It's possible that I shouldn't post this thread here, so sorry lol.

I may be potentially buying an s13 from a guy, but it has a little over 200k miles on it.
I know it probably depends where you go, but anyone have a price they've got for rebuilding a KA24de?

Is this a factory rebuild or performance built? Are you talking about labor price or parts cost? And anything wrong with the motor? Because if it's damaged the cost will be more since it will require more possible machine work.

This is really a vague question to answer. Let me ask you, is anything wrong with the car or are you just worried about the mileage? If you are unsure about the condition of the motor, BEFORE BUYING I would strongly suggest doing a compression test and possibly a cyclinder leak down test to help determine how healthy/unhealthy the engine is. My KA24DE had over 250K miles on it when I decided to rebuild but that was because I had a slight blown head gasket and my car began to overheat. I did all the work as far as taking the motor apart and putting it back together but if you aren't doing the labor and/or you send your head to the machine shop it can add up quickly.

The machine shop I use has consistently been $1,200 labor every time I take a head and block there. They are the only machine shop in the area so they kind of have the market cornered. . .

For that price I usually get:

-all parts being re-used get hot tanked and cleaned
-head resurfaced
-block decked
-rotating assembly balanced
-new rods and pistons assembled and installed (I provide parts)
-3 angle valve job
-over sized valves installed (head work required)
-port match intake
-port match exhaust
-polish runners in intake manifold
-full re-assembly

when I took my head to a machine shop (just the head mind you) it totaled about $600 and I only had to replace the Exhaust valve guides everything else was good and reused. It included the below:

-complete disassemble, cleaned/hot tanked
-resurface head and pressure tested
-Spec/measure all the parts in the head (valves, valve guides, etc)
-3 angle valve job
-setting valve lash
-complete rebuild gasket kit (head, exhaust/intake mani, egr, throttle body, injector o rings, etc)
-New OEM head bolts

Here is what I took in
