Hi all,
I'm trying to swap the z32 speedo, Tach and oil gauge into my 240 cluster. I've done some searching but have come up with nothing. Has anybody ever done this one before that could help me figure out how to wire it in? I like the look of the z32 gauges but would like to retain a stockish look.. I already have the z32 cluster sitting in the garage but just not sure where to start. Any help is appreciated thanks

I haven't done this but if I did, my approach would be to gather up the Instrumentation sections of the respective Factory Service Manuals. Each cluster will have a specific number of pinouts with the wire color and it's destination in the Main Harness. Make a spreadsheet so you can "map" the Main Harness (dash harness) circuits from your 240 to the Z32 cluster. Ground circuits and +12V (switched/constant) circuits are easy to map.
Next, I would make a list of the sensors which signal the cluster such as speedo sender, engine temp, engine rpm, and research whether these translate between platforms. Sometimes Nissan uses the exact sensor for several engines, for example, the early 90s USDM Maxima SE and many RB25DET Fast Idle FICD (Variable Cam Timing) solenoids are the same part number. Lastly, map the warning lamps / clust illumination lamps where you've swapped internals.
As far as the physical aspect, you could "fit" the whole cluster into the 240 opening and make a custom trim piece (Toby Broadfield does some wicked work like this, Google: Toby Broadfield's Blog). the other option is to "graft" the Z32 housing to the 240 housing, so you use the 240 clear plastic and mounting points but have the Z32 face and internals.
Hope this helps. BTW, I have a complete set of harness plugs with pigtails from a 1990 Z32 NA I can let you have on the cheap if you go that route. Good luck!

right of the bat I can tell you the z32 gauges are smaller in diameter, and totally round, instead of crescent shaped like the s13. (assuming you have an s13 by your name)
Sizing aside....
-the speedometer reading should match up as long as it came out of a NA Z32.
-the tach will read 2/3 of what the actual RPMS are.. you will need a Tach adapter for it to read properly.
-you would need the oil pressure sending unit from a Z32 in order to use the in-dash oil pressure gauge, and then you would have to send a wire all the way to the gauge from the OPSU
my recommendation, save the time, and the headache, and just get an electric oil pressure gauge,
Why? There are soo many other oem gauge clusters I would choose over the Z32 esp if you are going to put the time and work to cross reference the cluster wires to make it work.
If not I would just talk to Broadfield and have him build you a custom cluster with speedhut gauges.
