Hey everyone, my car is a red 1992 S13 that ive had for about 5 years. It is currently reaching the final stages of an RB26 engine swap and car rebuild. I am obsessed with rare and period correct parts from Japan, I believe all these little things add to the car in a huge way (even if theyre items as small as an oil cap for example).

Would have been a great setup but plans basically fell through as i was spending more than i wanted on it all and would rather have put it towards the RB swap i always wanted to do from the beginning

This is basically where things get interesting, sold most of my aftermarket SR parts and worked the rest of the parts into a deal for an RB26

Had a solid plan this time around so it was time to get to work

Pulled the subframe out of an R32 GTR for some more parts

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7421/11181128473_8d9181f320_z.jpg

This was the beginning of my subframe build version 2

Had another S13 subframe powdercoated, swapped my PBM risers over, installed GTR diff with S13 rear cover and made some spacers to solid mount the front portion. Installed the GTR aluminum knuckles, Q45 and Z32 axles, GTR sway bar etc.

Began cutting up the oil pan to convert it to RWD only. The oil pan was a mini project in itself but was kinda fun!
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7375/11638033496_b47dc5da2c_z.jpg

Sooo much cutting, forget how many cut off discs i went through but it was a lot. Heres all the bits that came off
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5485/11657597163_0b78b5701a_z.jpg

My friend Ben was able to get some aluminum round stock plugs for me that fit perfect!
http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2856/12231181065_0e55f43715_z.jpg

Drilled out oil returns to 5mm for better flow

After and before

Tomei baffles installed!
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7345/12231168125_70819f4937_z.jpg

I didnt really want to mess around with turbo elbows, manifolds etc coming loose so i decided i would replace all the hardware and find a good way to keep things tight. So i made a trip to PDM Racing and got these neat lock washers and hardware.

The lock washers are used in pairs (2 per bolt) and have ramps that face each other to prevent the bolt from backing out.

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2005/13119967495_f3ac986a34_z.jpg

While i was assembling things for whatever reason i had to back off one of the nuts, i hadnt even torqued it yet and it was twice as hard to undo. So hopefully these will do the trick

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3760/13120029733_4a0f120918_z.jpg

Engine pretty much assembled!

http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2681/13120044233_0dc0a2b4ac_z.jpg

First test fit in the engine bay. As expected i didnt bash the firewall enough in the starter area as well as the top of the transmission. Couple other small issues with brake lines etc

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3681/13119945455_c6073f175b_z.jpg

The real issues are with the steering shaft and the downpipes (as expected). The front turbo basically comes out dead center to the steering shaft. I have begun work on modifying and oldschool HKS downpipe i picked up. I will post more on this in the next update since ive only just started.

I am very happy with how it sits though, not to high or low, and not to far forward or far back.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7361/13120234934_a1f3239b16_z.jpg

Also my wheels decided to come out for some sun that day! (*^▽^)/

http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3693/13120780853_1b2095dddb_z.jpg

Decided to pick up some new coilovers. Owned my Tein HAs for waaay to long and they were on their way out.

These are TEIN drift master which are high up on the list of dream coilovers for me. They also have the EDFC which allows you to electronically change the dampening for front/rear from inside the car, pretty unnecessary but at the same time kind of cool haha

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7120/13382568253_3876c2c911_z.jpg

More motor pictures as well as my modded HKS downpipe to clear steering shaft

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3799/13590053845_62d004ca82_z.jpg

My superdrifts are now installed all around as well. Still need to fine tune the height etc once the body panels are on. Also ran all the wires for the EDFC. Since im running the GTR rear knuckles i had to swap to the fork style lower mount so i cut the mount of some beat up HKS hipermax i had laying around and got them welded on

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7166/13590106533_2515a208fa_z.jpg

New trans mount!

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7307/13605525635_29612aa87a_z.jpg

Ended up making some solid motor mounts. Many different opinions on these.. hoping with the smoother inline 6 its not too violent. We'll see, may end up changing them.

Theyre basically just 3" round stock cut to 45mm (By Ben Osborne, thank you sir). Then drilled a hole through the center, drilled and tapped a hole for that allen head screw to keep the mount from spinning in the crossmember and put a bolt through it. Was going to tap threads and do studs but this installed on the motor easier because i could just slide them in from the side.

