Hey Guys, I'm Brian.
About Ten years ago or so, I had a fairly nice, well rounded S13 Coupe with a very clean SR swap. It was a father son project that I still kick myself for getting rid of a decade later. I have had a few great cars and a few shitboxes since (more to come on those once I update this thread). I recently sold my 1969 Firebird Coupe and decided it was time to fill that void. I decided an S14 was the only way to go. I was dead set on my decision, it would be a Kouki S14 in either White, Red, or Silver. I originally started looking for bone stock cars with which I would do an S14 SR swap and start from scratch. Iam working on a fairly decent budget, I am going to build my ULTIMATE S14. I eventually opened my criteria up to include cleanly swapped cars. Well, as luck would have it, I stumbled across a very solid 97, Ultra Red S14 with a fresh S15 Spec R SR20DET swap about 3 Hours from home. The car was relatively low mileage, all the VIN's matched, All of the Glass was OEM, the interior was clean, and she was ready to go!!
Long Story Short, I snagged her up! The Previous owner did a great job with the swap, and did not hesitate to provide me with any and all information concerning the car. I will absolutely have to change a few things, but Charles provided me with a wonderful canvas to start my build.
A current agenda is posted at the bottom. I will be updating this build thread as I go along, both editing the original post, and keeping track of my progress with pictures and small write-ups along the way.
It feels great to be back in the game. 10 years is a long time; upon my return to Zilvia, I've noticed the scene has changed drastically. I feel like an OG. This will NOT be a Drift car. It will see Autocross Duty, hopefully a few HPDE's and some open track days at a few Tracks in driving distance. It will be my street warrior to carve up all of the great roads here in the mountains of Southwestern Virginia and Southern West Virginia. I'm looking for a Stable suspension, but something that is compliant enough and has enough travel to absorb all of the imperfections this region has to offer. It will get some fat rubber, and it will always have it's Air Conditioning. :2f2f:
It's a bit late... and I didn't get home until 3:30 this morning after getting the car. I'll update this post tomorrow with a better introduction, some history of my past builds, and finally snap some proper pictures with the Trusty Nikon!
Cheers
Brian

Great place to start! I hear ya on the OG position, I previously had a S13 back in 2004 and sold it and got a S14 a little over a year ago.... Very different scene and happy to see someone else with the "anti-drift" state of mind!

Edit: I bet your steering wobble at 60mph is your outer tierod bushings. I see that it says they were replaced but I would still peek at them.

Thank you sir!! I'm going to be peeking at everything, I sort of think it might be the steering rack bushings.

I actually joined last night. I'm absolutely going with a FEAL setup, just from previous experience, Odi at Feal really has set me up well in the past. The car will be sitting a good bit higher once I get the new setup. I'm not a fan of the SLAMMED stuff... It gets your suspension geometry out of whack and it's down right terrible when you want to go fast on old, beat up, mountain roads... Adjustable Sways have always done me well also. Im a fan of OEM Rubber bushings in most places, but certain spots warrant a poly setup.
I've been digesting a few threads on NRR. Ill keep at it :D
Im planning on having Odi build me a set with a longer travel than normal using helper springs and longer shock bodies. My only problem right now is deciding what spring rates I want to go with.
FWIW, FEAL builds GREAT setups. I ran them on my Sti and was VERY impressed. Tight as could be, but absolutely, 100% road better, more compliant, and more stable on the street than the OEM suspension setup.
Also, Feal will build anything to your specs :D

Not trying to sell, I just have noticed I haven't seen much on FEAL in this realm. It's nice stuff. not off the shelf shock bodies with stiff springs like a lot of coilover manufacturers.

