View Full Version : my 89 skyline GTST

This is my 1989 skyline R32 GTST. I'm importing an R32 GTS-T with the help of Rivsu Imports in Sanford Florida. The Owner is Steve McCarthy (Vandrel) I met late last year. He talked about all the different things he had been through with his skylines and his current R31, took me for a ride in it, and talked about what it would cost to import one for me. My husband looked me and said he "isn't saying no, he is saying I'm not allowed to park it on the drive way" and either the 240 or the skyline was fine, but there wasn't room for 2 in the garage and I had to choose. I went back and forth as to sell/not sell and once I was sold on selling it 8 days later someone from south Florida bought it. Drive from Ft. Lauderdale 5 hours up in the middle of the night to pick it up on a friday evening.
So Now here Am with the skyline paid for waiting..... The first time I met steve he had a set of R33 GTS-T seats and matching floor mats he sold me for cheap, so I have those waiting in my parts room to be installed if I don't care for the seats it currently has.
As for the pictures, I'm waiting on more, but will share the few I have so far. I have been playing eye spy with the husband and tabulating a shopping list for Koni at GTR-Garage to get me for later on :).

the dash plastics are being fixed before shipment, may end up with a GTR front end on it. Car looks like the Previous owner removed a bunch of parts from their "race car" and sold it as is.
off the top of my head I see
Cage (cusco based on how it runs under the dash)
Strut bar (cusco)
steering wheel (Nardi)
Boost Gauge (blitz)
Intake (M's intake)
BOV (blitz dual drive)
Radio (who cares what brand)
wheels (been a real debate as to what brand/style they are, but 3 piece from the look)
Exhaust (guys thought it might be Greddy, but idk)
Gauges (idk what they are but they are to the left of the steering wheel and look to be small, less that is factory)
it, and dig in deeper.

SSR (Tanabe) Varden Sport VS (please correct me If I'm off a bit on the name) 17x8 +38 and 17x9 +38. 4 and 5 lug 114.3, so these should be a direct bolt on. May add a little spacer to them to get them another 10mm closer to the fender, and finish them off with a 275 or so rear tire and 245s in the front. I fell for them immediately and contacted GTR Garage and told them what I wanted to spend, and not to exceed. Won them and was actually surprised how cheap they went for ($73 USD+fees).

I have owned several sets of coils before, always new. When adjusting them after "new" they have all showed signs of wear and filled with sand. Not just on my cars, but on everyone else's car I have helped..... These arrived looking NEW, not a drop of dirt on them. Idk what they to make them this clean and fresh, but other than a single scuff on the one controller I would have assumed they were new.

regardless of how clean they were, I still let them have a good PB blast soaking, and after a couple hours of letting it just soak and work its way in, I wiped them clean. Can not wait to get these installed.
mail man came at aboutt 2:00pm today, "O thank goodness you are home, this box isn't as bad as the last one".... LOL. Thanked him for all his help, and will be giving him a gift soon enough, have to figure out what to get him. W/o the help of this 60 year old little man I would be still waiting. He had another "lighter" package with him....

Going to be ordering a stencil to have the blitz logo on the front mount. really like the way it looks when it is done that way. So now here I am, waiting for my car.

I paid $8500 shipped, titled, tagged, and fed legal. They are going for a little more now as of the 1st of January everyone and their mother realized they could be obtained. Though still seeing them going for pretty reasonable prices IMO (compared to what a SR hatch goes for with a hacked up harness and unknown miles).

You have one hell of a good husband from what I'm reading, that $8,500 price tag with all that you mentioned actually seems really good especially with some goodies that it has. yeah he is alright. both of us are gear heads, he is big mazda guy, but talked me into my first 240 after I killed my mustang back in HS. been a Nissan girl ever since.
The $8500 does not include the $1500 I paid for the car to be repainted. The $1500 covered everything being repainted expect the engine bay which is far cheaper than anything not Maaco I could find locally when I wanted to paint my last S13. the last S13 I had was closer to 4k just to paint match the OE color, so I had to jump at it. was the only thing I couldn't handle doing myself here comfortably. Everything else I can handle doing on my own. As the car arrives and I get to dig into it more I'm sure I will find little things that need repairs, but that is no problem for me. I much prefer to replace it on my own anyway.
I have a feeling Ikeya shopping is in my future....

I'm sure there is more, just only so much I can dig into well it is sitting in a container. Will do a Turbo back exhaust if there isn't already a test pipe and DP.
Going to take it slow, and make sure everything is straight. going to take it to a couple of auto X events to really get my bearing for driving on the right hand side. Don't need to be opening it up to WOT on public roads Till I'm 100% dialed in.

Wait, you got those wheels for $73? How much were the fees? (You can PM me if you want) Apparently I need to get on YAJ more...
correct. $73. GTR garage standard fees are $550. for shipping and placing the bid. Got them a little cheaper with combining it with other things, and had their been a container coming at the time I won them I probably could have saved even more, but yes.
All center caps intact and the Varden Sport valve stem caps. They definitely needed a little wet sanding, but all said and done even with sanding material, I still haven't spent what a set of XXR's cost. It has been really eye openning what opportunties there are with Yahoo auctions.
Case in point, the ARC sway bars I won for $48 bucks. I used From Japan on those, and all told spend less than 180 bucks for the whole setup.
The Greddy coils, The listing ended at $513 (or there abouts), and then GTR garages handling fees. Was going to go with a custom BC racing setup as they are local, but I just couldn't pass up the deal. Seems I made out even better than I thought as they arrived looking Brand new.

I don't want to say how great a deal GTR garage offers on things that are brand new from vendors as well, but lets just say I saved several hundred dollars going to GTRgarage for the Blitz SE over anything I could source stateside.