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5208/13961247833_4326b00eef_z.jpg

Made these up as well so i can run my Z32 2+2 cables

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2911/13961241763_24546c46f8_z.jpg

Modded this GTST trans crossmember

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7301/13937940252_73f7d7a8d8_z.jpg

Random cool parts picture!! 〜( ̄▽ ̄〜)

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2928/13938527291_e885f97462_z.jpg

I had these knuckles made by a shop in Japan called Garage Clear. I told them a bunch of specs for my car and they made them accordingly, the sheets say what the specs are. They normally just deal with processing knuckles (you send your knuckles, they modify then send back) but since shipping would suck for me they were able to source the knuckles in Japan for me which was really cool.

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7172/13937983242_ca4b21c189_z.jpg

You may have also noticed they are S14 knuckles, I will be switching to S14 front suspension (mostly for 5 lug hub availability).

They mostly deal with AE86 and have done over 150 pairs of knuckles on them!

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2916/13938555641_205423634c_z.jpg

Got this plate/light box sent over with some parts haha. Maybe throw it on if im running a day permit.. or just wire it and hang it on the wall hahah. These things look super cool in person

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7257/13937964892_217373acd9_z.jpg

Couldnt pass up the opportunity to own this TOMEI cluster. I really enjoy collecting rare part

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7456/13937974942_5f9a3c8c29_z.jpg

TOMEI strut bar as well. Couldnt fit a 3 point with the RB26 covers but this will do!

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7375/13961226793_d111043e71_z.jpg

Got a new clutch slave cylinder as well as a braided clutch line.

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3698/14265393566_5fedca3634_z.jpg

Got my new driveshaft made with RB25 yoke and larger U-joints.

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3722/14101876570_c8c83ba432_z.jpg

Here you can see how much beefier this thing is!

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3832/14285173931_839c9725e0_z.jpg

Made this power steering fluid return line and mounted this reservoir ive had laying around forever

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3810/14288053834_60cfb892b9_z.jpg

I picked up this pipe kit a while back, its from a C35 laurel that had an RB26 swap. Its a combination of HKS and custom piping and seems to fit quite well on the turbo side at least, the intake side may need some modification but i bought it expecting to have to modify it more so im super happy

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2921/14101868528_fe80407fa6_z.jpg

Box also included OEM R33 GT-R computer and a Greddy fuel fuel deliver pipe. Its just for standard 10.5mm injectors, i just find the OEM one to be a bit of a eyesore in the engine bay

Finding a water pump pulley (i was missing mine) locally wasnt happening so i also grabbed the TRUST pulley set for R33/R34. Stoked on these as well even though you dont even really see them in the engine bay

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3713/14288007604_938109eabf_z.jpg

The piping all fit up really well and looks very cool

https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2914/14722051925_69b89d0597_z.jpg

My wiring harness showed up the other day. The harness is super nice and was really easy to install. All the looms are wrapped in braided sleeving, everything tucks under the intake manifold, ignitor chip and injector resistor pack relocated into the cabin next to the ECU etc etc.

Was too excited to take pictures so i dont have any uninstalled photos (▰˘︹˘▰)

Not really too much to update, been working on setting up my front suspension/steering and ran into some problems

Had to order some tie rod extensions, love URAS parts, i couldnt find anyone else who made these (quality ones at least). Their parts always come in cool boxes as well

However due to my wheels being higher offset the tension rod clearance is still what is limiting my steering angle. I may try running larger spacers (currently 15mm) then shortening the lower control arm which will get the wheel further away from the tension rods

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3946/15499655486_4c017d4191_z.jpg

Grabbed this Arai GP-2K helmet which is custom painted with the Keiichi Tsuchiya design (non-chrome)

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5594/15279495586_1b7ef901e9_z.jpg

To solve the front steering angle problem i ended up buying some new wheels, original plan was to just buy another pair of 03s but theyre not super common in the size i need and i need something to use in meantime. Plus i just always wanted a set of these 。゚(TヮT)゚。

Panasport G7 C5C2

https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3950/15597104966_5a3ab235dd_z.jpg

The fronts are 8.5J and will give me more inner clearance than my 9J 03s do even with a large spacer. The rears are 9.5J +28 which is basically as aggressive as i can fit with my current suspension settings

I still plan to either find a pair or 03s that are 8.5j or change the inner barrels on mine (if i can find a reputable place that sells lips) so i can have both full sets

My Panasport C5C2 also arrived, they were in a bit worse shape than they looked in the pictures so i pulled them apart right away to be polished up. They are all back together now with tires mounted. Will get some photos soon

Universal lambo kit retrofit, or is it an s13 specific kit? How's it clear around the fenders?

