I just purchased an s14 sr20det journal bearing t28 to replace my seized t25 and was wondering if i could safely run it at 7psi without leaning out the engine?

Ive searched and only really seen people asking about running higher boost on stock maf, injectors and ecu with a t28. Which i don't plan until i have supporting mods.

Also a lot of mixed information. Just trying to get some affirmation

Will my 370's, stock maf, and stock ecu be ok for the t28 at 7psi? (off the wastegate)

I do plan on buying some bigger injectors, z32 maf and getting a tune from rs enthalpy and running it at 11-12 psi, but for the time being just keeping everything stock. Besides the turbo obviously

turbo model number is 14411 69f00 by the way

i've ran 11psi on a stock s13 sr with s14 t28 all day no problem. You should be fine at 7psi.

You "should be ok at 10-11psi" but just to be on the safe side I suggest you have it at 7-9psi.
Also (if you have wideband) keep an eye on your A/F ratio, any thing above 12.0 a/f would be not safe, at WOT.

id trust it to about 9psi. if youre using a stock wastegate actuator you should be fine.
wideband would be a good idea if you dont already have one.

and id strongly recommend an enthalpy tune.
ive got a t28, z32 maf, 550cc injectors on an s13 sr and the tune has been great.

Have had a wideband from day one of my swap

Adam, do you have a ball bearing t28 or the journal? If using a journal bearing, are you using a restrictor with it?

I have a journal bearing T28. No restrictor needed on journal bearing.

I know you asked about stock ecu but I read the rest of your post... I'm currently running 550s, z maf, s14 bb t28 @17 pounds and cams with no issues on an enthalpy tune. Martin is the man.

.062in restrictor size is needed for journal bearing.

See thats what I've been reading. That NO restrictor is needed for journal bearings

BUT then i see that .062 restrictors are FOR journal bearings. Implying that they DO need them..?

Or they just benefit from using them?

The .062 restrictor is journal bearing it's the one I been using on my T28 for the past year. This size isn't really "restricting oil flow", this is the one you need.

.032 restrictor is for ball bearing turbos which is a much smaller hole that only allows very little oil flow.

Right on. My dif lines came with the .62 restrictor so ill just reuse it.

I imagine that using the restrictor at the turbo, alone, won't do any harm?

I got rid of my banjo bolt due to stripped oil feed threads. So no more banjo restrictor

Correct! It will be ok
