I just got my 5Zigen Border for my 98. Looks good, a little big, but good nonetheless. It's a little loud still though, so I was wondering if there is any available silencers for this exhaust. The place that I bought it from said that there would be no way that I would need one, but I'd like to try it out and see if it makes some difference. It is a 3" exhaust, and I have a hotshot header.

One more thing, the "cat" that was actually left on the system after installing my catback exhaust is just a resonator, it is completely empty.... Is there supposed to be anything in this one? Or is the top one, up by the exhaust manifold on the downpipe the only real one?

Thanks for any info!!!

The one in the DP is the cat. the second one is a resonator which is the cat in JP. Some Cali cars have a 2 stage in there but I haven't seen one.

is it still too loud?

Yeah, its really freaking loud..... Its about as loud as my friend's Thermal Exhaust on his Acura........ much lower, but just as loud. Anyway, what I'm going to try is going by a custom muffler shop locally, and trying to have them install a catalytic converter for me. I'm also Dynamatting my trunk this afternoon to see if it helps inside......

Well Josh, since you live in California, you wouldn't happen to know where I could get a cat for my car would you. S14DB said that in Cali there were 2 cats...... I could really use that second one...... since mine is hollow.....

Have the muffler shop weld one in.

The cali cat is a 2 stage only. You need a 3 stage.

Well, the Dynamat really helped, but it is still extremely intrusive...... I'll keep you updated on how it goes.....

pull the bumper off and put it on the car behind it.