It was actually a kit for a mustang.. Its from vertical doors USA so its one of the more expensive/quality kits available ($1200 ish). I got it for just 20k yen brand new in box. I was able to save a lot of money this way and since the S13 has weld-on hinges on the doors i knew i wasnt going to get a completely bolt on kit anyways..

Fender clearance is fine, had to cut off the lip off at the back though. Routing the wiring harness off the door has been a bit interesting as well, still working on that

Plumbed in this catch can..
https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8642/15854950671_9fdae1371e_z.jpg

Spent a good part of my day adjusting/aligning my front suspension/steering setup. I had to go back to my old tie rods without the built in spacers, the Kazama ones plus the knuckles were giving me an insane amount of angle and it was on the verge of going over center

To make it work with the Kazamas i would have to go very low offset wheels, move the rack forward (or some sort of offset rack spacer) and probably widebody front fenders (which might end up happening at some point...). Anyways it steers, doesnt hit the tension rod but the angle is meh for now

Pulled my plugs out the other day, cylinders 1,3 and 4 looked a bit lean so i decided to get my injectors cleaned, flow tested and blueprinted

Nothing was super out of check or anything so i dont know if it was needed but good piece of mind either way

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7478/15723301188_9fea3e059c_z.jpg

Took the opportunity to install my oldschool TOMEI fuel rail

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8607/15908810171_7c60e404b7_z.jpg

Going to try and run it with my OEM FPR to keep things simple, i ordered an adapter that should allow me to make that possible so we'll see how it goes

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7569/15723297798_cf297f8942_z.jpg

Heres my adapter that i modified, it was originally to adapt a -6 fitting on to an OEM rail but i flipped it and drilled it out so the OEM FPR could fit in

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7475/16063997288_a36f003a5e_z.jpg

Picked up some HKS 2-way adjustable pillowball mounts. You can adjust camber and castor with these, they are very cool. You can also flip them from left to right depending if you want to really stand up or lay down the castor angle

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7509/16065410059_ebd28d0b0e_z.jpg

Since i have TEIN coilovers i had to drill and tap the HKS top nut

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7520/16251532295_7d0ba6a1b6_z.jpg

Currently have the castor angle decreased a few degrees from stock

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7550/16064002688_546571de16_z.jpg

Installed an ARC pipe that replaces the "twin turbo" pipe. Helps with turbo shuffle/flow and increased low end a bit apparently. Also looks cool

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8600/15629143884_6a68aa0295_z.jpg

I sold my Panasport C5C2 (sizes werent really working for my setup) so i had to get a random picture of all the wheels together before they went to their new home

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7491/16064013248_ce62ba28ec_z.jpg

My old toe arms were very close to the subframe studs and probably would have hit under load so i had to get toe arms with a bend in them.... and new traction rods

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8635/16063620268_9632a7454e_z.jpg

And new upper arms..

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7552/16063620018_7f13dab34d_z.jpg

The Toe and Traction arms are SPL titanium, not very JDM for my car but theyre very nice arms! The Upper arms are Ikeya Formula that were "used on the circuit 3 times" in Japan so they are very mint!

Always wanted a HUD in my car, the OEM nissan one is cool but i would have ran into issues running it with my analog Nismo cluster so i bought a Defi VSD concept unit

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7522/16064009398_5de7a73ce8_z.jpg

Displays all kinds of things if you hook it up to a Defi control unit with other gauges but i will just be using it for RPM and speed

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7565/16064005988_7664b7ec3d_z.jpg

Also you may be wondering what will be replacing the Panasports...

These should be here in ~ 1 week. They are Stich mesh in 17x 8J +5 and 17x9J +11

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7544/15629239714_769b7962cc_z.jpg

Still doing more parts buying... This stuff is all on its way still but im too excited so i have to post it lol

Autoselect brake master cylinder. Will give me better pedal feel and also get my brake lines further away from my engine since it is designed for RHD

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7580/15682106453_60b8069e39.jpg

Bomex aero mirrors. To those who havent seen these on a car they are similar to the RE amemiya mirrors for an FC in the way that they swoop back along the door

R31 GTS-R tappet covers. I really like the "all business" race look these covers have when theyre fitted

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8578/16276047936_4ce0d0df4f_z.jpg

2 of my new wheels showed up (1 front1 rear)

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8658/15710717613_d2d0484d85_z.jpg

The fronts seem to fit pretty nicely, havent test fit the rear yet, will be pretty aggressive... The rear also has a bit of a dent that i will try to pound out, pretty lame

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7512/16144433669_8375e8f750_z.jpg

Started work on my covers, these are going to be my little side project for the next while.

