Rule of thumb is you need 1.5x the diameter of the bolt. So if the threaded part of the tie rod is 10mm in diameter, you would need 15mm of the rod threaded into the other end.

OEM Z33 or Tein Z33 inners?

take off your lock washers on your steering rack you dont need them. Use blue threadlock.

is your rack centered?

You should be okay with that much engagement on the inner tie rod, how much thread on the pillow ball end do you have exposed?

also FYI we keep steering rack boots in stock if you want to change your old torn ones out.

The rack is centered. And also they are Moog inner tie rods. They honestly look like they're very good quality. Brndck thanks alot, ill measure it when I get a chance. I already ordered some Z32 inners because they are a little over an inch longer. Oh and btw I lowered the car down and it seems as if the ends are binding for some reason. Here is a picture

My car isnt even that low. I am on 17" rpf1s with a 40 series sidewall and a solid inch for finger gap above the tire.

the angle that your Inner tie rod is sitting is all jacked up, make sure you use all the bump steer correction spacers that'll help shorten the length of it. iirc you should be able to bring the rod down another half an inch.

Just a heads up, PBM makes a dope set of inners. I've been running em for a while with zero issues.

This isn't a joke is it? I swear someone just did this exact thing less than 2 weeks ago...

Yeah fixing your install should fix whatever issues you're having.

screw the heim joint all the way into the outer tie rod. That will give you more threads on the inner. Also ya use all the bumpsteer washers like he posted then you should be good to go.

How did I install it wrong?.. I put the tapered side into the knuckle. How else are you gonna fit the large side into the tapered tie rod hole in the knuckle?

If i screw the heim joint back inside thats going to give me massive toe out.

This exact Pdf was on the paper in the box. Everything checks out except the fact that my tie rods are binding. My car isnt even low. My question is what can I do to prevent this. I know I installed it right

It looks like your need more bump steer spacers.... pretty simple fix.

This doesn't make any sense. That would give him fewer threads where he needs them.

Really?

No you didn't. In your pic you have no bump steer spacers at all.

Those big thick black washers need to be installed. Look at the instructions

you should have the spacer and 2 washers installed per side(3 pieces total) please double check your install, you have WAYYYYY too much thread showing on the bottom.

You look pretty damn low, especially with how extreme the tie rod is angled up.

I concur, reread instructions and add appropriate washers.

The only reason why I didnt put all the washers was because I though it would put more leverage/stress on the shank. I guess ill have to toss on the rest of the washers. Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it

As much as i admit he should not have posted that, considering how you installed that tie rod end, how you did not read (or worse : understand) the instructions, how you prefered to go into binding than to add the spacers, and how low your car is, you really have no right to call anyone a retard, except yourself.

You guys are saying it as if I installed everything completely wrong. Are you blind? All I did was not put enough spacers. Keep exagerating shit. I'm done. Thanks everyone for the advice :)
