Back in September I replaced my alternator with a remanufactured one from autozone. When I replaced the alternator I also had my westco battery recharged because it drained. The battery failed a test due to a dead cell, but I had them charge it anyway. The car ran fine until this past week. I noticed when getting on it the battery and brake lights would flicker on and off sometimes. Then one day I went to start my car and nothing happened (no dash lights, fuel pump prime, no radio) but the windows and dome light still were still working. I checked my fuse box and tapped on some relays and the car started like nothing was wrong. Last weekend I drove the car 500 miles without any issues. Now this past Friday my car died and wouldnt start back so I figured the battery was shot. I picked up a new battery from advance auto and the car started without any problems or lights on. Later on, the same day, the lights came back on, the radio started flickering and the car died. Today I pulled my alternator out and it passed the test at advance & autozone.

With the alternator back in, I jumped started the car (because the new battery is now drained) The car runs but the battery and ebrake lights are still flickering and after about 5 mins the car will die.

I have no subs or anything like that going to the battery, just my hids. The wiring specialties harness is about 2.5 years old and looks brand new still. All my connections are tight, grounds good, and fuses look good, and I also cleaned my terminals.

I apologize for all the reading but I'm so stumped! please help!

Is the alternator charging the battery at idle? Take a volt meter and check the terminals at the battery when idling, you should see 13.6 or more volts at idle.

So today I replaced the alternator with another remanufactured unit. The car started fine after a jump and no battery or brake light were on yet... I let the car run for about 10 minutes and then as I revved the car to around 3500 the lights came on.

I checked the volts going to the battery at idle and I'm getting about 11.30v. I'm going to the bring the battery back to advance where i just purchased it Saturday morning and have them fully charge it and test it.

Where else could I have a possible problem ?

short in your wiring// loose grounds// bad battery// bad alt// if you wanna sure fire test for the alt while its running disconnect the neg terminal and if car dies its the alt

Your voltage is low going to the battery at idle. Check all your connections at the alternator and battery. Remove them and clean with a wire brush. Make sure you have a nice clean connection.
