Hello Guys,

First I just want to apologize in case this has been covered and I just cant find it. :picardfp:

I recently purchased an auto meter water temp gauge and hose adapter to run that gauge, so no issue there... :drama:

The issue I'm running into is hooking up the electric fan, I purchased a Nismo thermostat, Mishimoto radiator and two mishimoto electric fans. I also purchased a Derale Single Stage Fan Controller Premium Series With 3/8" NPT Thread-In Probe to control the fans.

My original plan was to drill and tap the thermostat housing to accept the sending unit, but after going from machine shop to machine shop, they tell me they cannot weld onto the thermostat housing. they need to be able to weld extra material to the housing in order to have enough material to drill and tap.

So that is my issue, where would be a good location to drill and tap in order to run my fans off a completely independent system?

as stated before, I'm already using a hose adapter so I dont want to run another..

does anyone have any ideas?

Or can anyone recommend a preferred way to wire the fans that does not have anything to do with tapping into the A/C fan System?

I guess I should also mention that this is all going into a 95 s14 with a ka24de.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

You can always take the coolant temp switch out and run the aftermarket gauge there. And then run the fan sensor in the hose adapter.

Your gauge cluster temp gauge will not work, but you have an aftermarket one so it doesn't matter

Or vice versa

yea, That is kind of my back up plan, The reason I dont really want to do that is because if there is ever air in the system, I know that the sending unit could read the air hotter than the water really is.

So having a separate sending unit location will ensure a few things, for one, the stock gauge works, two, if the two gauges show different temps, then I know there is air in the system.

But yes, That's a back up!

Screw this into the coolant **DRAIN** plug, then put the sensor in. Mishimoto confirmed this over the phone that it shouldn't be a problem.

Metric Adapter, 1/8 inch NPT Female to M16X1.5 Male

Does anyone know if anyone makes a coolant temp switch to fit directly into the drain plug hole? I Believe the treads in the radiator is m10x1.25.

Do you have a mishi rad?

Just use the adapter fitting I just posted; but to answer your question directly: No.

Yes, I'm still trying to use the Mishi rad, the problem I'm running into is that the adapter you posted is M16x1.5,

When I went to Lowes to double check The drain plug tread, it came in at M10x1.25

So the adapter wont work.

Damn, really? Mishi told me it was M16X1.5; but haven't got around to hooking it up yet and my car's in paint... shit.

Well maybe we have different models? I think I've decided to just get the Misihi fan control system mmfan-cntl-u - it's available with a 1/8 sensor, or a probe to slide in between the fins... If I cant find a 1/8 to m10x1.25 adapter that I can get soon, I think I'm just going to use the probe.