Started removing the coilpack cover mounts and casting marks on the "flange" part of the cover

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7513/16312457796_6f0e15d9e1_z.jpg

Will also be moving the breathers to the back of the covers, possibly do weld on AN fittings as it will be the easiest

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7464/16328848711_b0de1f1c4a_z.jpg

As well as continuing these missing sections of fins (where the crossover pipe on the R31 goes)

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7564/16144428139_6a4b8b7b57_z.jpg

Also TOMEI racing hooks. That is all

Do you just have the two valve cover hoses going to it?

1 hose comes off the right valve cover (which is connected to the breather on the left cover with the oem hoses), then goes to the catch can. 2nd hose goes from the catch can to the intake pipe before the turbo

Autoselect brake master cylinder showed up as well as the brake line kit

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7408/16477883091_9d2b728423_z.jpg

The master cylinder came from a BNR34 so therefore was abs. I assumed when i bought it that it would be like some of the oem nissan BMCs and the third port would be blocked off and possibly need a flare fitting. Turned out the third port just wasnt drilled and i had to drill it out which was slightly terrifying on a ¥76,800 master...

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7382/16478686682_bd8b3f1589_z.jpg

I had to swap to a non-ABS brake booster so the lines wouldnt hit the strut tower. Anything to do with removing the brake booster/brake pedal bracket is my least favourite job to do on these cars lol

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8661/16291918098_048e1384a0_z.jpg

Everything on the brake line kit fit quite nicely, i did run the lines through some thermal sleeve as they are routed across the front crossmember and somewhat close to the downpipe. Also just helps to keep the lines all routed together nicely and protected from other elements (not just heat)

Other 2 wheels decided to show up after sitting in richmond for a week. Mounted some 215/40 RT615s on the 8J fronts and clearance wise everything seems perfect up front

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8603/16293361979_9ac936104d_z.jpg

Slowly making some more progress on the GTS-R covers on the side

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8574/16292271930_ba3cf7ca43_z.jpg

Tomei Racing hooks showed up, super cool having some new in box parts the havent been made for ages. However i dont think im going to be running them, front one would sit way too low (possibly interfer with bumper as well) and rear one doent fit with the aero bumper.

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8574/15857062404_2a4c6a6a8d_z.jpg

They are super cool i think theyre just designed with a stock aero Silvia in mind. However i may incorporate the front one when i design/build a front bumper rebar and have it higher up. We'll see

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7396/16293696097_9cbba8b542_z.jpg

Bought some stupid things last week. This is the kind of thing that keeps pushing back the actual "completion" of this car.. Basically ive been on the fence about getting these for the past 6 months and finally pulled the trigger.

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8665/16582148456_a7637147bd_z.jpg

I tried to re-upholster my factory panels but it was frustrating and i couldnt get it to look nice. Thats basically what convinced me to buy the carbon door panels. They wont be here until mid April- ish unfortunately but i cant wait.

Also picked up a couple of head cushions for my Zeta 1 since mine were missing... exciting stuff :/

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8676/16607494952_fa67abf639_z.jpg

Decided i should bring this thread back since my local forum has basically died and nobody goes on there anymore. Im just copy pasting everything from my local forum so theres a good chance some things might not make sense but this should give the general idea

Bought some turbos to replace mine..

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8587/16630216360_4eab24cd79_z.jpg

Heres the specs on them:

T28 with steel N1 internals and ported turbine housings

Ported exhaust manifolds

R34 N1 o2 housings (larger than R32/R33)

Custom 2 piece downpipe for use in S13/S14

Braided oil and coolant lines

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8632/16817596585_b566aa97d9_z.jpg

As you can see the downpipe uses a v-band clamp so im going to need to modify my test pipe (possibly make a whole new one). Really hope this thing fits better than my current one thats the lowest point on the car by more than an inch

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8747/16631479149_2c8399c087_z.jpg

Some other things ive been working on:

Picked up an AB Flug gated shifter for an R33, ive started modifying my radio trim piece to work with the shifter and will be making it using carbon fiber similar to the original R33 piece that came with the shifter

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8640/16610592541_9cabe251d5_z.jpg

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8591/16424545248_74ae1aefcc_z.jpg

Ive also been working on installing this radiator breather setup but am only part way finished

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7584/16198369783_f16a051b65_z.jpg

This is the tank that will go in the upper radiator hose. However its going to need to be modified quite a bit since the water neck on the engine is quite a bit lower than the neck on the radiator

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8611/16630749628_cda6b9a2ba_z.jpg

i ended up finding a new swirl pot for my upper radiator hose. The old one would have needed to be modified so much that just making a new one would have been easier..

