so my gf drove her car to work on a rainy day and when she pulled up to work her car was shaking, puffing white smoke (fuel), and has a very low rough idle, it's eating gas like no tomorrow, we ended up diving the car home which was about 10miles and the car guzzled 3/4 of a tank. now I've been trying to diagnose the car so I have replaced all 4 injectors, spark plugs, maf sensor and I just cleaned the fuel pump connector cause it was corroded. the car struggles to start only way to get it to run is by pumping the gas, then once it's started you can let off, no rpm gauge but I figure it running around 3-5 hundred rpms and the engine shakes and tranny shakes making a pretty annoying sound as well, as you give it gas it's just a smoke show, all white and yes it is fuel, smells like fuel and it's spitting fuel out as well. no coolant. also should add the car had a Lake inside the passenger side, ecu could have easily gotten wet, next I will be replacing ecu but I'd like to know if anyone has had this problem or something I need help ASAP if anyone would like a video you can also ask for my number and ill text a video thanks for everything!

Pumping the gas...

Have you tried starting it with the pedal to the floor? (Shutting injectors off)

Also do a quick fix and see what you get, change the coolant temp sensor, if it's bad it's telling the ecu the car is running cold causing an extreme dump of fuel.

Report back with your findings and we can take other steps,

I'm guessing it's not the MAFS if you're able to go above 2500rpms.

Edit**

Try unplugging the coolant temp sensor with the car running and see if it's idle changes.

What does the oil look like? Never heard of white smoke relating to a fuel issue... Usually means you have coolant contaminant in the oil.

I'll give the coolant temp sensor a try!

and the oil was half fuel so it's basically flooding itself, I did an oil change tho clean fresh oil still spitting fuel but im gonna try the sensor

unplugging sensor didn't change anything :(

At idle and a nice and cold motor it didn't change at all?

when I plugged it back in idle got a little higher then back to normal rough idle

That sounds like the problem, just that color smoke is throwing it off.

Yeah replace that coolant temp sensor for sure.

It's totally possible that the ecu still thinks the car is running on a cold start & dumping fuel into the system. if that's your only problem then count your blessings