Updates:
SO, I finally have 4 working headlights (2 high, 2 low)... I need to adjust them... They have some sort of UNKNOWN projector in them. Definitely not stock... I had to make some harnesses to run plain bulbs... It had some Xentec garbage HID kits in all 4 sockets... I also need to find two of the rubber boots to help seal off the lights.
Ultimately they are going to have to be taken apart. I see a lot of chrome peel inside, and I need to block off some light areas that are shining through at certain areas. At least they still have all of their tabs and the glass is in great shape!!
On the agenda today is Calling JGY Customs and JSPEC to try and find an OEM trans mount and an OEM shifter..... I really need to get this thing back on some stock rubbers.
I also need to get me a new exhaust and a new blow off valve.
I really want to order a nice BlitZ Nurspec R, which is what I had on my S13 (675$) but wow is it tempting to just buy a nice, stainless steel no name exhaust for $150-$300.... like Godspeed or Topspeed... in the end.. It's just a bunch of piping....
I need a new BOV too... this cheap CX racing piece is causing my idle to stumble... I suppose I'll suck it up and buy an HKS SSQV...

Whatever you do, DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT, do any business with JGY! After all these years, I am surprised after all the litigation, lawsuits and issues they are still in business..........:picardfp:
Great purchase otherwise!

I did tons of business with JGY ten years ago, and never had an issue. I put over 60,000 miles on my redtop before I sold it, without issue. Bought tons of parts from them for that car... had them install differentials in the car... LOTS OF BUSINESS.. and NEVER an issue...
To be fair, I live close enough that I get to go to the shop anytime I buy anything or deal with anything. But I always appreciated having them close to home.. especially living here in the mountains.
I do appreciate the information though, I'd be curious to hear about some of the experiences regardless.
And Thank you! Im loving having another S-Chassis!!

Subed! Been in this scene since 2002 and picked up my Zenki in 03 and had the SR swapped in the fall of 03. Nothing against the current trend in the S-Chassis scene but its nice to see someone who isnt following the bandwagon per say. Currently building my car for weekend fun and 1/4 abuse....no drifting for me as well.

The scene certainly has changed!! I hope to run mine in the 1/8th a few times at the local track just to play around!
Ive been discussing suspension setups with Feal..
Look like I'm absolutely going to order a long travel setup.
Im trying to decided on whether to go with 8k-5k Swift Springs with helper springs to aid in droop, or go with a 6k-4k setup using just tall Swift Springs on the long travel bodies.
I want something that is going to stay planted on rough, bumpy roads and keep me from lifting tires. The owner believes that the 6k-4k setup on long travel shocks would do me fine! Im going to iron it out with him tomorrow.
He said this would be the FIRST long travel setup he has done on an S-Chassis... EVERYONE wants to go super low and flush, he says... LOL I just need to do some measuring and make sure that I will be able to go low enough... I do know that I want it sitting at least 1.5"-2" higher than it is now... OMG.. My LCA's have to go UP from the subframe mount to the spindles as it sits... talk about effing up your suspension geometry...

Well, I can cross a few things off the list
Picked up:
OEM Shifter
OEM Transmission Mount
Turbo XS Type H-RFL Blow Off Valve
VHT Wrinkle Red Valve Cover Paint
VHT Real Red Brake Caliper Paint
I really think I have a boost leak coming from this cheap, knock off BOV....
I also desperately need to figure out what this shimmy is between 55mph-75mph..

Nice. Is Feal charging you extra for your custom set of 441s?
Yes, they are a bit more than a standard Feal 441 S14 kit. The standard kit uses the shorter shock bodies with 8k front and 5k rear.
I just ordered them actually.
Long travel shocks, with Tall Swift Springs. 6k in the Front and 4k for the rear. He said it would likely be a 10" spring in the rear and a 9" in the front I believe, but don't quote me on that. This setup should help keep me planted on the rough roads we have here in the mountains and help me stay planted on the rough AutoX courses the BRR-SCCA runs as well.
I wanted something compliant, and something that had enough droop and compression to keep the car from bouncing and hopping around. The car should have 5 and 5/8" travel. For a comparison, he said my STi with Feal 441's (the standard kit with short shocks) would have had only around 4" ... So im gaining roughly .8" of compression and .8" of droop. The car should soak up the imprefections much better too!
Im super stoked to get them.
The only draw back is the car can't be slammed with the long shock bodies, but he says it should still be able to go 2.5-3" lower than stock, which I plenty for me.
D2 coilovers will be for sale soon!!! only 3-4,000 miles on them. Super clean.

