They make some pretty nice looking kits (some look like BN Sports). They are made of flexible fiberglass reinforced plastic. I don't know if they are made in Japan though, but still they look like good kits. The nicest part about the company is that the main distributer is in Illinois (well, nice for Illinois people) and the kits are reasonably priced (around 850). Anyone heard of them (they seem pretty new)?

Theyre all knockoffs for the most part, vertex, msports, bn sports etc, and all i know about them is that theres a group buy in the group buy section for them.

Those kits are str8t, but I rather get the auth. prod.
But, in actuality what really matters is the install - not so much the product. U can have a shitty ass fiberglass knock off, but with good install/reinforcement it'll turn out good.

The front of the bumper may or may not be bolted to anything... other than that fitment looks pretty good. :coold:

Like someone mentioned earlier, fitment is based on how well you make the kit fit. The kit is made in Japan.
every car is different, like my car was once hit by a truck, and made the front bumper a bit difficult to fit, but with couple small adjustments, it fit like a glove!

I dont mind japanese knock offs. Also if they fit well, look good, and aren't cheaply made, I'm all for it!
Dousan, look at the type III kits... those are BN sports (the exagerrated lips). Type II's are M sports.... don't know about type I's.

Ok, so i mistook the uras ones for bn sports, but the lines are similar with the lips, don't say they look nothing alike.

On Keiths car (the white coupe pictured), he put the kit on the day before that event, its held on by like 3 or 4 zipties, and bumper support. I've seen a couple of the kits on cars at TougeFactory and they fit very niceley if you take the time to put them on.

the fiberglass is damn nice, I've seen them before they were installed. "U can have a shitty ass fiberglass knock off" or a damn good knock off. I was talken to the guy and he said he changed some things to make them better in his opinion. I don't really see too much difference so they were probly small changes lol. I would buy one if I had the money.
If you don't know many of the parts you buy from japan are outsourced for production. They quality coudl be the same as the larger manufactures since they are made in japan.

Pretty sure they are 17x8.5 and 17x9.5, forget offsets, I know he has fm901s and es100s, but he has 8 of those wheels so I forget which is on which.

anyone seen the overfenders in person?
PooPoo240
07-26-2004, 05:10 PM
the s13 with overfenders went from Chargespeed to version:Select overfenders, if that says anything... but yes, I've seen them in person. overall fitment is GREAT!
I'm talking about the white s13 with black vented hood on version:Select's website.
It's pretty much like any other body kits out there... "real" or "knockoff" they all need some tweaking to make it fit perfect. it all depends on your car.
in my opinion, everyone copys off someone elses idea...design...and make it there own with a very minor modification.

well i know from experience w/ chargespeed.. at least.. that their fenders went on perfect without cutting or adding fiberglass... just had to enlarge 1 hole.. and bam perfect fit..

I would have to object to that statement.
Since I deal with VERTEX I will present my defense in regards to VERTEX.
Who did Ueno copy the VERTEX line up from?
Where have I seen another kit that looks like a Vertice kit on a Ferrari?
It's a shame when someone copies another product and takes all the R&D (research and development) time from someone else.
Here is why people should buy VERTEX or high quality aero:
1) VERTEX kits are made with a special resin recipe approved by Ueno.
2) Ueno specifically requests certain areas of his bumpers to be more or less reinforced than other areas. This is key in weight dispersion and strength.
3) VERTEX kits are the best predrilled kits that I have ever dealt with. Keyword here is PREDRILLED. There are many companies out there that are not predrilling and allowing the customer to produce their own holes. Predrilling shows the manufacturers faith in their completed products.
4) All VERTEX kits fit into factory mounting locations. A VERTEX bumper is drilled EXACTLY like an OEM bumper. If the hole is square (some Z33 holes) then VERTEX uses a square hole.
But then I digress as people always raise the issue of price. Why do people accept the price of an iPOD? The internal components cost...a total of 100$ and that's being generous (i'm an electrical engineer, i have somewhat of a grasp on pricing electronic components). Manufactured in Taiwan or overseas somewhere (possibly). Does this iPOD command a 400$ price tag? In some peoples opinion, NO. In my opinion, R&D is worth a whole lot more to a company than anything else. It's the time in R&D that raises the price tag.
Why do we complain about aero prices? Because we have been blessed with crappy companies like (left blank, you can fill in the crap knock off shops). These guys make a mold from a completed product and sell it for pennies. With that said, what kind of service do you get from these guys when it doesn't fit properly? I'd say, no service. How about this for a reply - "Sorry we cannot accept returns, you signed the agreement and you knew our products were crap when you bought it. Serves you right!"
Well that's my gripe for the day. Take it for what it's worth. The price may be a bit more, but hell...at then end of the day you can say you have a VERTEX kit, as opposed to a Taiwan sweatshop front bumper.

we all know that version select cannot match the quality of vertex products. however, for half the price, i say it's definately worth it. if most of these guys built showcars, vertex would be the #1 choice hands down.. as you mentioned, the craftmanshsip / fitment of verted kits are simply excellent. however, most of these guys do not build showcars and they do not have 1600$ laying around to spend on a body kit. most of these guys use their cars as a daily driver and take it out a hard drive every other weekend. these guys do not want to spend 1600$ on a vertex kit only to have it torn up by a speed bump in a parking lot the next day. vertex is a GREAT company and in my opinion, there are no better aero kit companies. you think taking credit for vertex's hard work by replicating their kit seems to be unfair ( i would think it was unfair too if i was in your shoes ).. so why not sue them??
bottome line : a good looking, decent quality/fitment kit from version select seems to be a better deal than high quality/fitment kit from vertex.

That's an agreeable statement.
But I disagree about the daily driveability comment regarding Vertex kits. Inexpensive they may be not be, but they are daily drivable (unless you live down some crater-riddled country road in B.F.E.). I've watched countless times Vertex kits being drag accross walls, behind cars, rubbed by other cars, etc. The kits are unbelieveably durable given how light they are. I watched Immura drag his Vertex kitted FD rear quarter around the entire hairpin at d1 in Feb. The bumper partially came off, got dragged around the remaining course, they pitted and screwed the bumper back on, good-to-go. They are streetable, just because they're not as inexpensive doesn't mean they're for show cars only.
Not everyone is as serious about their cars as others. That's why some guys are happy with Factory VLSD's, and some go with Cusco, Tomei, Kaaz, or Quaiffe. :naughtyd:

Good drivers, light damage, if you hit a wall hard enough you are out an assload of money. You will drive a lot more cautious and be super afraid of everything if you buy a real vertex, compared to some cheap knockoff.

but if u do (anyone) buys "knock off" aero parts, please enforce them correctly. metal bracings can be bolted on from the inside of the bumpers to the car's frame. more rigidity and the fiberglass/urethane/carbon/wutever keeps it's form better.
i hate riding down I90 and watch ground effects wobbling out of place...
it makes my bowels hard, clogs up, and I get diarrhea.
