I'm not sure many people remember me from around here, I never really posted much, but I just want to let everyone know from the previews posts that I finally DID get my engine fixed, and yes... I'm also still alive, but not only that but the deal was great. For $700 I got a 96" 100k engine swapped in, after the swap they told me they test drove the car, and felt that my clutch was a bit weak, so they decided to just throw in the 96" clutch, and I'm over here pealing out with half of my old engine in my trunk! Its great, not only that but I had some new belts laying in my trunk when I gave them the car ( I was going to install them before my old 93" KA24de gave out ) And they just installed those ALSO for free. Another thing, for an extra $50 they gave me a full Magnaflow exhaust system. I don't know why, but I feel alive again... The engine is running so smooth its almost unbelievable, its completely stock, no spark wire, or new sparks and it feels like it just came out of the dealership, I can also feel a harder pull, I never really drove an S14 ka24de, and all I can say, that little extra power is awesome. I hope to take more care of this car, and change the FUCKING water pump!!! What do you guy's think I should use for oil, tune up? I'm going tomorrow morning to discount auto, I'm also not sure what to use to clean up the engine, I got some de greaser but I heard there's better stuff out there?

- btw thank you for all the support you guy's gave me on my earlyer posts, I really needed the help, and I swear, you guy's were like family. :wavey:

glad to see you like dohc:) take care of it - it will take care of you!

oil: 10w30 castrol gtx, oem filter, or mobil 1 filter.
ngk iridium plugs.
get magnacore wires, really decent stuff.
change out the water pump whatever, check everything for leaks.

as far as washing - use degrease and preasure wash it or use simple green and do it by hand

You dont suggest NGK wires? are Magnacore better? My friend has them on his 93 hatch, we always argue over which was better, my old NGK's or his Magnacore wires. - lol btw what about tranny fluids?

tranny fluild - redline mt90

oh and gear oil if ur asking too, 75w90 i think, Valvoline is good and cheap. or you can use Redline as well.

theres no major difference in wires, but i would take either ones. as long as the quality is good. its justa wire

Another thing... The intake on the 96" ka barely fits under my hood, it seems to big, does this mean I cant go aftermarket? My old AEM intake for the 93" is under my friends hood, so Im not sure If I can just bolt that one on or buy a 95" CAI? but will it fit...? Also about headers, I have to get 96" Hotshot header and finish it with custom exhaust piping? ::confused::

intake should fit since the stock intake box is fucking huge, if not you can always ut a lil piping off aftermarket. basicly its a pipe with a k&n filter. thats it.
if you looking for things that bolt up look for 91-94 parts. its the same DOHC, yours just newer. its not the engine year its the body trim. so if you are getting headers like hotshot you need to order headers for 91-94 year model. thats it.

ohh allright thanks, I was wondering how the hell they bolted on the 96: headers to my 93 exhaust.

but aftermarket plug wires need to be the year of the engine right? Cause I heard 92-94 wires dont support the 95-98 KA's. Also same with spark plugs?

Mobil 1 oil is the best of the shelf oil you can buy.

NGK wires work fine for anything. There are guys running over 500hp with the NGK's. They are cheaper, and they are what came stock. I bought Accel 8.5mm wires from PDM-racing, and they work fine.. Doesn't really matter.

www.2kracing.com , go to their nissan > 240sx > check out their NGK wires, they categorize like this 91-94 & 95-98, why do they do this???

Not to be rude or anything, but why do you think they would categorize them that way?

I have no idea...

on groupbuycenter there is GB going on...

http://www.groupbuycenter.com/buy.aspx?id=15751

they show two different them as two different parts too.
91-94 240sx (DOHC $64
95-98 240sx $40
pretty radical price difference. I've never heard of any difference, and honestly can't see there being a difference. They all have seperate coils, and all will come with 5 wires...

89-94 require a 5th wire from the coil to the distributor, 95-98 have distributors with internal coils and require only 4.
