View Full Version : putting dual cam head on sinngle cam engine

so i just bought my first s-13 and super pumped but the motor wasnt runnning and i got it for a steal after pulling the engine i noticed a hole in the block where the number one rod decided to lleave the engine. the head is intact wondering if i could only use the rotaing assembly and block from the single cam and put all the dual cam stuff head intake manifold exhaust manifold timing chain stuff like that any advice will help

Nope. It don't work. They're two different engines.
Save yourself the time and hassle and do things right the first time.

Yes is does work , it's a 2.4 ka24dee conversion , all the cool kids are doing it nowadays

they are both reliability oriented engines. If you want power, get another one. You live in V8 country, get an ultra cheap chevvy 4.8L V8 and drop it in, it will be the most reliable 300hp s13 the world has ever seen.

True both blocks are the same and will mate the same when putting together. But there are small differences, the DOHC block has oil squirters to coat the pistons and the SOHC does not but there is more room underneath the SOHC block for oil to slosh around and coat the pistons and rods. All the DOHC engine's from 95' and above are all the same

Your local O'reilly's Auto Parts can sell LS1 conversion kits for s13's.