Jgy... i took my old up there so they could fix my hacked up wiring harness. They did a good job on that and we're really helpful at all times. But about a year ago i ordered a 'blitz' cone filter and maf adapter fromthem for my rb20. I got the order on a Friday while I was at work, and I worked weekend shift 13 hour days, so I just assumed it'd be the correct item. Opened the box Monday and it's some bullshit filter with a garbage looking ebay maf adapter. So I call them and they say I should have called them the day of, they can't refund me nor swap out the item because I can't prove I didn't get it. If i wanted to exchange the item I should have called them the day of. So I just suck it up and call it a lose and won't do any more business with them. Here's the kicker, I go to put that shitty adaptor on my car and guess what? It doesn't even fit. I call them again and they tell me to drill some holes in it. Customer service at its finest! Seems to be the story is if you order parts from them they will fuck you over, but if you're able to go in person they'll help you out.

Jgy... i took my old up there so they could fix my hacked up wiring harness. That seems to be the consensus!! I'll continue to deal until I feel like I have had a problem, but ten years and counting, Jason has been really decent with me. Granted, I have been messing with them since their first year in business.
Thank you!! im loving it!
Yesterday I installed Stock S15 motor mounts and a Stock Transmission mount... SOOOOOOoo much smoother.
Today, I'm fighting with installing the stock shifter while it's in the car. Part of me wants to disassemble the stock shifter and see if I can change the orientation of the lever... That way 2nd and 4th are closer to me... and 1,3,5th are not quite so far away...
Has anyone done this?? to me, the levers seem as if they bend the wrong way, which is what my main problem with this short shifter was.... the reach for 5th was ridiculous when it seems I could have the lever bent back towards me and be more comfortable.

no, most people move their seats up. if you can't reach, then you're too far away from the wheel, pedals and shifter. "but its not comfy" suck it up and get used to it

Ummm NO, I found a much better solution. I wasn't too far from the wheels, or the pedals, the bend in the shifter was my only reach problem, and I actually have some fairly long arms. I prefer to keep my whole body comfortable, legs extended, back straight up, and my arms at about half bend. I was able to reverse the shift lever in order to make it bend back towards the driver instead of towards the front of the car.
After installing the stock shifter, stock trans mount.. and stock motor mounts.. it was entirely different car!!!
Too different... SOOOo.. My biggest beef was the shifter orientation.. how far forward 1st, 3rd, and 5th were... SOooo.. I dissected the stock shifter and reversed the lever.. Well.. That felt much better, but not good enough...
Next, I reinstalled the Circuit Sports Poly Trans Mount.. That was an improvement. But the stock shifter still wasn't cutting it, even though I did like that it came back further after I reversed it.
Next, I dissected the Circuit Sports Short Shifter. I was able to reverse the lever in it as well.
So now, I am on Stock S15 Motor Mounts, A Circuit Sports Transmission Mount, and a Circuit Sports Short Shift Kit with the Shift lever reversed for better reach..
MUCH BETTER!!! No longer is 5th gear out of reach. The shifter is still a bit chunky, but this is pretty familiar to me having owned an STI for 5 years with a TIC ultimate shift kit.
Next up is to get this steering wobble from 55-75 figured out!!

See, that's what I thought when I first bought the car, but then I went and picked up an OEM shifter and it was in the same orientation ??? Either way, it's all good now! :D I for some reason knew I didn't remember my s13's shifter being that far forward.

I'm in middle Tennessee, about 5 hours away. At the time the only shop here that would even touch my car was Carma performance...what a joke that place was. So I searched and found on the net jgycustoms.com.. the closest place to me. Im sure there were probably other shops around, but I couldn't find them at the time.

Well,
I got rid of this knock off BOV and installed a TurboXS Type-S RFL
Much better response, the old knock off had to be leaking...
I also unistalled the ISIS Blast Pipes and installed an ISIS GT Spec, non resonated, Catback exhaust
I like the sound better, it's definitely more quiet, even without the silencer(which makes it ridiculously soft). The Full ISIS Blast pipe setup is now for sale!!!
ALSO, I need to identify this rear diff.
I have an OEM VLSD sitting here and I am trying to figure out what I will need to install it.
I though at first it was a J30 diff, but it has no ABS ring. It came from JSPEC in VA, and Im starting to think it was an S14 OEM VLSD from a Japanese Silvia. It does have the 5 Bolt output flanges on it, so I need to either swap axles or I need to swap the output shafts?
Is it possible for me to just swap the output shafts from my stock open diff (6 bolt flange) to this diff?
It doesn't look like this one has a longer snout for the ABS so my driveshaft should be good, correct?

I don't think those stub shafts on the diff swap over. I can't remember for sure. I might be able to pull my 5 bolt shafts and bring them down with me in a few weeks. I think I have to go back to an open diff for next year as i want to go to a 1.5 way diff, so the VLSD axles are useless to me.
As for your organization of a local meet... CCVT car show is on the 25th... I'm planning on being there. Don't think I'll have my S14 with me, but I'll buy those blast pipes off you there if you still have them.

Probably non-abs R33 GTS-T.
It'll be a 37:9 ratio rather than 49:12 (so 4.11 vs 4.08).
I have one sitting in my garage that I actually pulled apart this weekend that came out of a friend's r33.

Installing z32 rear brakes
Stainless lines
FEAL coilovers
I'm also doing a little refinishing on the calipers. I have 30mm aluminum front 4pots and the rear 2pots. Pretty excited to get that all sewn up
I also ordered some Voodoo13 tension rods and some Voodoo13 rear toe rods. I currently have Isis toe and traction rods, and cusco camber rods... one heim on the rear toe rods was bad, so I figured I would start upgrading everything slowly to something that has standard threaded heims.
I'm stoked to get them in, Voodoo13 stuff looks soooo nice, plus that nice "made in America" factor
My Nardi Gara Sport and a new e brake knob arrived also.
New boots have been ordered, lost in shipping and reordered from topgaiters
Lastly, just before I took it apart this time I took a few hours and installed some Energy Suspension Poly Steering Rack bushings. .. that was my favorite mod so far. .. getting some nice feedback Out of my steering now and it's much tighter and more direct.
Oh yea. Picked up a new OTRE too...
Big things, Big things. ...
Oh yea. .. might have scored some vlsd 6 bolt output flanges so I can get this diff installed

My S14 and it had 30mm Z32 Aluminum calipers on the front already. Im in the middle of installing z32 rear brakes and decided I would take all four calipers and paint them.
Well, after painting them, I noticed this....
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a218/brianglawson/1997%20Nissan%20Silvia/badbrake.jpg (http://s12.photobucket.com/user/brianglawson/media/1997%20Nissan%20Silvia/badbrake.jpg.html)
This is the fitting that screws into the back of the caliper, which then allows the Stainless brake lines to attach.
I know the threads going into the caliper are M10x1.0 and that end obviously has an inverted flare. Are the male threads on the other side (the side that im holding with my finger) also M10x1.0 or would they be -3AN or -4AN???
I haven't found anything like it at the local parts stores, it doesn't help that the employees there don't even know where to begin to look... idiots.. "who made a 300zx??"
Anyway.. I can't believe the previous owner tightened it so much that this happened...

Scored some SSR Competition Type C wheels for the S14 yesterday!!!
17x8.5 +42 Front and 17x9.5 +35 (i believe) rear
When I went to buy them, I was told they were +35 front and rear, but I noticed the front were actually+42. I planned on running spacers anyway, so no biggie. I like getting the higher offset and being able to fine tune how they sit.
Im thinking a 10-11mm spacer in the front and a 3-4mm spacer in the rear would be good.
I need to buy some new extended lugs for the rear since the z32 hubs I installed don't have extended studs like my old one... Need to find some good spacers also

Ill upload some wheel pics shortly.
I got some 20mm hubcentric spacers for the front and 5mm hubcentric spacers for the rear. The edge of the rear wheel will be sitting out 5mm further from the hub than the edge of the front wheel. Sits good in the wheel wells I believe.
I have the car sitting on the ground, I have to trim some plastic in the rear passenger well to make room for those big tires.
My front is also sitting uneven, 1/4 higher on the passenger side with the coilovers both set equally to their lowest setting. I believe I am going to have FEAL make some custom brackets that will give me one more inch of low. I really only want about another 1/4 inch on the high side, but id like to have the flexibility. Plus, when I get new tires, I will get 255/40 and will want to close that gap a bit.
I also have to keep in mind that I will have some actual up travel!! doh!
For now, I have been playing with my vinyl plotter, Im going to make me an oil cap decal for this generic "nismo" ebay oil cap I got.

I also decided to go with some Smoothed Aluminum calipers front and rear. So I will be using decals for the logo on the caliper.
I have my calipers painted red, so im trying to decide what color vinyl to use. White, Silver, Gold, Green....
Im also trying to decide what to put on them....
"NISSAN", "SILVIA", "SUMITOMO", "NISMO", "STOP", "BREMBO" etc... probably wouldn't do Brembo... but you get the idea...

Im running 255/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear.
with the spacers, I'm running 17x8.5 +22 (originally +42) front and 17x9.5 +30 rear (originally +35)
I personally love how they sit. A little bit of camber front and rear and I think they are the definition of how a flush Wheel Tire combo should sit. I despise flush wheels only with stretched tires. I like tires that are at least square with the wheel.
You will likely want 5-8mm spacers for the front so you can clear your suspension with the inside of the tire/wheel
The rear will sit good as is, but I chose to get an extra 5mm for the rear for a little more aggressive fitment. At 17x8.5+22 and 17x9.5+35 the space between the hub and the outer edge of the wheels are equal, so with the extra 5mm in the back, it gives it that good little stagger

Yeah I agree, the stretched tire thing isn't for me. Especially not with a slow 5.3 turbo build....need as much tire as I can.
I haven't dropped the setup on the car yet but currently I am on 225/40 front and 275/50 rears. Getting the fender work done for the 275 setup then dropping to a 255/40 while I stay NA. The. 275s will go back on once my out of state move is complete.
Will be using a 10mm spacer up front and 5mm rear.....slip on just like yours. Switch over to CTSV front calipers so I will need a little more room due to the size of these big calipers. Can't wait to see your car in its final stance. Keep up he good work bud.

Nice! im sure you will be happy with how they sit.
Do you have a build thread or any pics? I'd love to follow along.
My spacers were cheap, they are aluminum, hub centric, and included (though i didnt need them, it is nice to have spacers) Extended lug studs with them. They were $53. The rear are also hubcentric aluminum, they were $18 from a different seller. I guess at least I will have a bunch of spare extended studs. Those are always a pain to find in singles when you have one mess up

No build thread....its pathetic how little time I get to spend at the shop so its not even worthy of a build thread. I will put a brief thread together when its all done to help anyone that may need info.
I have ARP extended studs on there now so I should go with slip on but if you can PM me the info about where you got them. I have some H&R 20mm sitting in my garage which I am planning to sell at some point.

Cars looking dope broski. If you wanted to slam it like 2 inches lower howi much fender work do you think you would need?
TONS haha.. I have 1.5* of camber at all four corners. 17x8.5+22 and 17x9.5+30 really pushes em out.... Then with the 255/45 in the front and the275/40 in the rear.. I really use up all the room I have.
My fenders are rolled pretty hard too....
In the rear, on the passenger side, I am a c&%$ hair away from rubbing some stuff in the back of the wheel well on the inside, and obviously am still really close to my rolled fender.
I want rubber, and traction.. so I chose lots of meat and lots of travel, thus I need a little bit of room for the wheels to articulate. The front coilovers are MAXED out low... I even had to remove one of the lock rings on the passenger side, just to get it as low as the driver.

Thank you! Having previously done a swap that I wired myself, I really appreciate having the wiring specialties harness on this. Not that It was hard to wire my other one, but I love that all of my clips are fresh and easy to work with. No dry, brittle stuff to break.

Don't know if it has already been said, but you should verify the injector color. That's definitely a kouki S14 head, which leads me to believe it is an s14 motor. Nice built though

Motor actually came from a complete s15 clip, was running before pulled too. Always appreciate someone looking out though! Thanks!

^^They do engine swaps in Japan too. Very possible they changed the head or even replaced the motor before it became a half cut.

Oh, absolutely. But It does have the correct injectors. Came from a low mileage clip, 6 Speed and all.
What would be the tell tale sign of a head swap

Did you ever find the steering wheel issue at 60+mph?
brianglawson
01-26-2015, 09:10 AM
Sooo.....
My car has a dragging noise when the clutch is depressed. It used to only do it when it was cold in the mornings, now it does it all the time, even after the car is warm. Shifting is getting difficult as well.
I haven't been driving the car, just to ensure I have the best chance of mitigating any damage. I'm wondering if it could be something simple like air in the clutch master cylinder or even a new one... The car has a Spec 6 puck and a resurfaced OEM s14 flywheel. I'm hoping the flywheel was machined properly.
I sort of feared it was low on fluid perhaps, and I added some as my first attempt at getting lucky, but that didn't seem to help.

Do you have the new style SPEC throw out bearing? The old style had issues often but the new style seemed to have fixed the issue.
brianglawson
01-27-2015, 06:59 AM
The clutch was installed by the previous owner earlier this year, do you happen to know when they phased the old style out? The type of problem I'm having is similar to a bad throw out. ... it is very low mileage though. .. only about 5,000

Did you ever find the steering wheel issue at 60+mph?
Not directly, but it went away with new tie rod end, poly steering rack bushings, and voodoo13 tension rods. ..
I installed all of that, plus new coilovers, wheels, and tires at the same time. ..
2muchboost
01-27-2015, 07:38 AM
Not sure Brian but I would give them a shout if you want to keep using the SPEC. Everyone I know running one and has upgraded to the solid hub has had no issues. I would say 80% of people using the older style has had similar issues.
The issue happened to some people at under 1k miles..,,,something about the hydraulics for the old throw out bearing hub not working properly.
brianglawson
04-01-2015, 12:15 PM
Well, it's been a while...
Right now, I'm in the process of dropping my transmission.. it's ready to fall out.. just hung up on the tunnel. Im suspecting my less than 4k mile Spec Throwout Bearing is toasted.... I will replace it with an OEM Nissan unit if that's indeed the case....

Drop (NOT remove) the front subframe to give you enough clearance.
I have a S14 as well, and just clearance the Tunnel, before re-install of the gearbox, with a BFH.
Also, make sure the clutch alignment tool actually works correctly. The plastic one i got from Clutchmasters was rubbish and had me struggling to refit the gearbox before realizing the clutch disk itself was out of place. You may have to install, test fit and remove (inclusive of gearbox) a few times if so (just make sure NOT to fubar the pilot bushing. I luckily had several).

I have pulled the transmission. I have the Throwout bearing out... I can grab the inner race and the outer race and get a VERY slight amount of play between the two.. but it spins smooth and quiet as could be... I took it to a local mechanic and they said it was fine.... When pressure is on it, it spins smooth...
There is a video below of the actual noise, and below that is a video examining the removed throwout bearing.
HERE IS A VIDEO OF THE ACTUAL NOISE

So what now???? Throwout Bearing?? Pilot Bearing?? Transmission shaft bearing???

Honestly, I don't think my bearing should have that little bit of play between the races, but what my local mechanic said makes sense... that it has pressure on it.. and it spins smooth and tight.
I did notice that when I first took the transmission out, (this is a first for me in many years) and was playing with the shifter fork and how it worked. When I would move the fork/Throwout bearing in and out, sometimes it felt like it wanted to hang up. Now, I'm thinking I was probably pulling it out further than it typically would. It has[d] plenty of lubricant on it. When I was driving the car, It shifted great, never had any funky shifts or never felt like anything was hanging up.... as you can hear in the video... when I had pressure on the clutch and the car was being given some gas, I would get that whining/grinding/whirling/dragging noise....
I'm about to make another video..
So I have the transmission sitting on the floor; I reinstalled my shifter and made sure it was still in neutral. Now, I spin the input shaft and I do hear some noise rattling around. My mechanic suggested that it might be the input shaft bearing inside the transmission. While I spin the input shaft, I hear some fairly loud, inconsistent noise coming from the gear box. I hear it all the same when I put it in a gear. Now I'm kind of wondering if it is, indeed, the bearing in the transmission. The def. sounds like it could be a bad bearing.
Im going to go make a video and i'll post it up.