Thank you, not only is it "cheaper" to source the parts and wait for them to ship state side (I couldn't source a knock of FMIC for the price I got the blitz for), but it would be a crime IMO to go cheap on it. I didn't do it with my S13's, my G35, or any of my other cars so I don't intend to start now. It definitely makes the build go slower than slapping on a ton of Megan parts, but I value the R&D and care put into making the parts. It makes me feel a little safer behind the wheel.
As for the GTST vs GTR. Sourcing a GTR would have been double for one in decent shape (16-22k easy) and to find an early one was difficult. I personally don't care for AWD or 4wd, I have had them all, and personally a proper RWD coupe is truly my favorite. Later on the down the road if I get bored or want to go bigger an RB25/26 is a cake walk swap so I'm not too worried about it. I have plenty of experience doing much more difficult swaps. That said, 9 months is long enough of a wait. early GTR's still have a couple of months to wait before they are legal, and I for one can't handle it anymore. My friends are having kids, I can relate to the hurry up and wait feeling.... It is driving me insane. Spent the last 3 days over at Steve's seeing his 30s, 31s, and Nismo sure haven't helped.
Are you going to put a SR in it?
Of course. That is what people int he US do with everything right? I mean who wouldn't want to drop two cylinders and go to an aluminum block....:bowrofl:.
Think she said she was going KA-T.
lol, If any going do to a 4 cylinder I would probably opt for an FJ. I have had a CA before and Have no desire to own an SR, but if the engine is changing (and I don't for see that in the near future) it will go up to a bigger RB....

Going SR would cost 3-5k maybe. Why spend that money when the rb20 has roughly the same output stock and she'd be right back at square one. It would make more sense to run the rb20, pick up a 25 or 26 to build on the side, then down the road do the swap when the 20 goes out. For me I'd just be happy as shit to drive a skyline no mater whats under the hood.

I know that some people do it. I could see if it came with a NA RB (really excited to see that GTE as I have never seen a single cam RB before in person) or CA18E, but I really love the iron blocks which is why I went CA back in 2006 when everyone else was doing SR's. Like I said, It might go RB25 later on down the road, there are plenty of them locally to source when and if I ever want it. Really want to get it 100% solid and safe before I even worry about making 100HP... I have these visions of what 25 years of Living in Japan has done to the under body, bushings, suspension, ect and want that all sorted before I even consider trying to make a bunch of power. I know there is a slight paranoia with all the checking and verifying Steve's guys have done over seas, but until I have had my hands on it, it hasn't been checked enough.

$1,500 is an amazing price for paint work in Japan! Great color choice as well. Your car is going to look great when it's done.

I have these visions of what 25 years of Living in Japan has done to the under body, bushings, suspension, ect and want that all sorted
You can use 90% of the S13 Energy Suspension "master kit" (It does everything with the exception of the front suspension.) Get yourself some adjustable front upper control arms and you are set.
If you want, Swap in an S13 subframe to completely delete the hicas system at the same time ;)
Glad to see an R32 build on here. I might start one once I have made more progress.

Thank you for mentioning that. Reminded me that I have almost the entire rear end of my master bushing kit sitting in my parts room. Would need new subframe inserts, but that isn't bad. Think I want to keep the hicas for the time being.
Glad see all these skyline owners.

Just about 2 weeks till this arrives. counting the days. Got some more parts on their way, will share as they make their way here. hopefully we can get it asap after it arrives at the port post inspections. There is the month nissan meet on the 16th, and several of the local skyline owners are going. as of now I have the Thurs and friday of that weekend off so we have a couple of days to get the car all put together before the meet. Driving it w/o the coilovers on wouldn't be the worst thing ever, but there is no chance I'm waiting to install them.
I spent some of the day working on insurance, the geico rep I spoke to today said they weren't able to cover the vehicle.... will be spending the rest of the weekend getting that sorted.

Lol, Thanks.
So I'm going to be spending the weekend shopping for car insurance. after bickering with another rep who was convinced I purchased the car as a "race car" I asked for a supervisor. The supervisor said Geico's Policy is to view Skyline's as "Super cars" and the only thing they were willing to do was liability. I laughed a little and in a weird way kind of made me feel good, but still annoying as shit. Looks like some of the classic car insurers are better about it and will just let me do a stated value and not really worry about it being a "super car" or not.
I didn't even think insurance covered the car if you "race it". So it being a "race car" is really none of their business, but o well. Once we sort out who to use, I may move the other 3 cars as well if it makes sense. Least my husband's mazda with all its mods should probably really be under that kind of insurance.... even if he only puts 1000 or less miles a year on it....

No problem, I have some good leads from Will and a couple of the guys who have imported cars before or have state titled cars.

this isn't a 240sx, and even if it was I would have full coverage. The car isn't being built with ebay parts and protecting my investment in case shiz happens is money well spent. Based on what I have found for "classic car" or "custom car" I should be able to get into the 4-600/year for full coverage with mileage regulation, which matter not to me anyways as I own several cars.
I maybe pissing money away as I never once used my insurance on my 240's, but heaven forbid someone try something stupid and I'm not there to blast them.... Even if it gets to the 100 or so per month, it is worth the piece of mind with all I have invested in it already.

Never had full coverage on any of my 240sx's. Instead, I like to keep a chunk of change saved up in the event something does happen. Plus, I keep a dash cam recording all my drives in case someone wants to do something stupid and try to put fault on me.

I can't believe you park your 2 tone at the mall.... everytime I see it:boink:
Just got a quote from my first "classic car" insurance. $305 for the year (15k stated value). 2500mile max and it has to be my "3rd car". We have 4 so it isn't even close to a big deal.
going to call a few more other places, but that guy knew exactly what I had and was great to deal with. Pretty sure that is where I'm going to end up, them understanding the importation process and all that really had me set my mind at ease. They also insure my friend will's cedric.

They were offering 30/month liability only. I can do 305/year for full coverage and 15k stated value. I was doing some reading today, seems geico has a habit of dumping policy holders if they using them in any form of motorsports, which is also encouraging me to dump them entirely. Have heard USAA is good, progressive is good, and statefarm is good, but haven't made a call to any of them yet.
Going to call a couple of the classic car companies as well. I will keep people posted what happens with each as there are about a dozen guys who are waiting on cars who are about to have the same mine field to cross.

RHD is not their issue.... "super car" is.... lol. Like it a freaking lambo.
Curious what issues came up. There are plenty of "state titled" cars in this state. Don't see those of us who did it the 100% legal way screwing it up.

Here it was a lot of people (read younger) who were importing junk cars, and using classic car insurance. Couldn't really handle the power, and ended up writing off cars left, right, and centre. Then they all had their hands out looking for insurance cheques, and importing more junk.
They wised up, and changed the rules so that RHD cars had to be 25 year old, for you to be able to use their insurance. They were the best, cheapest option for any REAL enthusiast.
Then a lot of other larger insurance companies who were taking new policies started to write no new RHD policies into the under writing, because of the payouts vs. money coming in for actual insurance. The "risk" involved was not worth it to them.
Now everything is rather hush hush and I wouldn't tell my sister who I'm insured under, for fear of getting the policy thrown out from the influx of people trying to get it.
It's crazy up here (in my province). I honestly don't know if it's going to be worth it for me to buy a BNR34 in a few years... That's how crappy the process was for me with my S15.

