I'm have a 92 240 DOHC AUTO, and i have a chance to get a SOHC 5 spd front clip, really cheap, like less then 180 usd from a friend. Will the SOHC 5spd tranny parts work for a auto to manual on my DOHC?

from what i know yes, all 240sx, silvias, 180sx use the same tranny internals, the olny difference is the bellhousing... (s15 is the only exception w/ the 6speed)

is the bell housing the thing that covers the flywheel, clutch etc and connects to the engine?

well the belhousing is the par on the tranny that bolts to the engine... the clutch and flywheel are bolted to the block, and yes the bellhousing covers them, its is the biggest part of the tranny

What ever it is... I tell you what happend when I made some combinations;

My 3 speed sr tranny is filled with shavings, so I take the sr bellhousing and mate it to a ka24e tranny. After letting the sealent dry, I go to shift the damn thing and it only goes in 1st and 2nd. It could only go up and down, no matter how hard you tried shift it to the right. So I find out that the tranny is from sohc when I originally thought it was for a de, so with a bit of hope restored that night I go and take a de tranny from work, and repeat the process. With sweat dripping off my nose, I went to shift the motherfucker and to my relife, it went in all gears, smooth as silk. I dont know if that helps any, but its just a personal experience.

Doesn't the auto have a different drive shaft than the manual...can anyone confirm this or did I make that up?
