So I'm sure I messed something up. Put a boost controller on my car yesterday and adjusted it to 9 psi. Car ran great had a little more power, so I left it alone. Well today on the way home from work I could feel it wasn't really running right, so I stayed out of the boost and kept going home. Get close to home and it wont idle at all, it will barely stay running, like maybe a few hundred RPMs. Also its running really rich, so much that there is black smoke coming from exhaust. I need to get to work tomorrow so where should I start trying to find the problem?
It will still drive, turbo still spools, has 20" vacuum, narrowband O2 reads full rich now all the time. I need help guys.

Just went back out to check a few things I have been reading. I did search but wanted some opinions. I'm thinking it might be the temp sensor for the ECU. Once motor cooled down and I started it, it runs fine now. No smoke and no crazy idle. Gonna stick a new temp sensor in tomorrow and hope that fixes it.
Anything else I should check?

I'd check for any vacuum leaks at all the vac lines for the boost controller and any boost leaks as well.cleaning your maf with some cleaner spray wouldn't hurt either.if the problem wasn't there before then you most likely created it so just double check everything you touched/installed and maybe find out what's wrong.

I will double check the controller, I planned on going over all the vacuum lines today. I cleaned the MAF a few weeks ago. I was gonna pull the IACV today and clean it also.

Ok changed out the temp sensor and it runs fine once warmed up now. I noticed the spot on intercooler pipe that I put vacuum line to wiggles a little bit so I have to fix that. I also broke the clip that goes to temp sensor so I'm on the way to junk yard to find a plug
EDIT: actually I just seen that the parts store has the plug, gonna go grab one and get that taken care of. then I gotta pull that intercooler pipe and fix that port.

Well I have driven it maybe 30 minutes tonight. Seems to be doing fine now. Amazing what a temp sensor can do I guess. Gonna give it a few days and see how it does.

I'd fix that spot on the intercooler you're talking about because a boost leak would cause exactly your problems.it will only run better if you do

Is temporarily fixed with jbweld :tweak: gonna weld it and fix it right when I get back to the shop next week. It has to have been leaking though because the car is another at higher rpms now. Jbweld seems to be holding up for now though. It's on the inter cooler pipe right after the turbo. The guy I bought the car from just had electrical tape wrapped around it and rtv t seal it smh
