Hello,
I just did the sr20 swap into my kouki but it still isnt running like its suppose too. I drove it the other day and 1st and 2nd gear are sluggish before it hits boost. feel like there is no power until you hit boost. Another thing is that its has a slight misfire, i already checked coils, injectors, and even fuel pressure. Any input would be appreciated. Also i think its important to note that i bought the engine off of craigslist and it came with built internal ( checked when i got it home) and the ecu he gave me might have been a stock one since there is nothing written on the cover( and i know people usually mark their tunes) Again thanks
if it helps the engine is running
gt281r turbo
820cc injectors
big intercooler
255 walbro
z32 maf
electronic fans
aftermarket cams (i believe tomei not a 100 sure)
aftermarket pistons
3in exhaust (megan downpipe, apexi catback)

I believe you will find it difficult to get it running right without a tunable ECU. Check out the NismotronicSA (http://www.nismotronic.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=29) system features.

You really need to know what tune that ecu has.
You also need to do mechanical checks on the engine like compression, leakdown, and timing to verify that it's solid.
In the future, never buy an engine like that without being able to drive it first.

Ya i know first and last time. At the time it seemed like a good deal. And the mechanical checks i did also compression is good, no boost leaks also checked timing before swap. Ingnition timing was done to and a new tps was installed. the car also runs rich, you can smell the gas and afr gauge verifies. i would also like to note that it starts a mild misfire only once it gets warm. So i change the temp sensor but still nothing. I was thinking of getting the current ecu tuned, or just starting from scratch and just buying a stock one and then tune it. What do you guys think would be best.

Check the codes. Should tell you where your misfire lies.
Also I bet that ecu isn't tuned. Running 820cc injectors on a stock tune would run crazy rich. Open it up and look at it. You should be able to tell if it's stock or not. If a tuner isn't accessible to you give rs enthalpy a email. He's been super helpful to me.

ya so i called a couple of tuning shops and more than a few said that the symptoms that i am having could be caused by a lack of tune. The injectors are overloading the cylinders causing the lack of power, misfire and running rich situation.

I looked up rsenthalpy and saw some good reviews, but im not sure what hes selling, i guess. Does he program the ecu and it doesnt need a ems, or is it extra programing. thanks

ya i know lol. i just test drove it once to check it. I recently opened the ecu and actually found out that it has a rsenthalpy tune. Its signed on one of the boards, so i emailed him and waiting for him to get back to me. What do you guys think could be the issue then. Do i need a ems??

Never ever go EMS unless you absolutely have to. Many a nightmare have begun after oem ECUs leave the car. Paying $2,500 for a huge pain in the ass...

Uhhhhhhhhh NOPE.
Switching to an EMS can be a huge advantage on our cars. If you're having that big of issues, perhaps try consulting a reputable tuning shop like SP Engineering, or Bisimoto, etc.

My ECU has nothing on the outside that notes it is tuned. The only way to tell is to open the cover and look for a daughterboard. Hopefully then the chips or daughterboard is marked with something you can use to identify the tuner.
I would be amazed if you maf voltage differential and injector differential were close enough to run.
