The bad news is that the turbo has shaft play. The good news is that since it is an old T3, it is very easy and cheap to rebuild.
The 280ZX turbo is the same as a Z31 turbo spec-wise, the differences are that the 280ZX turbo is only air cooled and the outlet/wastegate adapters are different. The outlet adapters between the two turbos are interchangeable, though the 280ZX one is actually more convenient for making a custom downpipe.
Great turbo for a basic setup, especially on a KA-T. It seems to provide a very linear powerband: http://www.ka-t.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=59460.
I am asking 100$ shipped.
If you are interested or have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for looking.
