So long story short this car was bought in 1993 and garage kept one owner car has 45,651 miles so that was the plus! the car it self looks clean and pristine but the motor isn't wanting to stay running it idles for maybe a min then cuts off I am also getting a lot of fuel vapor smell. I've put lucas injector cleaner in it and looked over everything it looked fine no leaks I could see.

My next problem is 1 ding in the roof looks like someone shot it with a bb gun so I was thinking just to cut the top off like I have seen some people do too these cars I am not a master mechanic and never owned a turd40 before but I have tools so I am just wondering if cutting the top is worth it.

Check the fuel lines, these cars are old and the fuel lines are prbly very worn out.

Their are a lot of things that can cause that to happen but here's a start efore you go out spending a ton of money on parts Check fuel lines, vacuum leaks, maf, fuel pressure, coolant temp sensor, and check for any codes on the ecu.

well I was thinking about cutting it cause I've always wanted a vert anyway. And ok thank you I checked fuel lines and found 2 that had been spraying fuel under the tank and it would explain why it was getting 16 mpg. but the car still isnt staying running I did change the distributor cause my buddy at a shop said that it sounds like it could be that or plugs.. still no change all I can think is maybe the maf O'riely's guy said it sounds like the ecu is fried but he tried to sell me seafoam to fix it smh....

oh and I checked codes came up 55 from what i can tell means no codes

Bro, here is the best scenario...take your car to a mechanic and have them fix it.

Seems like you don't know much about cars and that will lead you no where, just going in circles.

How about trade it for a vert? Or sell it and buy a vert. Instead of destroying a potentially pretty clean car .

So I got bored and started cutting but im stuck cause now that the hatch is gone it looks like the vert soft top wont fit what do you need to make this conversion work and is there a kit?
