Anyone had made/ purchased a custom subwoofer box?
I'm trying to make a custom box for a 8-10 inch single woofer, not looking for something crazy, just a bit good sound since the 4x6 speakers really not doing so well.

Post your s13/s14 custom sub box, so i can see what is possible. :rimshot:

Ill have to get a pic later but I removed the rear seat of my hatch and fit a custom sealed box between the strut towers for a 12" alpine type r. In place of the seat I have an "amp rack" of sorts with two 6.5" speakers mounted on the vertical and my amp is mounted on the 'seat' under a carpeted lid. Carpeted the whole thing and it looks decent, my only issue has been integrating the stock trunk stuff, cutting the panels and making it all flow better.

Unfortunately I think audio is low on the list for most people here. If I were doing a sealed 8" I'd probably do a small fiberglass enclosure on the drivers side in the trunk.

Single 15" fiberglass box I'm making for my s14... Well, the fiberglass is done. Just need to finish bondo/sanding and paint. All the spikes are useable air space.

Don't mind the amp. Had to shuffle everything out of the way for a test fit.

The amp will be on the driver side.

^^ that looks pretty cool. I can hide my amp, just need a way to make my box stable and looks good

to make a little more air space in a confined area. The angle of the test fit pic looks a little off, but the trunk hinge goes down between two spikes. This was mainly to see if my process would work. I plan on doing more intricate designs in the future now that I know it'll work. It wasn't all my idea, my roommate was using the same method to make furniture and stuff in architecture school and we thought we could use it to make cool speaker boxes. Now I know it works, time to make it pretty. Thinking of doing a blue similar to the 350z blue.

as for making a box stable, just anchor it down. shaping the side of the box to the shape of the trunk helped keep it secure in the 100 miles or so I had the box in the trunk (compared to a 12" sub in a square wood box) but I'm still going to replace the wood that goes over the spare and anchor it all down. L brackets would be easiest, but I'll drive screws down from inside the box before I put the speaker in.

(I'm not really here, I'm protesting spam by not posting...)

2 ATREND ported boxes from Best Buy several years ago - They had buy one get one free and free shipping so total cost of boxes was $50!

2 Kicker 10 inch single coil subs, again Best Buy buy one get one free & free shipping, total cost $100. The boxes matched the sub volume and port size specs very nicely.

A pair of 12" waffle grilles too.

I have good amps and this shakes the windows - of the neighborhood. Plus I don't golf so who needs a trunk. Kinda heavy though. Honestly 1 sub is almost good enough.

Some folks said I would have major cancellation issues, but I tried them facing the same way, away from each other and towards each other and there was some difference but both facing right was the best. My vert is not exactly a controlled environment for audio and it needs to be freaking loud over the exhaust and road noise.