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7644/16932469622_8ea6663ba0_z.jpg

It is from an ARC radiator breather kit for GT-Rs (other one was from an RB20 kit) so fitment should be spot on

ARC in-hose swirl pot installed. Sits pretty high but the hood just barely clears thanks to the raised part of the vent

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7600/17245984961_ea9ee6b326_z.jpg

Carbon doorcards arrived! Very hard to capture how cool these look in person..

https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8765/17244786142_a8224abd5d_z.jpg

Fitment also seems great!

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7727/16624053884_2c51cd1b7a_z.jpg

Im planning to order some 5.25" speaker grills to install on the door panels then making brackets to run 6" speakers behind the panels. I dont know much about car audio so any speaker recommendations are welcome, theyre going to be the only 2 speakers in the car :/

Been working with the Ab flug shifter a bit. This is what the modified radio trim is going to look like. It will be carbon as well to match the doors

https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7595/16887674615_8466b74aa3_z.jpg

Also wont be running the Tommy Kaira shift knob with it anymore... since i picked up an ARC brushed titanium shift knob instead. Wanted one of these as long as i can remember.

Pretty excited it came with the original packaging because im a nerd

So thus began the fun job of pulling the turbos

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5775/19939091753_fc88eca136_z.jpg

I have another pair of turbos that have been rebuilt with steel internals etc. I need to take them somewhere to be balanced and checked over tho, i really dont want to take any chances with having to pull the turbos again because it sucked

On a less depressing note i got an ARC airbox. The M's intakes didnt fit too well in the S13 engine bay and it always looked kinda janky to me

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5767/20533746526_5bc1325a23_z.jpg

The older paper air filters will need replacing, i would actually prefer these over the foam replacements but the paper ones were discontinued in 2000

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5684/19939102183_26b865640a_z.jpg

The craftsmanship on this thing is really cool

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5659/20373274699_de9bb2279f_z.jpg

Theres a vacuum port on my intercooler piping which i will have to weld on somewhere else but other than that fitment shouldnt be a big issue in the S13 engine bay

Sent my other set of turbos (T28s with N1 steel internals and upgraded bearings) to Chris to have them looked over and balanced for peace of mind. They were in good shape / assembled pretty well but he still fixed a couple things on them so it was 100% worth it.

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5734/21965284748_6dc9dd778c_z.jpg

I didnt really take many pictures while installing these because i was mostly just wanting to get it done... So here they are all installed

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5760/21866849500_da6d67b845_z.jpg

Also picked up a SARD oil catch can to run with the R31 covers as well as a few hundred dollars in AN fittings and braided hose. Hoping to weld all that up at a friends place this weekend as well as some other misc welding that needs to be done to fit the ARC airbox

Finally acquired what will be one of the key parts to my car, AB flug flush mount headlights (thanks to John for notifying me when these came up!)

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5622/21965639770_be5f0b82c7_z.jpg

Theyre definitely not in amazing shape but ive been working on cleaning them up. Someone decided to install HIDs with a bunch of silicone and toss part of the H3 bulb socket so ive ordered some other IPF lights which share the same sockets. Installed new springs on the light mounts as the old ones were rusted, repainted housings etc etc. Will also be making new lenses as these are old and cracking

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/756/21668278126_a434f991f1_z.jpg

One problem that came along with the flush mount headlights was that my current twin blitz blow off valve setup will no longer fit. I picked up this ARC pipe / blow off valve setup hoping i would be able to fit it with my piping but im going to have to weld a flange onto one of my existing pipes by the looks of it

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5830/21432185494_3f86fe3e1f_z.jpg

Made some new covers for the AB flug lights as the old ones were quite cracked. Painted black borders on the insides with tamiya TS paint

Installed:

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5781/22632624787_f835f546c4_z.jpg

Finished up the R31 covers finally, plugs welded into the old breather ports and - 12 AN fittings welded on at the back of the covers. Also filled the missing fins (where the RB20 crossover pipe went) in with weld

Heres one of the filled breathers after grinding and sanding

Theyre currently at the powdercoating place.. I'm pretty nervous about the powdercoat turning out the way i want it, ive got a lot of time into these

Finished up all the lines and fittings for the catch can setup. Welded fittings onto the catch can and blocked off the old holes, welded fitting onto my intake pipe..