If you have the clutch in (ie pressed down) and it makes the whirring noise, wouldn't that be indicative of a bad pilot bearing? Just spitballin' here.

Typically, that's indicative of a Throwout Bearing. If a Pilot bearing is bad, usually it will make noise at idle without the clutch depressed; like in neutral, idling. .. This is usually though... other circumstances can easily make it different. Like I'm dealing with...

I HIGHLY recommend FEAL Suspension. Odi is the man!! This is my third FEAL setup.. I had him rebuild and revalve the stock setup on my Sti, and I also had off the shelf FEAL coilovers on my Sti later on.... These are custom spec'd and would be closer to his Gravel kits... But for not much more money, he will build you something custom. Im sure you could get the same setup I have now... I love it... They are Long travel Housings, with the longest Swift Springs available, 6k front, and 4k rear. I have over 5" of travel with this setup. Just be aware that this is as low as I can go in the front due to the longer housings; I don't mind though... I love my stance right now and I like running real rubber so I need height to fit it.

Sooooo Update:
I got the transmission out.... and the Throwout bearing is fine... the input shat bearing is fine... Pilot bearing seems fine feeling in..... Im trying to get the transmission reinstalled and am having more trouble than I am when I removed it!! to remove it, I ended up lowering the subframe and rotating the transmission 180* and got it out.... hurt my back pretty bad in the process.... as I did it by myself.. LOL Im starting to really think that it was my slave cylinder or master cylinder getting weak.... it happened gradually, but fast.... not typical of a bearing... bearings usually have a long fail process... whereas a hydraulic piece will show signs of inoperability and then very quickly deteriorate to non functional....
Anyway... im trying to get it back in; I feel like I have tried about every rotation possible. I can't get this sucker back in.....
Im starting to think I will have to jack the motor up and remove the motor mounts and set it down metal on metal........
Anyone have any input??

Loosen motor mounts, jack up the motor to tilt it back and/or wedge a 4x4 block between the downpipe and the car to tilt the motor back.
That should free up the space you need.
I just had my trans out last week and actually ended up just using two jacks to get the trans back in with minimal lifting.

Well, I have gotten my S14 back together and been driving it for close to a month.
Recent Mods and Maintenance:
Reinstalled Transmission
New OEM Dankin Clutch Master Cylinder
New OEM Dankin Clutch Slave Cylinder
New Redline MT-90, GL-4 Gear Oil
Removed Front Mount Intercooler
Removed TurboXS Type H-RFL Blow Off Valve.
Installed OEM S15 Spec-R Side Mount Intercooler
Installed OEM S15 Spec-R Bypass Valve.
I am still getting the same whirrling/grinding/bearing noise as i was before. I had posted the video examining my Throwout bearing, and everyone thought it was normal to have that amount of play in it and that it was fine. I do not believe this. I just purchased a new OEM Dankin Clutch (Exedy) Clutch Replacement Kit for my 2002 RSX Type-S. The throwout bearing in it does not have that small amount of play. I'm thinking I will have to remove the transmission again and install a new TOB.
I think the case here is that the Throwout Bearing sleeve is getting to the part of the input shaft that has the little ring cut out for grease to rest and is getting ever so slightly off kilter and making it make the noise; the noise only happens in a specific part of the throw and only when cold and when using both the clutch and gas pedals. I believe i will find a new Throwout bearing sleeve (the piece the bearing mounts to, and that also connects to the fork) and a new OEM Nissan Throwout bearing. The only other thing i think it could be would be that the pressure plate is putting uneven pressure on the TOB.
Anyway.. The problem is much less frequent now that i have installed the New Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder.
Also, i installed the OEM S15 sidemount and bypass valve. I did this to see if i would make any gains in throttle response and boost lag. More importantly, I did it to see if it would help with drivability. Compared to the FMIC and open atmosphere BOV, the drivability is much better, and running equal boost at around 13lbs, the OEM SMIC does seem to bring a more linear power delivery. However, i do notice that heatsoak is a problem. After installing, i did wire up my second fan to help bring temps down in the engine bay, though i still notice the loss of power when driving hard at higher boost with the SMIC.
With the FMIC and Open Atmosphere TurboXS TypeH-RFL, the car drives something like an old 930, 911 Turbo... Just violent power; the gas pedal acts as almost an on and off switch (due mainly to the Open Atmosphere BOV). In the end, I do believe the car is faster with the FMIC and i do not notice any increase in throttle response or decrease in boost lag with the SMIC; any benefit is solely in the drivability section, but it is a huge benefit.
This being said, i do believe i will reinstall the FMIC. I just need to get a threaded hose adapter to replace the "horn" on my TurboXS BOV so i can recirculate it. I will have to get someone to bend my some new Piping. The CX Racing piping has hose nipples in awful places, especially the large fitting to recirculate a BOV/BPV.
The OEM S15 Spec-R Side Mount Intercooler will be for sale.

