Hey all. I have a swapped s14 currently using the stock r200 diff welded. I have a j30 diff. My only goal. Is to get the longer gear since I daily it. I tried mounting the j30 by myself. The thing is heavy as crap but when it comes to mount the shaft, it won't fit!!

So now my question is , can I take the ring gear off the j30 and put it in the stock r200 housing? Will I run any issues since the r200 is welded? And after doing some research, I need to change the output shaft as well correct?

You have to swap both the ring and pinion gears, they are a married set.

The ring and pinion gears are the one that is attached to the propeller shaft right? What size bolt do I need to remove the mount? 30 mm?

Pinion is attached to the drive shaft. The ring gear is attached to your diff. Which your axles slide into. The pinion nut is larger, I have no idea how big though.

Ok awesome thanks. Just to clarify. The j30 ring and pinion will fit the r200 casing right before I take everything off? I have to take it to the shop since Myingersoll is still in the mail.

They didn't swap the pinion gear out..is that gonna be an issues in the long run?

Like I said, ring and pinions are married sets from the factory, they should be swapped together. Just because they didn't, doesn't mean it's right. If you're going to do something, do it once. That will be an issue down the road. Unusual noises and wear can occur from using a different pinion.

You'll have to re-shim for the j30 ring gear.