Waiting on line separators to hold the lines in place (zipties are temporary of course..)

SARD catch can with fittings

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/664/22633092668_022c78bc8c_z.jpg

Ran into a couple problems fitting the ARC airbox. First being that the vacuum port on my intercooler pipe didnt clear the box, which just required blocking off that port and welding a bung on the other side of the pipe. Secondly the intake pipe for the rear turbo came to far forward to line up with the MAF sensor

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/706/22428180904_864541f7c1_z.jpg

After being welded i ground down the welds and re polished it. Not perfect since i had hardly any aluminum polish left but as a whole it came out great

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5818/22659230199_c606bb08d7_z.jpg

Played with some wheel options. I still dont know what wheels i want to run..

Picked up this Abbey Road Company Titanium strut bar, going to require some modification and new mounting plates to fit but i will have the only S13 ARC tower bar when its done, so that will be cool!

Valve covers turned out quite well, taking a bit to get used to but the more i look at them the more i like it! In the process of installing them with new titanium bolts

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5629/23351473691_238be3dd21_z.jpg

Made a trip down to Seattle today to pick this up.. Real deal BN sports inverted hatch

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/727/23184137639_c3a94353b9_z.jpg

I'll have better pictures coming soon but i am way to excited not to post this haha

Finished up the breather lines on the R31 valve covers. Also this is my temporary TOMEI titanium tower bar, its the only one i can find in existence so thats pretty cool but i will still be replacing it with the ARC one once i finish making the end plates

https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5835/23562384231_43f43a7dfb_z.jpg

Here are the plates i cut out for the ARC bar

AB Flug D line steering wheel, I need to get a 10mm spacer to fit this with the horn button and my quick release. Bought it with intentions of maybe having it dyed black but the blue is growing on me, plus it matches my cage so we'll see what happens

Picked up a WorksBell 10mm spacer for the AB flug wheel. Everything bolts together perfect now

https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/649/23440752570_40f8f59c45_z.jpg

New filters from ARC showed up.

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1565/23569199079_937672f6c7_z.jpg

BNR32 uses A type and C type filters. Since i have the older style airbox that uses the discontinued paper filters i also got the new mounting bracket for the larger A type filter. People always install new filters and have problems with them foam ones being sucked into the airbox, the new bracket fixes this because it has an additional lip the holds the filter

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1548/23308855954_d87b9a3b99_z.jpg

They also look awesome in the engine bay, balances out the red of the valve covers a bit. I didnt fully install them in this pic, im going to keep the paper ones on for now so the new ones dont get covered in dust haha

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1444/23854579451_e84f210b22_z.jpg

Will be replacing my exhaust with this Kakimoto Racing GT1.0Z titanium model

80mm diameter piping with a 90mm muffler tip

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1450/24346662175_8c9c86082a_z.jpg

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1630/23719861053_3ab0f617f8_z.jpg

The system is full titanium with hollow hangers, lightweight clamps (rather than flanges) and weighs only 4.4kgs

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1585/24051086270_cd0d1151ff_z.jpg

Included with it is a Kakimoto muffler insert as well as an Apexi silencer. The insert (seen in the first picture) simply slips into the muffler making the exhaust into a "straight pipe." The silencer is Apexi's ATS (Active Tail Silencer) type which acts as a normal silencer while driving but under high load theres a spring loaded valve that opens allowing for more flow.

