I had my harness extended for whatever reason at the o2 sensor. I had it set up fine and :blah: Well, anyway, one day im driving around and i started smelling this melting smell. I look around and finally find that the harness for the o2 sensor had fallen down onto my turbo extension and melted. I dont have the CEL harness hooked up so the light wouldnt come on anyway. I nkow its like an rich/lean monitor for the ecu, but do I need to get a new sensor and sr harness connector? The car seems to run fine, even at high boost..so im not sure if i really need to do it.

im pretty sure the ecu defaults to rich when it loses an 02 signal, so thats probably why you havent noticed much. if just the wires and connectors melted, can you just splice new wire in? i would definately replace it, you are gonna have pretty bad gas mileage and maybe foul up the plugs.

O2 sensor is ignored at high load, and WOT conditions...so it will still make good power with or without an O2 sensor hooked up.

The ECU uses fuel maps rather than O2 feedabck in that situation...

Now, part throttle and cruising is where the O2 comes into play, to net you good gas mileage. So for that, replace it.

well, im still getting pretty good economy (180km~ and im still at 3/4 tank) IT didnt melt all the way through, maybe about half. Maybe the wires are still connected somewhere in there. It just looks ugly. :hsdance:
