security measure, but definatly not a perfect solution. BTW, I was steering the car without touching the highlighted section of the release above.

wrong imo. They are both theft deterants, but I could steal a car with no quick release attachment wheel at all, just a hub. I think it just comes donw to personal preferance. Not that I woudl steal a car, better put, I could drive a car with just the hub :duh: :2f2f:

what thieves do is just use 2 clamps to clip on to the hub/quick release and steer with those. i've seen it done before. this is more of a bling bling add on. wont do much in terms of security.

sorry about the late response. We're having a bit of a problem with customs on our shipment. The new shipment is here in the states, but we cant get to it until customs finishes up whatever it is that they're doing. :rolleyes: We were supposed to have this shipment in house the first week of November and here it is about to be December. So needless to say we're a bit irritated. Hopefully we'll get it soon. And as soon as we do, you guys will know.

if someone wants your car, they can take it, thats what i comes out to.. I've seen people in taiwan do demonstrations driving a car with out a steering wheel or hub PERIOD just to prove a point.. they actually just put a vice grip on the steering shaft!..

so any of these devices/alarms can help.. but hell if someone wanted your car they can tow it.
