Well i created this account a few years ago probably looking for random s13 info, but i figure id go ahead and make a little build thread since my car is now finished. I bought the car something like a year and a half ago for $250 and a gocart, had a dual cam Ka and a bad head gasket. The motor finally grenaded after 5 events, and after dailying a foxbody for 4 years the 302 felt natural to me. When i was building my car, finding help and info with the swap seemed almost impossible, so i guess im now a reliable source of info for anyone who wants to do the same.
Heres a list of specs to get started:

The car spent about a month or two in my buddy's garage, where we got it to run, although it was like two teeth off on timing and sounded like a tractor. but i loved it unconditionally, having a drift car was a dream of mine for years.

After nothing but teardown, painting things and buying a few new parts where i needed them for a few weeks we started to put it back together. It was finally starting to look like my own little drift car.

I decided to paint the interior white and wrap the dash with some zebra bath towels from walmart, as well as some shaggy floor mats, also from walmart. This was around the time when the whole "Because driftcar" thing was huge, so we made some interesting decisions following that motto.

The paint really wasnt that terrible, but there was a big spot of bondo in the driver side quarterpanel, the clearcoat was coming off and the rear bumper was nasty. So the car was to be painted white, courtesy of 99 cent cans of gloss white, thanks again walmart! Youll have to excuse the nudity ive got going on here, but you can see the spot of bondo i knocked out.

I tend to pretty much stay shirtless in the summer, it gets hot and humid here in NC, deal with it.

At this point, the car was running, it looked good enough for me, and it was ready to be beaten on for the first time in who knows how many years. I ran my first drift event on November 3rd, 2012, stock Ka, stock suspension. It went so smoothly, and i could not have been happier.

I actually had a few people tell me i killed it that day, i can't describe how awesome that felt. With this first event under my belt, the addiction began. My girlfriend said she could hardly watch me drifting the thing on stock suspension though because she swore i'd roll it over at any time. On my birthday i was presented with these bad boys, if that doesnt have Keeper written all over it i don't know what does.;)

I made up a gauge panel out of some sheet metal from lowes, got a tomei shift knob and a greddy rear strut tower bar. and with that i had officially made my first few mods and my step away from the stockest of stock 240's began.
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5527/14469913269_76ed538650_b.jpg
The car stayed this way for a few months, and i ran five events with that motor. I was only in less than $500 total on the car so far, so i was really really happy with what i had. I had my car and my drifting dreams were coming true.

My friend let me borrow some 13 inch wheels as you can see here^, which made for a really fun combo with the stock Ka power, or lack thereof.

And with this last picture, the Ka chapter comes to a close. I was heading into one of my first few tandem runs with my friend who's garage i built the car in, the car had ran great all day. we came to the initiation and right as i grabbed the e-brake and clutch kicked out of it, the car died completely. i started it back up to hear the infamous bag of marbles sound coming from my engine bay. Once i heard it increase with rpm i knew it could be nothing but rodknock. This was a sad day, but breaking things always results in bigger and better things, you know, like a v8:boink:. If you have made it this far, let me know what you think. This is my first forum thread probably ever, so i think ill submit the thread here incase my computer crashes or something. Next comes the actual 302 chapter, stay tuned : )
