Skyline GTR

I just moved here (NY) from Hong Kong in June and I am studying here. My parents got here two months before me to set up the house, and I told them to buy me a Silvia Spec R, because I had one in Hong Kong that had a turbo and everything in it, but couldn't bring it here, and they told me they will get one, and told me it was the same. At the point, I didn't know they don't have the Silvia here, and thought everything was fine, when I got here, the car looked somewhat the same as the Silvia I had in Hong Kong. I didn't have my NY license then, so the only person who drove it was my dad, and I didn't know it was that much slower until I got my license in July. Of course, I love to race a lot, because that's all I did at night in Hong Kong. I thought about hooking this 240sx up, because was wondering if it was worth the time. So I started find another car, like the WRX, Lancer, Supra, and Skyline. I asked my friends if they have the old WRX, and found that it doesn't exist here, and the new one looks gay, and I said what about the Lancer, he said it would come out soon, which is out now, and it's not fast because it's not the Evolution that they have in Hong Kong. He told me Skyline wasn't out but they got Supras here. I trusted him and started looking for Supra, I found one that was pretty new, only 22000 miles, TT, and it was fast. I conviced my parents to buy it, and they agreed last month, but I also found that on the ineternet that the Skyline DID EXIST here, but I couldn't find any brand new ones. So I stopped think about the Supra and hoped for a Skyline, I said to my parents that the Supra was rear wheel drive and was dangerous when it snows, because my friend told me to use that excuse. I went to so many Nissan dealers and asked about the Skyline, no one has it and no one has any ideas where to get one that's brand new. Skyline has always been my dream car, that's why there is no way I am taking a second hand Skyline. And when I was in Hong Kong, my parents said "Someone who's 18 should not drive a Skyline." But now, I am planning to get one and drive it for a long time before I would get rid of it. Does anyone have any idea where I can get one?? Please let me know ASAP.

Ok, uhm, sorry to read your post with such a selfish reply as this, but are you telling me that you can have a car in Japan bought for you and shipped here?

If that's the case, than I would totally take the Silvia. Or something. I'll admit, I think I got lost around the time when I thought thinking that you weren't sure if you should do that or not.

But, that aside, back to me. Uhm. Does the Varietta exist in Japan? Can you get one? I would do anything. Please let me know. Thanks.

I am just saying it came out here, but I heard you can import it from Germany, but that's probably too much work. But the Varietta does exist in Japan, and probably Japan only, because Hong Kong doesn't have it either.

But you can convert the headlights of the S14 ( or 240SX if that's its name here) into the S15 lights, I have seen people do that in Hong Kong, but the actually S15 is probably only in Japan

would you be getting a skyline gtr...skyline gtr. cuz if u r wondering about it, you can import them here into the states for $90,000. if you really want one n got the money to do that, then go for it man. i wish i could've brought my skyline gts-t over here to the states, but that would've been a hassle, n besides, i've always liked silvia's/240sx's as well. i can't think of the site of the company that imports skylines to the states, but i'm sure somebody on here does, i know i've been there before, but i didn't bookmark it, sorry.

-just wanted to add that i believe it's www.motorex.net that imports the skylines into the united states, so if u want a skyline, u should check it out.

Uh, dood, just swap yer 240sx engine for an sr20 or ca18, and voila, Silvia

#### spoilled brats jk

As far as what is/was available here:

240sx (slower silvia) untill 1998
300zx (fairlady) untill 1996
Supras untill whenever. . .
Skyline (not now, and I don't recall ever. . . could be wrong)

'course, you could *GASP* put that money into a Camaro or a Vette, but that's not quite as Japanese. . .

BlankFlip

yeah, i don't think they ever had skylines in the states, i've heard that they will be in the future though. n camaro or vette misnomer? they should be our enemies . they might be 8's, but in my opinion will never be as fun to drive as our 240's. i have to admit, those z28's r pretty #### fast though, but i'm gonna stick w/ the imports.

Word Up. And also i dont like do stop and the gasstation every mile to fill up my car with gas.

No sense considering anybody an enemy. Japanese cars, European cars, American cars, Russian cars. . . They're all cars (well, cept mebbe the Russian ones. . .). I was merely suggesting something in the performance range he was looking at. There's no reason to knock a car just 'cause it isn't Japanese. . . I mean, ####, which country has put men on the moon? I don't mean to turn this into a domestic/import argument, just love a car for being what it is, not where it's made :-)

BlankFlip

true, but it just so happens to turn out that I like nissan's the best (japan's nissans for the most part). i think i'll always like the nissan's the best, i don't go out n just "represent imports", cuz i'm not a big fan of honda's n a lot of other various import cars. i did say that the z28's r fast though (obviously), n i respect a lot of domestic cars or a lot of other imports, but my heart will always lie with the silvia's/240sx's, skylines, lancer evolutions, impreza wrx's, n some other ones. i also said that our cars r funner to drive, in my opinion at least, there's just something about them that attract me to them much more than a vette ever would. maybe it's just cuz i started getting into cars when i lived in japan. quoting u, "just love a car for being what it is, not where it's made," i totally agree w/ that, n i love the 240 for being what it is. if i was given 30k to buy and then use the $ for ne mods i wanted between a z28, a civic, or a 240sx, i'd choose the 240sx first, then the z28, then the civic (only if i had to). i guess i didn't type my last post the way i meant for it to come out, i actually just used the word import cuz that's what everyone around my area calls my car cuz they don't know what it is, those bastards r giving me their bad habit. didn't mean to say something like "all imports r better than all of the domestics," that's my bad.

