Hey from my last post i posted concerning the Supercharger project that Unstable Hybrid is working on. I have discovered that many peeps in this forum r very interested in the project including myself. I'm starting this topic in order to show our support for this project and maybe give Unstable Hybrids a hint of all who r interested. They even say on their website that they do not even think that there is a big market out there for this SC .... welll i would like to prove them wrong :-) and this forum has alot of pull with the aftermarket manufactureres im starting to find out. Neway, if this topic does well then we can email it to them to show the support behing the SC project or u can just email them urselves personally. THANKS

I am and have been very interested in the one for the dohc! I've been trying to contact them back then, but the email addresses listed would not work. Good luck getting in touch with them

Does anyone know where they are located??? I think i have heard Atlanta b4 or somewhere in Georgia. Neway if so i live pretty close to them then and if i can't email them then i will go visit them. LOL just thought ... this might start a new breed of 240s... Supercharged VS. Turbo charged.

You live in Atlanta? I'm trying to get into Georgia Tech for next fall. Anyways, Unstable-Hybrids is in Atlanta, and if I was there, I'd visit them with a lot of questions! Also, I would insist on using my car as their project!

LOL FOR REAL!! but no i live in Alabama but Atlanta isn't that far away. They already have a project car for the SOHC but im sure they will need somebody's for the DOHC also nebody that lives around or close to Atlanta and would submit their car for the project post on here too.

I intend to make my 240 a 180SX type X "replica", so the CA engine is in my future...but I think it would be interesting to see some SC'd 240s around.

Well, if anybody can get ahold of them, give them the link to this thread, I am going to be saving up next summer to get either a supercharger or turbo kit, and if their numbers come out as they expect I'm all over that SC :-)

Yeah, I rather go a route that not many or noone has gone. That's why at first I want to go NA all out, but if there's an SC available, then I'll take that route.

At this point, I don't have any choice but to go with the cheapest option for my car (except nitrous, no reason to have it if I can't use it) I'm not sure how much the supercharger will cost, but i've heard they're a bit cheaper than a turbo kit, so I'm all for it.

I would like to see that Supercharger kit come out myself, definitely would like to install one to see how the install is compared to a bolt on turbo kit.
I wonder how the HP differences will match up, I know that there has always been a big debate on which one is better and neither seems to win, the turbo in my opinion has a slight upper hand because you can scramble the boost from in the cockpit via a boost controller rather than having to change a pulley but even I would be VERY interested in taking a supercharged 240 out for a spin at the track!
ooooh yes, sounds good... how much should it cost? anyone have any idea? i'm more partial to turbo myself, but if sc was a grand cheaper.. i'd def consider it
Gentleman,
I see there really is some interest in this thing after all, I appreciate the messages and the encouragement. We're working to get the SOHC done this winter, and then depending on how it goes the DOHC will follow. From all indications, at least with the roots sc we have, the SOHC will lend itself better to the application.
Current plan is this.
Custom Intake plentum to be built, with a air to water aftercooler being used for the cooling, and the roots SC on top where the current ECCS is located. Now this offers a few challenges, one the Throttlebody will now be pointed towards the fire wall, so the plumbing might be a bit strange, so we might relocate the battery to the trunk and the MAF to the passengers side. We will be working with JWT to get the ECU set for 50lb and Cobra MAF.
We're still researching the DOHC project and looking for a local car to do the work on...will probably be one of our own.
thanks for the interest guys.
joel
Cool, I look foward to seeing how this will turn out. If the price is right and it works well, I will definately consider this as an alternative to a turbo or engine swap (which would also be a turbo). Do you have a preliminary price sheet or anything of that nature for us to look at?

kewl a response lolol i feel powerful ......... THANKS UHjburke
No powerful is the RB26DETT powered S-13 I'm building, and my fiances RB20DET powered 92 convertible........
Pricing, is really dependent on what people can get these SC's for. This one is off a grand prix, 62cu eaton. Now by all means if someone has access to a properly sized paxton, or other Centrifical, we'd be intereted in mocking up a kit using their blower, and basically discounting the labor to get the kit and research done. Pricing will be in the $2500 to $3000 range we hope...but we'll see.......
We do intend on doing a DOHC, however we don't have the SC for it yet, if someone was to pick one up, and offer their setup for testing, or let us test it on another, we'd be willing to cut a deal. The good thing about us doing the SOHC on our buddies car is he wants us to find the limit, his motor is about 90K stock internalled, we have been told to "blow it up" so we'll see what we can get.......

Thats cool, Its good to know where the general limit is on the engine. That test should keep many people from blowing theirs up. Good Luck with the project, we are all eager to see what happens.

UHjburke let us help??? I mean if u tell us the size and specs of the SC that u need for the DOHC, paxton or Centrifugal im sure that we have enough internet junkies on here that can find whatever the #### u could possibly want. And im sure that goes for ne other parts u could need that u think we might could find. LOL i know i personally love scowering the internet and searching for parts and stuff and i know other peeps in here do too. THANKS