State side you have to be 25+ to get any classic insurer to cover you. It has been that way since I was a kiddie as far as I know. We have several classic cars, my family doesn't really get the nissan thing as most of them are chevy guys.
My deepest fear is the idiots ruin it. Both the guys who want to skirt importation regulations and those who decide to be idiots once they get a hold of the cars. Well I do like the idea of seeing more and more cars here as that only encourages importation of parts, but also stocking of replacement parts, but seeing some of the tool bags who already are following the different importers makes me hope that McD's doesn't start paying $15/hour.

:) yes the F&F stuff probably doesn't help. Intial D probably didn't help either.
We are riddled with questionably legal cars. I could easily have bought a "state title" one and had it here today, but the 9 months, the cheaper price, and no feds knocking on my door asking about vin numbers were a decent selling point as well. these last couple of weeks are going to be brutal, but just got to keep my eye on the prize. Order more parts earlier in the week and even this morning, so waiting is what I'm doing...

docking dates set. hope to have the car in my possession the 2nd week of august. There is a meet on the 16th and I'm hoping to have it there. If all goes to plan I have the 14th and 15th off to work on it before the 16th so I can take it out that evening, but will depend on how long the port authorities take to inspect it and "show who important" they are.
Lucky my boss has been very understanding of the whole waiting thing, even if she doesn't get what I want the car for, and has been willing to relocate my days off so I can spend a few days with the cars soon as I can.

Where is this meet? As before mentioned I'm local to your area (sanford) Don't go to many shows anymore because it's like hanging out at lunch during hichschool. But my girlfriend loves the whole car show thing so I'm trying to go more often. That has been my husband's opinion since the day we bought the car. I truly hope that is correct, The video and most of the photos once you zoom in a bit lack a lot of definition on the wheels so I have never been 100%. Spending days worth of time on YAJ and seeing all the different stuff Panamax and others sell that are also close doesn't help either. Starts to question. O well, in just a few short days I will be able to take them off and inspect everything I want to.

So the topic of importing a vehicle should be placed in the build section? Also, these parts she has, wouldn't really make it a build either.

I'm actually surprised it took 3 pages for someone to say anything. The car could have been assembled and built over in Japan without my hands in it, but I would have taken it apart again anyway to verify that it was done right anyway, so sorry other than the car being re-sprayed nothing has happened to it till it lands on the 10th. Is there a better place you would prefer I chronicle my experience importing a car? I bought the car in December and even dragged my feet on the subject till there was actually more to talk about.
If you aren't enjoying the story, you are welcome to change the channel. I have had more and more people asking about what is up with my car, when is it coming, what all was involved, insurance and blah, blah, blah. This was far easier and simply laid out than a dozen PM's and going over the same thing 11 more times. I hope, and expect, to see more people going this same route as they discover and learn about what it is like, that is obtainable, and that for the price of a Swapped S13 you too can own an imported R chassis.
Ps 1 room full of parts doesn't make a "build".... I'm 100% right there with ya. There are parts still coming in containers, parts at different local performance shops (was easier than going and picking them up), and had this car been local and I could already have been under it and known what is already addressed on the car (and needs to be addressed), more parts would already be on their way.

I didn't mean to be rude, if thats how it came out. At the end of the day, a build is building a car with parts. Not a persons Skyline getting imported to the states. All you got done was repainting it. You should of started it after the car came, and you installed all your parts on it.

Just for you. Does that make your hind quarters feel better about the situation? If not, hang tight, the car is sitting at the port right now getting cavity searched and certified for exemption.
Then after I slap on all these parts, I'm going to SR it. Merica! :keke:
Picked up a Kazama shift knob on YAJ for a 1yen. Not sure I love it, but the price was right. I didn't like the metal Trust knob on my old CA S13 as it like to get hot in the sun during the day, but I don't for see this car ever sitting in the sun that long, even at an event. My friends at SURE motor sports are already ready to provide a duracon shift knob, and they are going to provide all of the vacuum lines with silicon lines so I don't have to worry about dried out lines once the car is freed from captivity. I will also be running their Vacuum block, that have supported every one of my previous builds and big supporter of me Importing this car. In the future, they will probably be helping me fab parts I need made as things progress.

@g34gabby, if you dont mind me asking, what is the breakdown as far purchase, shipping, fees through the importer? If you covered this I apologize, I read through everything and didnt see that. Congrats however, hopefully here in the next day or 2 its sitting in your possession. Look forward to all of the parts you're adding. Subbed.
$8500 covered:
car
importation
taxes
fees
paperwork translated
tag
us title service
Literally everything leg work wise is handled by Rivsu. Once they are done getting tags and doing their once over to make sure everything is safe and healthy, they will release the car to me.
I paid an additional $1500 for the car to be painted any color of my choice:
body
door jams
excluding engine bay
Total investment on the car is $10k + the parts I have handled on the outside of the actual car purchase. I definitely Could have saved and not done the paint, but it is one of the few things I'm not capable of doing. I have tried paint and can do little things, but I have 0 patients for doing it and the prices state side for previous cars were far more expensive than what they wanted so I couldn't say now. Was pretty hard to say no at that point, specially when LP2 was an option.
With the way the docks are going, It is unfortunate, but it will probably be money before my car is free. Union workers only have 1 guy who is allowed to check the cars and he is taking his sweat ass time. Ugh, I expected them to "show how important they are", but god I'm about to go nuts here. Lucky my boss is very understanding and letting me relocate my vacation time to coincide with its parole date.
Awesome! I'm anxious for you!
thank you

Here is a list of MOST of the cars they have sold and the price sold at, really good reference point. things have gone up since I bought mine, but there still are deals to be had. there is currently a black GTST for $7,142 that they just picked up and are in the process of putting on up on the their website. That car is in amazing condition compared to what mine was in, and it is 5spd.
Steve posted that on Skylineownersusa and I was just shocked how good a deal that one was. idk the mileage on it or much more about it, but it seems like a spectacular deal.

Was a little concerned tbh, but I have been driving stick for over a decade now and have taught a bunch of my girl friends how to drive 5spd, so shifting from the right hand side from that aspect was very natural.
The seeing perspective is definitely going to require a bit of learning curve, specially in reference to going around curbs and stuff, but I'm not concerned.

