Why would you unplug the stock gauge?
You're adding a gauge to the system, not piggybacking off the stock stuff.

so if the stock one is acting all funny just let it do its thing?
i just wasnt sure if anything needs to be spliced or cut with the stock sensor

I'm clicking on your link and it shows a vacuum pump??anyways usually people leave the stock temp gauge setup alone and just wire in your new gauge setup separate.i take its a coolant temp sensor so install your gauge sensor wherever you want it to read from and then connect back to the gauge.the gauge will need a 12v accessory source and a ground.then just mount your gauge and walla!no need to mess with the factory stuff.once you buy your gauge it usually comes with instructions
