Starter Exploded!

Figured out why my car wont turn over and it's because the starter literally blew up!!! The gear is fine, but the actual housing of the starter cracked and blew chunks :( I found the blown chunks sitting partially inside the bellhousing, but there is still one lil chunk missing. It could either be on the ground somewhere on the road or actually stuck inside the bellhousing between the flywheel :(

So I'm going to have to get a new starter obviously, but should i take my chances and leave that small chunk in the bellhousing? A few people told me it wont be a problem to the flywheel except that it will make some noise.
:tweak: Or actually drop the tranny and fish for that missing chunk?

jerry i might have a extra starter if u need it.. i suggest dropping the tranny to that ¿chunk? out.. replace the clutch while your at it!

try using a telescoping magnet if it's magnetic

how could it possibly make sense to be "OK" to have a chunk of metal floating around aimlessly in your bellhousing next to a big ass toothed wheel with not a lot of clearance????

thats what i was saying, but a few "reliable" sources told me it would not be bad, just loud noise :tweak:

Drop the tranny and check. Its not that hard to drop a tranny, only takes 2-3 people.
you dont want anything floating around inside the bellhousing