^^^RHD is actually pretty annoying to live with if you plan to daily the car. Its fun for a bit but the novelty wears off pretty quickly. The main thing that made me dump my RHD s13 awhile back was the fact that I couldn't see to pass farm trucks and school buses on all the 2 lane country roads we have around here. City driving isn't too bad as long as your extra careful when making lane changes and passing. My experience with that hatch was the main reason I decided to put my GTR fund into a powervehicles tour of Japan next year instead. RHD did feel amazing on the track though, 2nd to 3rd up shifts just felt natural to me with the RHD setup.
Car looks great though and it looks like you have a pretty good collection of parts. Looking forward to more!

Other then flicking the wipers instead of the indicators, you'll get used to RHD cars quick. Just take your time with left hand turns, merging on to highways, and land changes.
Oh and you'll get a lot of "err what the heck?" looks when other drivers see you on the other side of the car. LOTS of stop light chatter as well :)
I have a daily so having a RHD car doesn't bother me at all... Unless I'm trying to go through the drive through by myself :(

May have missed it the previous page, but this not my daily. I own a 2013 CX5, a lifter ranger, a 2003 mazda 6, and the skyline. it isn't going to be anything other than a weekend car.
Yep, we have decent collection on our hands. It will be bigger as soon as I get the car in my hands.

Lol, the drive through thing is pretty funny, have friends who even drive their skyline backwards just so it isn't a problem. Food and drinks inside my skyline isn't an option, so I don't think I will have to deal with that.

Yes the car is state side. The car is sitting in Jacksonville with an Estimated release date of tomorrow.
The car is EPA and DOT exempt. That means that any of the nonsense with changing glass, meeting Emissions, and every other rumor that only a 1/4 was ever true don't have to be addressed. There is needing to make this car to conform to any standard as it is EXEMPT from regulatory standards.

I already have a s13 with a rb25 neo swap. not drifted to fuck as most guys have on here. it's daily driven and will get a new paint job shortly.
in your opinion are the r32 gts chassis that similar to a s13? so similar that aside from the

there is no real reason to own a gts when you can modify a s13 for the same price(maybe a little more)? and the s13 parts are more avail here than gtr parts(ie interior pieces glass etc)??

OEM windshield for most cars are close to that price. But insurance always covers it so no one really takes the full impact. I found a mint windshield for my gtr on ebay $600 shipped. No import car is fiscally smart but it's fun as hell. Regular parts is the same as any other car. You have to wait a week longer for shipping. To get a break down of car parts for any car go to jp-carparts.com. Grab the part number from there and go to anythingnissan.com. If it doesn't show up there then amayama.com. I'm pretty seasoned at this process with well over $15k in parts through these companies.

There are a whole lot of parts that swap over from a S13 and an R32, GTST or GTR. They are very similar creatures. I didn't opt for the $ thing, though it did not hurt the choice either. The GTST is RWD, and have always perfered RWD sport coupes. AWD really does me no good in florida anyways. The steepest hills here are speed bumps.
I had an S13, even sold it to pay for this car. For what it would have cost in a swap alone, I would be at more than I have invested in this car with a CAGE, I6 with known miles (not some junkyard motor with "60k Miles" and a hacked harness), and most of all the shell. The shell and the body is not something you can get here. No S13 will ever look like a R32 no matter the amount of FG and bondo. The AC functions, the car only has 72k miles (which my S chassis sold for 5k with a KA and 163k) and at the end of the day I can flip this car for what I have invested into +. Hell I have already been offered more than double (including what I have spend on aftermarket parts) just for the car.
you can justify it anyway you like. I have driven R31s with Rb20s, R32 GTR Nismos, Soarer and I have driven just about every production sports car state side(Supras, FDs, Evos, STIs, ect). Is it as much power as a R32 GTR off the shelf? no, but with a tune and a little money invested I'm going to be more than happy with it.
The idea that parts are hard to come by is False. Would I daily it? probably not, but I have yet to find ANY part that is hard to source, and an RB26DETT is a direct bolt on and only a dozen or so shops that have them laying around within a 20 min drive (Rivsu, Real Street, Enjuku, Raw Brokerage, JDM orlando, Carisma, ect).... so if anyone is concerned about that they need not be. There have been 1/2 cuts of these cars coming to america for YEARS now and parts are not that hard to source. Sure advance might not know what plugs to sell me, but they didn't know that with my CA either.
Rear Side Glass: Z1 Motorsports $500 or so OEM
Winshield: rightdrive.ca $1k shipped OEM $700 aftermarket
Can source them cheaper actually, but yeah.
I like that Enjuku is doing Tomei Lexan as well. Will be the first choice if anything cracks on my car.

Why buy a RHD Skyline?
- There are few of them on the road (versus the plethora of modified 240SXs)
- They aren't particularly expensive
- There are plenty of importers bringing them in now
- They are quick out of the box and it is easy to increase power output
- Generally in better condition that USDM counterparts of the same age
- Many parts from the 240SX/Z32 can be used
- Skyline specific parts are EASY to source

Why does one have to be better than the other? It is simply personal preference. Gabby likes Skylines and would prefer to own one over a 240SX. Another person may prefer a 240SX over a Skyline. Another may prefer an S13 Silvia over an S13 240SX. We should be celebrating diversity rather than questioning vehicle preference.

So, if you follow me on facebook by now you know I got about 0 sleep last night. Got up earlier, went to tire kingdom and dropped off the SSR's. Was funny having the tech sound extremely confused that we had staggered fitment wheels....
Anyways, This was 10AM when I first got to climb into my car. I'm not going to say I was crying a little, it was hot and that was sweat, I swear.

did a little inspecting, the Paint is flawless. a couple of the other guys who were there checking out their cars were painters, said that there was no way they could have done as good a paint job in their shop for under 5k. I'm beyond pleased with the color and finish. The car got new plugs, and it has a slight miss, we have just gotten started. with that, a few photos........ Sorry No bikini shots...

The Work BRS Poisons didn't make it through the day, they are really sweet looking and with a new paint job they would be great, but they are 16s and just too small. Will restore them and dump some more $ into the R32. On the upside I found that the car does have a set of Tein coils, no idea what model, they are pretty dusty and nasty. The Greddy's are still going in. The Car has a Pilot brand Turbo timer handing under the dash that will need to be secured, and the Exhaust is a Japanese brand, Starts with a K (10 letters or so), and from what I gather is a bit of replica brand in Japan and will get replaced with something proper.... Arc, nismo, Greddy, ect.

