Hey Y'all,
Still trying to fix my pos sr and I'm running out of solutions.
I'll keep it a simple question.
Can a bad CAS still run the car decently but when you plug the maf in it acts as a bad maf?
I can rev the car up and it starts pretty well with he maf unplugged, however when I plug it in it dies. I can play with he tb and get it to run. But its super rich and has a delayed throttle response and eventually dies. Changed ecu and still runs the same also double and triple checked all the wiring. Changed the maf out and still has the same effect. Matter of fact I tried three mafs. All the same results. I need this car running!
Any ideas?
Its a type x blacktop mostly all stock
ThanksThanks!
Christian S.

Are you running a J4 or J5 ecu? Who did the harness? Is it a new swap or was it running before? Which maf are you running?

hey im having a similar issue, that is related with my cas. today my car did not want to start, it cranks and sounds like it wants to start but it just doesnt go. so i decide to unplug the camshaft positioning sensor (cas) and see if that could possibly be the issue, mind you i still had the key in the ignition and all electrical power was still present. i unplug the cas cable and it makes a strange sound when i unplug it it comes from within the sensor or atleast thats how it sounded to me. i plug it back in, i go inside to the car to give it a go and all of the cars electrical system just shuts off. no electricity what so ever thoughout the whole car, i checked the main 100a fuse, thats located near the battery and it looks ok.. could someone please help me out here, i have no idea what the hell is going on.

I am running a J4 ecu. And the car does run fine. Just not when I plug in my maf. Took the car to the shop tonight . will be there early in the morning to try to figure it out.
Cyberzen. Do you realize that your car receives its firing order to the coilpacks from the cas. Why would you think to unplug it. Also start a new thread for yourself. This thread is concerning my issue not your. I will pm you if I fix my issue to inform you. But please do not thread jack my very important topic.

The problem could be with the MAF wiring. If the engine runs at all, the CAS is fine. When you unplug the MAF, the ECU runs in limp mode, which uses RPM and throttle position to determine fueling, however it also sets a 2400rpm rev limit.

Id try swapping in another cas if you think yours is bad they are pretty cheap on the forum. Make sure you line up the dots on the cas right and set your timing.

make sure you have the timing set properly and the grounds on the ignition harness well grounded.

It does sound maf related not CAS, so put that idea on ice for now. Have you done a solid boost leak test to at least 10psi? Really does sound like bad vacuum leak or MAF sensor issues.
Get some codes off the ecu or wire your consult port in and hook it up to a laptop
