Anyone ever bought a car or shell from a junkyard? Is it possible? I live in California where there is at least one law concerning EVERY thing automotive, so I can imagine it might not even be allowed.
Has anyone ever picked up a project car from a scrap yard before?

Have you checked with a junkyard to see if they will even sell you a whole car? They useually just want to part them out cause they can make more money that way.

iirc aceinhole bought a junkyard s14 shell and is now autocrossing (quite successfully) in it. there was a big old thread about his buildup after he got the shell. put it together damn quick.
anyway, yes i think you can buy shells and put a car together. the car would probably be under a salvage title (duh).

A yard near here has an FD shell, stripped, but in relatively good shape, frame and body wise. We've been thinking of buying it for a while now...