Very excited, once they are done checking everything over it will finally be home and then the real work starts. Rivsu was awesome and let us do a little work there, but it is only the beginning.
no Suspension arms were found, I have my doubts that there are any, so that will be on the list. Was shopping for some Nismo ones earlier in the month, but now it is incentive to get to work.

The car looks amazing so far. I can't wait to see more pics. That's too bad about the poisons, but I bet they'll find a good home elsewhere. Get some sleep, so you'll be able to enjoy the experience of bringing it home. :2f2f:

Thanks.... but just to be clear, I'm a woman. Not a dude ;)
Everyone was as much curious about my car as to what the deal was with a girl driving an R32. Oddly enough I wasn't the only girl there to pick up her car, the black GTST in front of me also belonged to another chick who her man had one of the GTRs that also came in.
I enjoyed seeing all of the cars, the ZXR200 was beyond awesome, didn't even know those existed till recently. I also really got a kick out of the GTE R32 sedan. I have never seen an single cam RB20 before, and certainly not an RB with a Dizzy.... was definitely something different.

Those are V36 "sport horns" they were aftermarket options for a V36 skyline.

There are several women on the skyline boards, they are just a little more quiet about it. Me.... not so much.
believe me 11 months ago, I never thought this was a reality either. If you buckle down and work hard, you too can own one. There is one that is more stock than mine and cleaner F/S from Rivsu right now for $7142 that will be shipped here in april. That is cheaper than most Jank S13s with an SR swap... it doesn't have to be cost prohibitive if you can be patient and wait for it.
:keke: my mistake!
No worries. Just don't come up to me and ask if it is my "husband's car"...:fawkd:

Actually the agressive stance btwn the R32 GTST and Gtr isn't that noticeable unlike the all the extrior differences in the R33 variants. Easier/cheaper to make an R32 GTST resemble a GTR vs an R33 to do the same. Plus the 32 is the underdog to me.

Congrats again on the car. It looks like it's in amazing condition.
I was beyond pumped when my car finally landed, and I was able to see/sit in it, so I know how you feel. Just a little longer, and you're out and about driving it.

Wait what? I've seen both plenty of times in person, and there's a noticeable difference between a GTS and GTR. And some of them are rather in your face.

To the untrained eye maybe. Sure putting a GTR front end and spoiler on a GTST make it a little difficult to tell from the side but the ass will give it away easily. Brakes are another thing that would easily give it away
Also will look a little off with having wider fenders up front with a flat ass.

Yeah, well you do have me up on the cheap parts and being able to go to the part store and not be told that they car you asking for plugs only has 4 cylinders, why would you want 6.... :hs:
yep the wider front and rear are pretty noticeable on the GTR Vs GTST. Granted you really have to know to see it, but I can live without the fatty rear end. the 17x9s with 235s filled the rear fenders pretty well. Once it is lowered a lot more on the greddy coils, it I will know if I want to roll the rear fenders or not. Still thinking 15 or 20mm spacers maybe in my future, but right now I'm content with the look.
More important things to attend to right now. May have gotten to do a few 1,2nd, 3rd pulls in the parking lot on sunday.... It is enough for now to make me :). FMIC, Bigger injectors, and tune with a bump in the boost really should help that as well. Going to need to do some reading on how far I can go before I need to start looking at upgrading the baby snail. 300 will make me beyond content, but I say that now....

So in the down time my husband has been playing with these wheels. We ASSUMED they were Work BRS Posions based on the lay out and the obvious center caps. The thing that gets us is that there is no "WORK" embossed into any of the spokes. There is "WOOD BELL" which I have googled and found nothing on which is really odd. The build date stamps show 5/90 build date and they are 16x7 +0 (I believe) and 16x8 (Tapes show back spacing, unsure of offset on these as the stickers were too owned).
Any ideas on these? I have considered cleaning them up and selling them, or maybe just cleaning them up and throwing them on my CX5. I could step the lip and go to 17 which I much prefer on the R32 body, but as of now I really love the look of the Varden Sports.

PS to take these apart the rear nut is a 10mm from the looks of it, what kind of socket is needed for the front? a standard 10mm 12 point do that? not as up on building wheels as I like so I'm not sure if this is a sandwich mount as they say or not? Any advice on that would be awesome. Will definitely give us something to expirement and learn with. once the faces are removed We can borrow a friends blaster cabinet and get all that corrosion and nasty paint off. Then to paint it a Nice gold color probably, will look good on the LP2 or dark blue CX5 anyway.

Right you are on that. When it comes down to it I can live with a GTST and just swap in a build RB30/26 setup. I more of an engine/suspension guy. Asthetics fall near the end with me. Although they are still important and can make or break a car. Hell look @ the Juke. I've hated that ugly (bullfrog on wheels) car/idea of it since day one. Drove one once... And gotta say its a fun lil bastard out the box. Now. I see why chicks like em.

ewww..... I desperately wanted to like the Juke, but the one I drove was so anemic and gross. For such a big vehicle, it also felt very cramped... it is how we ended up with a CX5.
Then again, I think Juke's are awesome looking, but I'm a little off so...
Have a lip and Amber corners coming, have Greddy Rear Spats, and it already has GTST side skirts. Once the aero stuff is done I think it will look even better. Wide fenders or not. The coils and FMIC certainly won't hurt in the beauty department either.

I would think they probably are the same. These ones were from japan with a sticker from Nissan dealership that labeled it a V36, but I have no doubts you could add it to just about any automobile under the sun as it is just a single spade end connector like every other horn on the market.
anyway, Detailers must have really enjoyed my car they cam back for round 2 and to take some photos for their site....

Car should be parked in my driveway tomorrow or friday. Car cleared all inspections, now it is just down to completing the tagging process and I can rock this baby this weekend. Husband had surgery today so we had a little time to run to the shop after and check it out, down side is he isn't allowed to do much for 2 weeks, so I maybe have to get my brother in law to lend me a hand to get things installed. Don't see me being patient enough to wait for the 2 weeks to get the FMIC in and new coils. Did get to drive it around a little bit, need to find myself a test pipe or make one, the car needs it.