I grew up with imports and basically never saw American cars until I moved here. So I know nothing about them and I have no interest in them, because I didn't even know what a Mustang is until I got here. But the Skyline is probably one of the best race car at this moment, it won so many races around the world. I am a big Nissan fan too, and I always wanted a Skyline, but when I told my parents, they went to the dealership(this was back in Hong Kong) and found out that the Skyline is too fast, so they looked for a lower Nissan model, which was the Fairlady or the Silvia. They thought I would like the Silvia more because it had the typical sports cars look, and I liked it a lot too, althought not as much as a Skyline. Also, Blankflip, I am looking for a brand new Skyline, nothing used, and if I import them, they are always used, so I need a way to find them.

They do have the S15 in Hong Kong. I've seen one at the GT-Sports shop in Mong Kok, Dundas street when I was there this summer... really nice one too... as were the two R34 GTR's at the Crazy Racing Shop...

OK let me try to figure this out. You have a US spec 240SX right now. You don't have a Silvia in Hong Kong. You want to "make" your parents buy you a $90,000 Skyline from Motorex because it's your dream car. You put off a TT Supra (ugly) for the slight chance that you could have a Skyline. The 240SX that I'm assuming your parents bought you with there own money isn't good enough for you. Do yourself a favor, suck it up drive the 240SX maybe get acouple mods for it, then get the car you want when you get back home.

SkylineGTR:

I would get a 240 and mod the #$%* out of it if you have that much money. You lived in Hong Kong, I'm sure you have friends there who can ship stuff to you for cheap. But if you really want a Skyline (*drool...*) There is a shop that imports them, their web address is: www.skylinegtr.com
Company name: MotoRex
Telephone #: 310/224-5085

Good luck!

yeah, i mentioned the www.motorex.net thing earlier, but he said that he doesn't want a used imported one, n the used imported ones cost $90,000! Skyline GTR, if ur paying 90k for a skyline gtr, i don't think ur gonna mind it being just a little bit used. n also, if u have 90k, u could make ur own unique 240sx that resembles a skyline gtr and try to swap a skyline gtr engine into the 240sx, u could be real sneaky having a 240 w/ a rb under there, i've never seen it done personally, but i've heard of it being possible.

Hey, Skyline, your parents adopting? I'm 19 and I'm female and I LOVE cars. I'm also kinda broke. So... they adopting?

Skyline GTR, you are the luckiest person I've heard of.

But don't pass up a Supra like that, especially a TT Supra!!! Tthe Supra is one of the faster import cars, and I wouldn't call it ugly. Street-legal TT Supras reach 700-800hp.

And why would you use "it's rear wheel drive so it's dangerous in the snow"? So is the 240sx (RWD).

Will your parents just give you a car and not the money to help you modify it? If your parents will just buy you a stock car, then the Supra TT is the way to go. Or look for an RX-7. The youngest Fairlady you can find is from 1996, so it might have half it's life left.

Getting a JDM Silvia or Skyline will be nearly impossible, due to costs and legality issues.

Good luck and tell us how it goes.

Skyline GTR:

also, would u happen to have ne pic's of ur S15 u had in hong kong to post up on here? that would be pretty cool if i could just get a quick glimpse of it. n if u do get a skyline, i'd have to c it to believe it, i hope u do though so that more ppl in the states will realize the true power of nissans.

I did have a real S14 in Hong Kong, with basically everything in it, and all from Nismo and Mine's. I got bunch of real pictures, but nothing digital. It looks very ordinary, expect the rims, but it beated almost any car besides those Lancers, Skylines, WRXs, and Supras.
No my parents aren't adopting. And my mom is a lawyer and my dad has a trading business.

Blankflip, where r u from?

Skyline GTR

One correction, my mom was a lawyer, but no more because her license in Hong kong requires her to get another license here to work

Anathony, I used that excuse because it doesn't snow in Hong Kong.

skyline gtr: dad's in the military, but before moving here like a year and a half ago, i lived in okinawa, japan for 3 and a half years. i loved racing there, those new supra's, evo's 4-6, wrx's would always kill my gts-t though...if only i had a gt-r.

Or another way to decide what car to get is buy a playstation 2 and get teh game gran tourismo 3 and drive all those car's and imagine you head popping out of each of them. Then decide what you look best in. just a little tip there.

if my dad ever gets orders to japan again, n i decide to go w/ them, we'll adopt all of u n we'll all buy our silvia k's w/ sr20det's in them for $2000 w/ a bunch of mods done to them already. n i'll spend the extra thousand n buy my old skyline gts-t again .