Looking clean as usual!! Love this build, keep up the good work and update us when you replace the ToB. Also- something that would help you tremendously with your temps is ducting at the top and especially the bottom - go from the very front of the bumper all the way past the radiator. This will also help keep temps down with the FMIC making it more efficient.

I had a steering shimmy at about 60mph which would come and go every 10 seconds or so/long story short I tried tightening the spring some in the rack and pinion and that fixed the wobble.if it is this you will know by lifting the car and doing a 9:00 - 3:00 wheel shake test and if it wobbles its probably the rack spring may be loose.

Any updates on this? I have always had the same throwout bearing issue as you with my KA AND my current SR.. I have tried OEM and aftermarket TO bearings many times and the noise comes and goes all the time. For my car it depends on the weather it seems. Rainy day the bearing will be grumpy and eventually go away.. If I take a long drive from the mainland to the coast the bearing will be super grumpy the next day for a few days then go away. Really irritating but it hasnt caused any issues.. I have yet to find out why it does this.

Cold weather was what originally brought on the issue..
Since my previous updates/upgrades, the issue is basically non-existent. Every once in a while i may here the whirl, but it's very faint. Now that i know it's the Throwout Bearing making the noise it is of no concern to me. I've held the bearing in my hand, it is smooth and as tight as the new OEM bearing i put in my RSX Type S. I believe it is just the nature of this clutch setup. It's like an off/on switch. Grabs very hard, and pretty instantly. The ONLY time the noise was ever present is when the clutch is getting slipped, such as on steep hills, reversing, etc... This thing has a VERY beefy/stiff pressure plate, so it's just the pressure pushing on it.
Ultimately my setup is this, the clutch only has a few thousand, the other pieces less.
Dakin (Exedy) Master Cylinder
Dakin (Exedy) Slave Cylinder
Spec Stage 3 Six-Puck Clutch Disc
Spec Stage 3 Pressure Plate
Spec Throwout Bearing
Spec Pilot Bushing/Bearing
OEM Nissan S14 Flywheel; Resurfaced
Circuit Sports V2 Short Shifter with Heavy Springs
Solid, Brushed Ball Shift Knob
Redline GL-4 Synthetic Gear Oil
The Clutch Pedal itself isn't super Stiff, but it has a good firm feel. The action itself is fast and brutal though; it really grabs good. Honestly, it's overkill for a street car and had I chosen the clutch kit, I would have gone with a heavy duty standard disc for better street characteristics, but this is definitely stouter.
The noise is just the nature of the beast i believe. Now that its all good and lubed up, etc.. I hardly ever hear it, and when i do, it's in situations of duress. Shifts good and confident, grabs gears hard, and GOES!!
