Hello mates!
Hopefully I can get some feedback/advice/suggestions from knowledgeable folks who have first hand experience with this. Thank you in advanced!

A little background on my "old" setup
I have an S14 with the manual booster, and i've ran the Z32 fronts with stock rears for like 8 years, and it's time for a change.

New setup
I have some 350z Brembo 4 pot calipers and rotors with a 12.3" rear rotor on STOCK S14 calipers in order to keep proper 70/30 brake bias

Reason for upgrading
The Z32s felt a little weak when I really went hard on them - possibly because of the BM44 BMC that I had. I got the 350z calipers for cheap, and yes.. there's some BLING factor involved :naughty:

My question
The 350z Brembo calipers have the same number of pistons as the Z32 ones, but overall piston area is bigger and also has a larger brake pad. I did some torque math, and the clamping power is just a bit stronger than the Z32s, but the larger rotor is what really gives it more total brake torque.

I'm thinking that a 15/16 BMC will work fine with the manual brake booster, 350z fronts, and Stock S14 Rears. The JDM S14s came with 4 pot fronts and OEM rears, and the manuals kept the 15/16 BMC and small Booster. The ABS/auto models got a 1" BMC and the dual diaphragm booster.

The S15 came with 4 pot fronts and stock S14 sized rears, but with a 1" BMC and all have the larger dual diaphragm booster, BUT they all had ABS.

To stop my ranting - would the 15/16 BMC suffice, or will the 1" BMC from a 1993 Q45 be enough? I'm afraid that the 1" BMC will be too stiff with a manual booster, and I would have to upgrade to a dual diaphram one. <-- Both of the BMCs i'm looking at have the proper split point and bias like the S13 and JDM S14 BMCs.

THANKS A TON FELLAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm running evo brembos in front with z32 rears on a slim booster and 17/16 master on my s13. The car is still quite front bias. The pedal is also very stiff with the 17/16. I'm going to switch to a 15/16 soon. I hear it is better for dd cars from the guys over on nrr.

I'm fairly certain theirs no way to get around the bias issue except to shim the master and install an external prop valve for the rear.

96 S14 - no ABS
My current setup is STI Brembo front and rear with a 17/16 BMC along with the manual booster. Pedal feel is not bad from when I was running z32 all around, its not crazy stiff I think it feels just right, I don't like super soft brake pedal.

98 S14 - no ABS
Before I sold my other S14 it was running the basically the same setup as above but instead of STI/EVO brembo calipers I had R33 GTR V-Spec brembos front and rear(same as z33 but no need to drill out spindle for bigger bolts) using a 1" BMC and a manual booster. Pedal feel was ever so slightly softer but not enough to even really notice.

Not sure if it helps since you will be running stock rears with the brembo up front, I suggest you upgrade the rear as well to z32 since the front will have more brake bias with the larger caliper setup.

I'm actually debating of going back to my old 30mm Z32 alum calipers all around since the weight of the rotors and calipers really add on quite a bit of sprung weight to the front suspension. I was looking into a larger 2pc rotor upgrade while keeping the z32 caliper to at least fill up the extra rotor space the larger brembo setup fills up. Also rim selection opens up more for spares since the caliper is not nearly as large as the brembo. Just some stuff to think about. Z32 brakes were plenty for my needs even with a 300-350whp, but you are spot on about the bling factor they do look really nice esp peeking through some fresh set of wheels. Decisions decisions!
