View Full Version : q45T for $1900 ???
Hey whats up everyone, so something came up yesterday.
My co-worker mentioned to me that she is selling her Q45 (y33 bodystyle) for 2500 but would sell it to me for 1900.
I rode in the car for a bit and it just seemed so smooth!
I currently have a Z32 ive been working on, which is completely bone stock.
Im contemplating selling my Z32 and pick up the Y33 ( even though its an automatic ) I have read before that the y33 has alot of interchangable parts with most S-chassis and others as in coilovers and what not.
the y33 has about 140k and has been owned by the family when they first bought it when it came out for 45k
the z32 isnt perfect, running aroung 170k its a 1990, bought it for $1500
having a misfire caused by a fuel injector.
So thinking of cutting my loses and picking up the y33.
From everyone experience what do you think of this scenario?

There is not many parts you can swap from an S chassis. Definitely not coilovers. I wish. I would have done that to my Y33.
They are great but an extreme pain to work on even for simple stuff. I have worked on both a 300zx and a Y33 (because I owned one) and I would prefer the Z32 over the Y33 to work on.
My Y33 was a daily but also a drift car (first of this model) and was fun but due to shitty city laws and a bunch of other bs from them, they had me crush the car because fuck logic.
$1900 isnt too bad for the car. I have seen them go for cheaper and more as well so its really personal preference.
What can be swapped onto a 240 or vise versa? Brakes.... errr... radiator... I think tension rods and RLCA. Think thats about it. There are not any parts you can swap over without doing major modifications.

Firstly, the Q45 absolutely can NOT swap suspension with an S chassis. the Differential can swap out of an S14 for a higher rear end gearing.. other than that there is very little that will swap over.. being a previous Q45 owner, id strongly recommend steering clear of the Y33.. the gas mileage is terrible, and the vh41de feels very under powered.
Great info! In the long run I don't think I'd mod to much with the car, I really just need a daily. From your experience how was reliability? I figure if I have a reliable daily then I can have a side project to work on. Having your project as a daily tends to be harder. With the Z I wanted to keep it as is and drive it for a year and go from there. The Fuel mileage will suck but it comes down to what car will last longer a 25 year old 170k jalopy z32 or a 15 year old 140k plain infiniti. Its also a the q45t model guess its the touring model

up to 1999 the Q45T is bullshit, in 2000+ they got adjustable suspension, adjustable HID headlights, a much more attractive interior style... everything got better in 2000+ for the touring model.
as far as reliability goes, mine had a knock sensor code after 2 years of no tune up, no fuel filter change, no nothing.. start up, drive, change oil every 4k, and add gas every other day... it is very very reliable, if you can handle the cost of fuel

They had you crush your car because you got caught doing something illegal and stupid.

Yes you can swap suspension. You can run S14 knuckles and front suspension and after that can run S14 coilovers. The rear multilink arms are the same as any other RWD Nissan of the same vintage. All the brake upgrade options for the S13/S14/Z32 also apply. There are a LOT of things that can be swapped between multiple models of Nissan's.
Thanks racepar1, it helps figuring what I should do. I feel like the amount of gas I would spend would equal to what the z32 wear and tear cost especially on a first gen z32
