View Full Version : What other roll bar options other than the Autopower and Cusco?

I have seen the autopower in person and I didnt find its design all that good for the S13, it didnt hug teh roof or sides very much and doesn't bolt in at the most optimal point on the floor.
What other options are there?
Keep in mind, this is for my 2nd, track whore 240, while I will take it for a spin on the street a couple times a week, its basically for HPDE and Auto-x.

well, you seem to know what you want in a roll cage. Why don't you get one that is custom fitted and designed to your specs? and of course specs that will be approved by whatever sanctioning body your involved with...

I am thinking about getting a basic 4 point autopower roll bar and fab more bars to make it a 6 point (save $$ if I can make the rest of the bars myself).
But yea, other than cusco and autopower, I have no idea whoelse make em.
IIRC, cusco doesnt meet the scca standard

I didnt even expand in my post on why I dont want a cusco as they are not approved for SCCA and even at an HPDE, i have heard of some techs not passing it because of the loops around the dash...
I wanted to get something off the shelf if possible, but if I can, of course I will get one custom fabricated.

I know Kirk Racing makes one for the S14. They might be able to take care of you.

i found an intresting solution recently... a local race shop said they can purchase general pre fabbed cages in 3 different sizes. small, medium, and large. they go by width i think. then, they just cut them down and weld them in. they said they are made with a lot of room to cut them down so they will fit great in anything. they are only like $150, and they'd charge another $100 to cut and weld it in. they said that it would fit better than an autopower.... so we'll see...

others from Japan are Safety 21, Achieve, Dash...
i found a shop in Sacremento that does custom cages for dirt CHEAP...they mostly do Domestics...i.e. 8pt roll cages for LESS than $500, certified for most sanctions too....
they dont have a design for the 240sx's yet, but they give you instructions on how to measure and submit requests in...
i forgot the name of the place at the moment, but i will post ASAP

I have a local guy to me that builds tube-frame dirt track race cars.. says he'll build be a 4 or 6 point roll bar for ~$400, installed and painted. 8 point cage for ~$600.
that's dirt cheap. Most custom cages are $1000-$3000.
If this is a dedicated car, get a cage.

Another option for roll cages is okuyam or carbing. They have a crap load of different cages available. They are the only company that I know of that even makes a cage for an s14 with the moonroof. The only bad part is that they are expensive and you would have to find some way to get them. Splparts.com sells some okuyama stuff. Just another option anyway. http://www.okuyama-go.to/

Just go custom, I will have to when I reach that point in my modding (damn sunroof), it'll probably end up being around the same price.

For translation I use http://world.altavista.com/babelfish . It won't translate everything but you'll get the idea.

I currently have a autopower full 6 pt cage w/ door bars, diag. bar, harness bar and it is super duper snug! I'm going to be swapping out for a safety 21 11pt for more passengers.

Can you post some detailed pics of the autopower? I am really curious about how much it cuts in, as I only got aquick look at their roll bar in a S13.
Thanks!

My buddy Mark Mazerowski just left the famous Titan Motorsports and started his own shop and is now producing a great alternative to the autopower and cuzco roll bars. He hand builds each one and they are bad to the bone. As far as I know, www.enjukuracing.com is the only place that sells them at this time. Hit them up.

I see drag and drift cages listed, which is cool, but I need a cage/rollbar which is absolutely 100% approved for sancioned racing like SCCA etc.

You live in IL, go to TougeFactory, he doesnt have any in stock, but look at Dave's (the owner) car, he has a 6 point Saftery 21 in it.