The seats in the car are the Gray GTST seats. Quick google search found these. (mine look the same, but mine are cleaner)
http://www.sau.com.au/forums/uploads/post-10715-1167653885.jpg
They are pretty comfy, hell of a lot better than s13/s14 seats. I have a set of R33 GTST seats that I posted earlier in the thread as well. I haven't decided yet, but I think I'm going to run the R33 seats. They are even more comfy and better looking.
As for right now Eprom seems to be the easiest and best value. Once we start making real upgrades then we will cross that bridge. I like Nistune, PFC is pretty popular but not a lot of support locally from what I have been told.

you should really look into Nismotronic the person who produces it is in Carisle, PA he sales/installs for 550 on stock ecu. can do everything AEM can do pretty much little better than Nistune in certain ways. Also is very good at responding, if i hadnt went with AEM V2 on my Gtr i would have went with this.
Just an idea at least and its in the states rather than Nistune being based out of Australia i believe?

yep, I have looked at them, I have checked out that adaptronics unit as well. Where I'm at right now, Eprom is still going to be far more reasonably priced and better suited for as mild as it is right now. Once I'm happy with the suspension, Then I can worry about EMS.

Car is home all tucked away, Thank you so much to all the guys at Rivsu for make things happen. Steve, Emily, Jordan, and Dusty I could not have done this without you guys and thank you for putting up with all of the crazy people at the DMV so I didn't have to.
Temp tag is on the car, full tag will be mailed to me.
Picked car up friday night at 5pm, buy 9pm I was out on the road with it and took it up on the interstate and it performed flawlessly up to 120klm on the way to what would be the worst car meet I have ever been too. Car is a dream to drive just wasn't married to my cousin so the crowd there were a little confused as to what I pull in to the parking lot. Friend brought his ZXR200 and both of us has picked our cars up at Rivsu only hours earlier. Was great test to stretch their legs and I think they performed even better than I expected.
Fixed the Headlight today after some hassle getting proper bulbs (finding H3C's Lol GL) and got that working. have 2 working lights is good I think. Will be sorting some more stuff out tomorrow, Rob being tore up has limited just how much he can help with. Him looking over my shoulder and telling me what to do is not working out as good as it sounds..... plus I would rather be driving it than working on it.
I did get to dive in and find some stuff I didn't know was there. the Sun visors are in the trunk due to the cage and the OEM owners manual was behind the drivers seat (I swear the OEM manual is like Japanese Anime... crying turbos characters and all). I'm finding seeing around my cage and spoiler to be a bit of a challenge, but I don't think I will be crying about that too much. family friend who owns a Pantera once told me the way he changes lanes was to step on the accelerator for 3 seconds and then change lanes. no need to worry about blind spots if you know everyone is car lengths behind you.
Lastly it bares repeating, Thank you Rivsu. My dream car is finally a reality.

took a few photos as we made our trips around town visiting family and such with my cell phone. Was going to get some Go-pro videos.... but Steve decided he wanted to do some engine swaps instead of going for a cruise in his two tone :(
Didn't take too much apart yet, looking right now for info on the radio. guess they are classic Carrozzeria (Pioneer) cdx0505 EQ CD player and KEH-M77 equalizer which are early 90s "classics". there is a little intermitten times where it does/doesn't light up and I'm unsure if that is supposed to be that way or Problems in the harness. It also only goes up to 89 on the FM dial as that is all they use in japan.... which is annoying as hell. It also doesn't look to have any Aux inputs, maybe pulling them and putting in a proper single/double din with aux input, or maybe just a bunch of gauges.
First priority is getting the Cat out of the exhaust. It needs a test pipe ASAP, and I may break down and order two one from flebay, and one from Tomei or RS*R, as the latter will take a month or so to get here most likely. Time to hit up some of my contacts and see if they got some legit ones laying around. I know it is a test pipe and they are all the same, but I have gone this far with getting legit parts, it would seem wrong to put eBay parts in other places.

unless you wanna go for weight saving then a Titanium test pipe would be in order for that miniscule of weight saving lol

Lol, yeah something like that. Had a dude stop take pictures of the car as he left the restaurant sat night, get in the car with his family, then stop traffic in the middle of the parking lot as they were leaving the lot to take more photos. I was park next to a heavily modded SRT10 Ram truck and my little purple thing was getting all the attention.... I don't think the guy parking next to me even knew what he had parked next to.
The worst so far is people in traffic who all but have taken out my rear 1/4 trying to get pictures of it well driving. Jebus... I hadn't had the car 5 mins and the dude had his girl out the window of his 4runner.
I have done the cheap stuff for test pipes in the past, it isn't even about being light or expensive. I just feel like the car is owed it. I can find the Name brand ones over seas for pretty cheap used, so it isn't even about the $, just the love for car.
I get called a brand snob sometimes, but it is what it is. I'm not going to settle for an NRG Quick release either. I just need to get around to ordering a nice Works Bell unit or Sparco. Probably end up with Sparco, because of friends who can get me a great price on a brand new one.
Already have the BNIB Blitz sitting waiting to go in, that wasn't even all that big a $. the SSAC and CX stuff is about 3-400 for a kit, the blitz wasn't a whole lot more from GTRgarage even after shipping.
I have looked at the RB25 turbo setup. Haven't really decided on that just yet. Having the car less than a week and now having an idea of what is/isn't there is starting to form an idea of where I want to go. Seems the RB25 Turbo setup is definitely the bang for your $ deal.

The frequency is different for North America. Even if you buy an adapter, it will only get you a few stations. Just bin it, and get something from Broadfield.
I personally ditched the odd double din in my Silvia, for a Alpine Navi unit.

Little heads up to future importers and locals, The R32 GTST (unlike the GTR) uses a H3C base bulb. I believed my car had HIDs (later the harness was traced to show that was to my fogs that have been removed). There is a local shop known as "HID Unilimited" and I figure what the hell they were open on sat afternoon give them a shot and we could order nicer ones later, just to get the car on the road.

Us fuel is 93 Octane in my area (though some some locations do sell 98,100, 108, and of course C16 and good stuff). We also have E85 which is a no go.
our 93 ~97 ron, Premium in Japan is 100 ron and isn't enough of a difference to get bent out of shape about based on everything I have read.
the car will be getting a tune, just going to get it to a point that is really worth the investment.

09-03-2014, 01:32 PM
Be careful with what fuel you run. Most 93 octanes in north America will be 10-15% ethanol...the only ethanol free premium gas (at least in Canada) is Shell V-Power 91. which is what most of us run in GTRs, with great results...food for thought

Yes, the 97 Ron is based on the 10% ethanol. I have done a bit of reading on the subject. Not overly concerned about it right now.

