So I bought a 93 240 with blown engine as a project car pull out the engine and look around for a replacement. I find some guy on craigslist, said he pulled out his KA because he did a SR swap I trusted him because he had smog papers that it passed smog. The next day I put it on a engine stand start stripping it down to swap over my intake and exhaust manifold since the engine is a 95. I turn the crankshaft to put on tdc. I heard a knock and crankshaft wouldnt turn. I opened up the oil pan.. and the piston was not on the crankshaft the piston cap was bent in half... metal shavings everywhere. So now I have two non working engines.. Should I rebuild one engine out of both? The original one has fried rings and the head is cracked. I was thinking i can rebuild the bottom end and swap over the s14 head onto the s13 block? or should i just go and buy an engine from a shop and part out my engines.. whats the best choice? thanks guys.. im losing interest in it since that guy fuuucked me over.

rebuild the block that has a good crank and bearings.
these motors are more two decades old, who knows what happened in their past lives.

The heads are different between s13 and s14's
Make sure no matter what you do, you have them cleaned to match each other...
Do a little more searching before you smack the two together.

i never buy anything mechanical without driving it, rotating it, touching it, inspecting very closely... hopefully you can recover from this and learn that you cannot, let me repeat myself, CANNOT trust people... if you learn over time that you can trust that individual, then you done right son. best of luck sir. :) by the way, where about in cali are you? I would love to get my hands dirty, if you want, on the weekends or something, no need to pay or anything, I would simply help if anyway I could, being that you were around mylocal area and I can get to you... :)

strip all the usable parts, bolt the bad head and block together and dump that shit in his front lawn.
Dig a little hole first so it harder to remove

this, I can't imagine buying an engine and not at least bringing a breaker bar to cycle it.
