Ok so yesterday my car just stop turning on so I removed the starter and got it checked it was not working so I replaced it and now the car is working fine but when hit the rev limiter the rpms go down to aroun 3k even if my foot is all the way down then I can get it back to 6k. do you guys know what could be causing this.??The only things I removed yesterday were the distributor cap ,battery and a few connections to get the distributor out. Thank you any help would be greatly appreciated .

Any error codes? It could also be a faulty fuel regulator or fuel pump.

Won't rev over 3k? Sounds like a bad maf
Have you checked fuel pressure, timing, CAS, compression, or ANYTHING actually?

No I can rev past 6k and bounce off the rev.limiter after like 2 seconds it goes down to 3k even if. Im all the way down on the gas. If the car is moving I can rev to 6k and bounce off the rev limiter if im not moving I cant it just goes down too 3k and the I can go back up.

I agree you are missing something. You might disconnected accidentally somewhere or something upon replacing the starter.