I found myself a good cooler to use for PS cooler setup tho anyways. Its made by EARL'S from a motorcycle oil cooler kit so its nice and small and uses AN6 fittings

Swapped out my harnesses for a pair or WILLANS 4pt. These ones actually match my interior unlike my old ones and go super well with the blue cage / AB flug wheel

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1659/24634229696_f82b25db87_z.jpg

Also grabbed this a while back since i always wanted one and prices for nismo things just keep going up lately

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1518/25453994572_d545d5caf4_z.jpg

This seat mounts quite a bit differently than my Zeta I does. Still need to spend some time playing around with the adjustment on the rails. Looks awesome though and compliments the Ab Flug steering wheel. I also might just ditch the Willans harnesses now.. I feel like the buckles would just scratch up the leather.. I hardly use them anyways

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1617/25205003929_6627eb4367_z.jpg

I havent had a working horn in my car since i removed the OEM steering wheel and have been pretty lazy about hooking up the horn. Hopefully these Bomex horns will give me some motivation to do that. Im pretty tight on space to mount them, i may just end up installing them under the left side headlight so theyre out of the way

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1502/25205011579_d65b68489f_z.jpg

Got another billion PS tank, this one already has the -6AN fitting welded on. I will be selling the other one if anyone wants

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1644/25454012372_9b53e30617_z.jpg

New KTS coolant overflow tank. The old faded plastic one was looking pretty out of place in the engine bay. For a bit of a more affordable brand KTS makes really nice parts

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1683/24945905043_411152cc66_z.jpg

Basically right after i acquired the BN sports hatch i started making some side window covers. The small rear window with the large rear quarter windows looks pretty weird in my opinion

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1657/24946340193_714a93cc31_z.jpg

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1610/24942533914_eafc44a434_z.jpg

First side turned out great and make the hatch look less out of place on the car. Ive started on the other side and will gelcoat both sides at the same time once its done

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1672/25276967240_65e309e421_z.jpg

Im not sure which wing i will be running on the car but i have been playing around with the idea of this Rocket Dancer wing. It has a cutout for a 3rd brake light and im no into cutting up my hatch so i would probably just fill the cutout on the wing. Still very undecided in the wing department

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1443/25453999962_d2bd22023f_z.jpg

Anyways thats all for now!

This will be on its way shortly

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1563/25635483151_f222ff25d6_z.jpg

IMSA EVA bucket, IMSA were the ones who produced the Abflug seat. So this is probably as close as i'll get to having a matching pair considering the fabric is really the only big difference

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1441/25635657591_64cae34f73_z.jpg

My new EVA IMSA seat arrived. It is in incredible condition!

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7759/26947140606_d71057e4fc_z.jpg
I have bride FG rails already on the drivers side (so my AB flug seat bolted in no problem there) but I had oldschool VG rails on the passenger side which didnt have the right adjustability to fit the IMSA seat properly so i picked up another pair of FG rails for the passenger side

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7473/26375162884_801717c7c5_z.jpg

Started building a new front bumper since the oem one had no chance of fitting (without being hacked up and significantly weaker) with the GT-R style intercooler. I also wanted to take this opportunity to build mounts into the bumper to attach my TOMEI hook

The TOMEI hook is designed to fit onto the OEM tow hook which 1. causes it to be very close to the ground and 2. only really works with the oem Silvia bumper

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7577/26912122481_ea97105ed7_z.jpg

Brackets are made from 1/4" plate and the tube is 1 3/4" DOM. Tube still needs to be bent on the ends and welded on of course

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7513/26706979370_b6c00fbafa_z.jpg

Cutout on the bumper for the hook

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7247/26375164394_ac29c4bd8a_z.jpg

For the record im generally not a huge fan of tow hooks on street cars but i like these ones. They look like the mean buisness unlike the usual cheesy looking ones you always see. Plus theyre oldschool TOMEI so i cant not use them...

https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7111/26980575145_07780b90bc_z.jpg

And lastly i fitted this tomei brake master cylinder stopper. Since these werent made for LHD cars i had to do some modifications. This is actually an R33 stopper

Im not sure i'll run them with the door inserts or not.. I dont want my car to look vip-ish at all but they are different / cool. The Garage Ku-Ma 180sx runs them without the inserts and i quite like the look so we'll see

I spent a lot of time pulling out the dash and cleaning up all the wiring for my gauges. Have most of the interior back in now. Much happier knowing the wiring behind the dash isnt a mess anymore

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4289/35658452742_aa7f969f9b_z.jpg

I also purchased a pretty special widebody S13 silvia (That will be another thread one day) that has some pretty rare parts on it. Theres a few parts I wont be using on that build which I am swapping over to this car.

