This sounds like a coolant temp sensor. The water temp sender connects to the dashboard and has one lead. do you have that for sale?

Sorry I don't have that part I ordered two of coolant temp sensors you can find it on rock auto for cheap tho I also have a 5 percent off coupon if you want that too
