I do this every once in a while... We all have our favorite "whatever" in whatever it is we like, be it music, movies, porn, whatever it is we enjoy... I have a favorite hip hop group... Yesterday, for the 7th time in the last 11 years, The Roots released a new album. This makes the 6th studio album, and they have one live album as well... I got it about 8am yesterday when tarhet opened and have listened to it at least 9 times now, GO GET IT!!! Get like 5 copies for each family member. Don't bitch about price, Geffen records released it at the pricebusters price of $8.99, but I haven't the earthliest of ideas how long that will last, seeing as how I have gotten the last 4 albums the day they came out. Picture, for those of you who won't remember the text of my post? This picture will show on one image EACH of the 4 possible covers:

... now enjoy yourself, this is a new Roots' album bitch.

well everytime am listing to the radio I never hear a Roots song, so no its not mainstream (to me it isn't) and it doesn't sound like the rest.

The one that stands out to me is "Boom!" It's number 109 on the track listing on the album, because the track listing has been counting since their first album "Organix" from 1 to number 112 on this album, cool and creative as hell in itself, but the song is literally #7 on THIS album... I like it because Blackthought FLAWLESSLY impersonates Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap, right down to their voices AND styles for verses on this song. He does this without error to the point that I was listening to the album for the 3rd time before I realized that it was Blackthought and not Big Daddy Kane and Kool G Rap. The only thing that tipped me off is that Kool G's voice wasn't QUITE high pitched enough, then I got home and had a chance to read the liner notes.

I agree, I had NOT heard the lead single "Don't Say Nothin" on the local radio station, and only knew that it was the lead single because of okayplayer.com... Hell, I hadn't seen the video for it until today, the day AFTER the album came out. The fact remains that there are some artists/groups that will continue to earn my purchase of their album until they prove me otherwise. That being said, the next Roots' album would be purchased sight unseen if I didn't already know that they have another live album and DVD releasing later this year or early next year.
