hehe... yah i always used to run stripped down windows (turning off all fancy features and animations) with tweaks to make the menu pop up faster yadda yadda cuz all the stock fancy crap animations and stuff make it slow... I like the quick speed.
I jus had to reinstall windows this morning and install eveyrhting... taking a while to tweak and htought id try some eyecandy this time..

haha Mandrake is a waste of time, yeah it looks nice, but I like playing games without having to using vmware or some other program. I used to use mandrake 8.1 and Redhat, and gentoo (just see what all the talk was about) Xp is good enough for the common user, especially xp pro
I have had my computer on for 3 months with xp pro and no problems

i've used XP pro for a few years now and its just a little better than the other crap macroshaft has delivered. mandrake owns it in terms of stability, speed, simplicity, and its a thousand times more secure.

i ran it twice.
then i formatted and installed w2k.
i dont know why i like w2k so much, maybe because it lacks all the extra bullshit that you guys seem to crave. same story with my car i guess.

pro. it is a reliable OS, I give it that. the only thing that drives me away from XP is its billions of features, it just drives me nuts. I end up having to turn off SO much shit because i want it stripped down to the bone. just give me the fucking OS and let me throw in my good shit, no one wants to use media player for music when WinAmp is so much better. ACDSee is the best image viewer, everything else can fuckoff. I dont care about restore points, go to hell. I dont want msn messager, trillian blows it away. i hate the super mario brothers graphics, give me black and white with no animations. jeeeeeeeez.

i run mandrake 9.2 and XP. as frustrating and sometimes unpredictable as XP is it still outshines 2K. if only they were half as good as mandrake :(