Very common misconception. The octane ratings are pretty much the same between between US and Japan.
We us R+M/2(AKI) as Japan uses RON rating. If you convert them using a formula (forgot the formula now) they are just a point or so difference

Yes that is sarcasm, with as rinky dink of a shop as it was, I would think they needed all the business they could get. They are parts by china based on what I have seen and not what belongs on this car. I just wanted a freaking light bulb, I was impatient and didn't want to hold out for the proper parts.
lesson learned. there are plenty of performance shops locally that I work with and had I thought any of them would have had something like that I would have just called them up instead.
Took my car out for a "pleasure drive" as the insurance company called it last night. After embarrassing a couple of guys in their newer 5 series they pulled up and were very impressed...... Till they found out a chick was driving. Then it was a lot of studdering and loss of words. All they could say was "that car can really ma ma move".

My family builds fuel pressure vessels. After a few horror stories of what it does to tanks, I will pass on the E85 (if E-free were viable and available I would do that instead). We use real race fuel in our drag cars, if I really want to up the octane, I will do the right way.
Meth is actually more viable option than E85 anyway, as there are only 2 stations locally that sell E85 in town and both are 20+miles from my house.
Neither are in my plans for the future. I prefer the race gas, but I don't see this getting taken far enough to need it.

Lots of that, Lots of Fender riders.... as in people driving recklessly almost into my fender to try and snap a picture for their instagram or w/e it is people do with those photos. Had a guy at the gas station at about 8:30AM climb out of his truck, mouth hung open, "its too early for this shit. Is that what I think it is."
Dude took all kinds of photos of the car well we went inside and grabbed some food before we went to a car show last sat. It is funny, we have several awesome classic cars and much badder cars than this, and this is the one that gets the most attention bar none. A lot of the other skyline owners state side with both legal and "legal" cars have said that is how life is just going to be till I decide to part with it. It doesn't bother me much, and Honestly I'm happy to share a ride with just about anyone.
though I must admit, people thinking I have 20-30k into it does make me feel good.

Once I'm happy with the suspension and have everything the way I want it the engine will start getting torn into. As of now it moves wonderfully under its own power and I can settle with that for now. Have so many choices and directions I could go, but I have really gravitated to the Tomei 2.2 kit. I have also talked to a few people about 3L swaps and some dude was selling complete bottom ends for dirt cheap, but I'm just not sure that is for me. I'm trying to be an adult about the whole thing and make sure the Garage is paid for before Invest in what is within it so life sometimes gets in the way. I'm also not willing to settle for the ISIS, XXR, ECT, ECT parts by ebay stuff so it takes a bit longer, but it is entirely worth it to me.
As for the the parts I already have, I need to get on getting them in. I have more parts arriving later this month in a Container and will have some Aero to paint at that point as well. I have been slacking a little, but a bunch of stuff we will be getting done Sat. brother in law is going to come lend a hand as well to duct tape and slap some stuff on. Got the zip ties and spray paint ready.... :keke:

I really don't want to knock on the 2.2 kit, but it really isn't cost effective. RB25's are soooo cheap these days, that might be a good choice. But what is your end goal I guess I meant.

I vote RB25 when the time is right. I don't see you having a problem selling the entire RB20 setup to someone who wants to slap it in their s-chassis. But like you said, focusing on the suspension is a good start. Make sure all the bushings are in good shape etc. I would probably beef up the braking system before upping the power.

Little tease. Installed the Type S Greddy coils, Got the blitz FMIC in place. Will go into a little more detail about what else we found and did later. Car looks and handles 100% better not being on old, rusted, lifted, and gross Tein coils. No idea on the model, I will post a bunch more later. Found some very cool stuff in the trunk, and even some hidden goodies under the front bumper ;).
Once Photo bucket stops failing, I will post a bunch more.
Big thanks to Jordan (bozo in the picture) for coming over on Sat and helping us do some work and Johnie from Rooks mag for stopping by to spend a minute. good friends are always a blessing, even if they like to photo bomb your pictures.

So Friday night we started taking things apart. Dumped the oil, started taking off the front bumper. We started on the strut mounts, but.... well I really don't know what cusco was thinking.
http://i234.photobucket.com/albums/ee95/flippelax/IMG_20140912_221429_079_zps50bd8521.jpg
This strut bar has the cross bracing crossing over the rear strut studs. meaning an open end is really the only option. When we put a wrench on the drivers side one, it was really on there. After hammers, chisels, and lots of PB blaster we let sit and soak for the evening. We had a bunch of ideas including getting a nut cracker, but really had no idea what to do, Never had a strut mount become so much trouble. The next morning My buddy Jordan came over, we had already discussed the issue and he had an idea before we started cutting or lighting it up. He had wrenches the flared and we give that go. After more stripping of the nut, Rob suggests he break out the air hammer. I didn't really like the idea as it was a super cheap unit he had picked up from HD and never used before. He let Jordan give it a go anyways (better than the night before making all that noise) and after a few strikes it started to turn. Ended up using that to remove the stupid nut....

Success!
once that was over, the lower strut mounts were super easy to remove and the strut fell right out. Love the upper control arms on the R32, it makes getting everything in and out SOOOO easy.
We also started to take apart the IC setup.

And all in stalled. Beautiful fit, Used all stock mounting points and other than cutting a little off the front bumper, it was beyond perfect fit. Only thing I would have liked more, would have been the Turbo outlet pipe had a long 45 ugly coupler that I would very much like to eliminate.

Over all I'm very happy with the coils. To put into perspective, I have owned BC's most of my Modded life. These Greddy Type S have put every unit I have ever ridden in to shame by far. I need to remove the fender liners as they are rubbing, but that was kind of expected. I also installed some Fender washers provided by one of the local shops who has is very enthusisating about seeing my car progress and perform. Thanks to Frank at "hi-rev" for the gift. They look great.
Well we were installing things, I found not 1, but 2 road side nissan kits in the fenders of my R32. Nissan screw drivers, nissan wallets for all the parts, Nissan Pliers, 4 Nissan tire chucks, and the OEM jack, OEM jack tools, and spare tire was perfect other than a little dust. I also found a bottle of JDM coolant, no idea on the brand, but it was kind of neat find. With the Road hazard kits and coolant all in the trunk of this car, I would have expected to be much more a bucket.... but guess they are just prepared for the worst?
The frame, frame rail, and every component of the car are beyond mint. Not 1 drop of rust. So Impressed with how clean this car is. The only Rust I did find was removed when I put the coils in, those things looked as though who ever had the car at auction took the nastiest spares they had laying around and jacked them up as high as they could. Clearly those weren't the position someone would have picked.... O well, probably made it easier to load in containers safely anyway.
Very happy thus far. has come a long way already with just a little wrenching.