The coolest parts I'm swapping over though would probably be the TOMEI N2 Pedal kit. The RHD and LHD pedals are different so I made a new gas pedal to fit the TOMEI piece

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4237/34987180344_9110a59d93_z.jpg

For the brake and clutch all I have to do is drill some holes through the OEM LHD pedals

I also decided i wanted to clean up the engine bay a bit by removing the oil filter relocation i currently have. I missed out on a couple of these NISMO RB26 oil blocks in the past but I finally got my hands on one with a TRUST 16 row cooler

And lastly picked up another set of C5Cs.. The set I have now is too aggressive since I'm keeping this car stock body, so I'll be selling them

Thanks and yes those are the original inserts. For both my rear valence and skirts they were just listed as unknown manufacturer parts and not as ikeya formula. So just have to do lots of searching. I came across the bumper for sale once, it was before i had the skirts or valence though so i didnt buy it :(

What if you installed a blacked out plexi glass to the wing and use a small led strip on the trunk to make it light up when braking?

This build is fucking insane, every update you one-up yourself with an even cooler, rarer part or hell parts I've never even known existed.

Props to you man.
More info on the wide body car you got.

Hahah thanks for the comments everyone. I dont really have a lot to update unfortunately.. It mostly just needs small stuff done and paint at this point. My normal painter retired back in September and ive just been sort of putting it off because of that.

However i did run the car again for the first time with the new turbos. The coolant line to the rear turbo leaked which was not too fun to repair but besides that it went smooth.

Got some new tires for the silver panasports

Welded some new fittings on my PS pump and reservoir which finished up my powersteering / cooler system

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4529/39011804122_a24edc5d02_z.jpg

And lastly i purchased some ikeya formula rear lower arms

Thats essentially what im planning on doing now but instead of plexi i trimmed an OEM third brake light. I dont really like the look of LEDs and i dont think theyd suit this car so im going to try having some sort of light diffuser in there as well.

Would be so much easier if i just fit the full OEM light but i dont want to cut up the hatch haha

Look into electroluminescent light strips/panels. Seems like you can pretty much cut them into any size/shape you want and its a full panel back lighting unlike LED's.

Whatever happened to that ARC catch can you had previously installed? Also, one minor thing I believe you may have overlooked (if you care about mundane things as this) is that JDM cars do not have the rear light markers. Personally have this deleted on my own car and makes the car look do much better. Just some food for thought before you paint

insane build with crazy attention for detail. i love how you modded the valve covers and added the fins back in. super small stuff like that probably takes a while, but its totally worth it in the end.

also awesome to see someone collecting hard to find parts and not immediately flipping them.

Thank you everyone for all the kind replies! I have been busy with other projects and sort of pushed this to the side (which is dumb) for the last year or 2. I do have a couple small things to update though

I went back to stock S14 knuckles in the front, im not going to be drifting this car (not very much at least) so figured they were unnecessary. Also changed to ikeya formula tie rods at this point

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1926/45336698145_dda2948d15_z.jpg

I have wanted to have a fiberglass or carbon sunroof for quite a while but still wanted to be able to open and close the sunroof. All the ones i could find for sale were a full sunroof delete kit.

So i took a mold from the original sunroof glass

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4845/45336443885_105403b770_z.jpg

Decided to make my first one from FRP, i think it will look better paint matched rather than carbon and the weight savings isnt a big deal to me for this car

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4809/45336439145_30caf39996_z.jpg

I also got this cool coolant overflow, ive been trying to get one of these for a while. I bid on one on yahoo once but it went for too way much and it just made me want one more haha

https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4839/32377179598_36800222bb_z.jpg

They are all brass and made by Koyo for MCR factory cars. Probably why this one was painted purple. The paint was in rough shape though and i really like the brass so i polished it

https://c2.staticflickr.com/2/1915/44432294590_aebd2193e4_z.jpg

Im not sure if Koyo made a non-MCR factory version or if the MCR etching on this one was sanded off when it was prepped for paint but here is what they look like with the etching

Lastly, opinions which skirts should i paint? Border racing or ikeya formula. Im really back and forth on this haha

This is the only other photo i have from when i did it. I actually purchased the AFR meter as a kit from wide-band.com and the display didnt come in any housing or anything so it was easy to fit into the cluster. Just removed the old clock and some dremel work on the cluster. I dont see the exact kit on their site anymore..

First set of side skirts get my vote, but up to you and either way it's going to look sweet!

That MCR Factory overflow is money. I've only seen one other one.

The rear valence has a line that kicks up which matches the line that kicks up on the Ikeyas.. so that'd be my vote.
