Hey guys I'm trying to remove my crossmember and the bolts that hold it in will not come out no matter what.. I've eben tried to remove the bolts on the this part to get better leverage and nothing comes out? Does anyone have any ideas on how to take them off? 74992

Did the bolt strip? If not try the heating method if its ur last resort.

Use some PB Buster an impact gun and a torch should be pretty easy. If there stripped they make sockets that cut into them to take them off they sell them at sears.

I always use PB blaster, let it soak for a while, then have a trusty long pipe to add leverage to my 1/2" breaker bar.
If that doesn't work, I will use a torch to heat it up and try again.
If all else fails I cut it off and buy a new bolt.

Try "freeze-off" first before using a torch. I wouldn't want to risk setting the TC's rubber on fire, or weakening it.

That bitch probably isn't coming off, sawzaw and buy new bolts. That's what I did worked good, but make sure to put oil/grease on the bolt when installing the new one because it will rust back to the metal sleeve and you will have the same problem all over again later in the future.

Might take a 1 inch impact and some heat. Don't use a breaker bar unless you want it to ring off. If you are gonna get new stuff, just saws all like bova.

Without an impact gun it can be almost impossible to remove. I gave up once and took it to a local mechanic back when I had no impact gun available.

Why not use a breaker bar? What do you mean by ring it off?

Soak in PB or Rust Off, and then use a breaker bar, if you dont have one get 2 large wrenches and interlock them to get more leverage like so.

If the nut is off the other side and the bolt is not pulling through just thread a nut on it and tap it with a rubber mallet, or a piece of wood and a hammer.

Ring/strip/round the bolt head is what he meant. However of you were going to cut it off with a saws all, it wouldnt matter if rounded the bolt off with a socket and breaker bar.
