There isn't much info on tanabe coilovers in the USA, so I'd like to know how they are quality wise, I'mm trying to go between the Tein type basics vs. the s-0c type IIs, the type IIs are about $70 cheaper, from what I understand/search/read, that the sustecs are very respected dampers in Japan, almost a higher grade than the Teins.. well lemme know your opinions and usch, thankls.

i say at least go with a monotube coilover setup or damper if you are going to be doing some agressive driving.. both the basic and the tanabe's are both twin tube.. good for daily not good for racey racey... =)
I met someone with the Tanabe S-S type 2's a while back and he seemed to like them a lot. For me personally, I think going to something like the SPL coilovers are a better choice. IIRC the Tanabe's don't come with solid upper mounts so if you were to add those to the price and then add tax + shipping you are almost at the same price as the SPL's.

first of all, lemme say thanks to your opinions.
A monotube design isn't a very important thing for me,
since it's going on a car that's rarely going to see track time,
mostly jsut street driving. I'd love to have a set of tricky coilovers w/ full hegiht adjustability and pillowballs and what not, but to be honest I just odn't see myself using them at this point.
Another thing I'm deciding between the fact
that the Teins are rebuildable while the Tanabe has a replacement damper program, where they just send you a replacement.
From what I read tanabe's sustec line are good quality products, and I can get 8/6 spring rates for the s-0c type IIs, while the type basics are 6/6... right now I'm leaning towards the s-0cs, since most ppl have been saying good things about tanabe, and they are $70 cheaper than the basics, thanks

if it's never going to see track time, why get coilovers at all? you're gonna "adjust" the coilovers so you can go to the grocery store?

it will actually see a little as of right now, but I figured it'd be a good way to step into the coilover world, not too expensive, if my needs calls for more later on, I can always upgrade.... I will use bags of groceries to achieve the perfect static weight and corner weigh my car, so you can rest assured that it won't og to waste.

*shrug* it's your money, but it's just for me coiloves, like any other performance part, are meant to expand the limits of your car's abilities. If you're never going to even explore the limits of your car the way they are now, whats the point of getting coilovers? When I got my spring/shock, i did it just to get spring shocks. I regret that now- not being able to learn how my car feels stock, becoming a better driver, THEN improving the car to help me further improve.

i just installed the Tanabe sustec II coilover..(entry level) and i love it! ride is good for daily driving and far better than the stock SE suspension. i never tried tein or other brands but regardless im happy with my pick. the only problem is the thing is purple =P hope this helps.