Thank you, I try to keep it respectful and tasteful. It costs a little more, but 100% worth it. I'm so in love with the paint.
Got a few events to go to this weekend (Invited to Classic and Exotic car show for the people who detailed the car when it arrived state side), May take it out to Daytona international speedway on the 27th to auto-X, or I may spend the day working on one of our other projects instead... haven't decided yet.
Have a 53 Sunbeam we are trying to get running that has been sitting for 17 years, very close to having it kick over. Had never heard of it before my dad brought it home from his uncles house in horrible shape. Hope to get it running to sell it for a few more $, Seems there are less than 200 of them still around.

Sat we took the car out for a little "pleasure ride" to the mazda dealership dropping the CX5 off for its oil change. Had a freebie from the dealer to try and entice us to get service, wouldn't believe how much "other services" we had to turn down to get a "free" oil change. Kind of surprised their sales guys didn't come up and ask about the car, or better yet try and get me to trade it in on their new latest and greatest w/e.
Sat night we went back and forth on if we were going to drive out to meet. The weather has been so rainy Import nationals was canclled because the strip was "seeping" water. after much debate we went to a meet called "stanceformers".... yeah it was about what you would expect form them. Had a million and one kids so excited to see my car and I walked back up to the car, and asked the hand full of photographers if they would like me to relocate my car to a better lit spot. After they returned their jaws to the upright position, they all thanked me and were very excited. I moved it over which only caused more of a stir and the car spent the next hour and 1/2 with people taking pictures of it.
Had a guy come up and ask lots of questions with a really clean boosted Z33. As we are having the conversation one of the staff running the show asked who owned the car, they wanted to get all the TSX's in first row as they ran the event. when I said "its mine", the dude dropped to his knees on the wet asphalt and started bowing.... I had never experienced anything like that. Was very entertaining. (if you spot my car on instagram please share... I'm too old for that crap)
Anyways, on to Sunday. The car's audio system had been lighting up, and turning off based on how the bumps in the road went. We figured there was probably and electrical issue behind the HU and decided to tackle that. What we found was more Flee market esk wiring than we had seen in a long time. Brother in law is a freak when it comes to wiring and his spidey scenes were going postal. We went from fixing it, to ripping apart 1/2 the dash (not as fun as it sounds when working around the cage). We re-worked the boost gauge to a proper power and ground, not spliced into the radio. we found a blitz Turbo timer 1/2 wired and tucked under the dash, no idea what they were thinking, but we made a custom harness with jumpers and it works, just needs to be mounted and wired properly.
We eliminated the all of the "harness" for the radio and went back to the bare stock bones. We left radio in place so there wasn't a huge hole in my dash, but have something in the works for later. Not going back to the JDM radio (which was only a 2 channel @ 25watts output btw...).
Think I have decided to eliminate all the audio stuff in general. When I'm driving the engine is what I listen to, so IDC to listen to w/e garbage is on the radio.
so here I am again, waiting on parts, Rob took it upon himself to start breaking down the BRS poisons last night. Want to clean them up and get them sold. wasn't mad that he took the initiative to do it, but really wish he had started before 10pm.... lol.

So last week was my 3rd wedding anniversary and my husband and I always take that week off. We did some "touristy" stuff and enjoy the week together, we also made some time for the R32.
Did a little detail work for the "big car show" over the weekend. (more on that later... bleh) Painted a few parts that were old and weathered. wire brushed and cleaned the intake manifold and got everything looking pretty. I can't believe how much work it was to get the cross over pipe for the IC piping looking that good. Got to get that out of there....

I've never been much to take photos of the cabin, for the most part other than the cage it is completely stock other than a few gadgets and boost gauge. more on the Gear indicator later
the blitz Power meter is great. Kind of had to wing it on wiring it up, but so nice to have a true MPH gauge in the car. Was comfortable with converted in my head, but it is very nice not to think about it.

This car was originally MTX. Steve had an extra ATX Bezel laying around as mine was damaged. just waiting for the proper one to arrive to put that into my car. Should be in the container they are unloading, just waiting for them to let me know when to pick up some more parts.
as you can see in that photo, under the PRND there is no controls for my auto spoiler that used to be on the front end of the car. in the first post you can also see the damage from what looks to be where someone ripped a gauge or something mounted to the dash and cracked it.

LOL YES. Yes that was how the dash arrived. weird light up cup holders and all.
Yeah... about that meet. I had offers to go out and watch the World street car Nationals at OSW.... We made the choice to go to something that was sold as fun and "chill" event. I now remember why I usually only bring my cars to private events. I'm way too old for those kinds of meets. On the upside did get some fantastic shots done by the guys at Rooks, so it wasn't a total loss of a day.

I saw your car at the V2 meet! Car looked great, and the paint is awesome. I was working on a video for a buddy, we were in the white SC300 with the polished rpfs.

Been toying around with what to do about that. I really want to find one of the old blitz adapters to make the RB26 ITBs and FF IM work on the RB20. I could make one or have one made, but the collection of blitz parts on the car is slowly growing and I really like the idea of keeping it that way. we have already talked to the guys at Levels Performance and Nick is willing to make me whatever I need, but only time will tell.

I was talking to Rob about that Yesterday. They said they weren't sure they were taking any more applications. It would be crime if your two tone didn't get accepted. I expect it to be much like all of SC1-3 which were an assload of shitbox hondas which I have kind of gotten my fill of.

Haha, yeah. Was wondering if it was this car, which it obviously was.
I wanted to get some pictures of your car, but I think you were leaving as we were pulling in.

They are actually sitting in my parts room waiting for paint. my front lip should be escaping from the container any day now along with my amber corners and a couple of other parts. Then the lip and spats are off to paint.

Whoops, Thought you have the whole Tommy Kit, didn't realize you had GTR front. I got the Tommy Kairia front lip for the Type M front bumper. Was supposed to be in the container that arrived last week :(. Going to have to wait for the next one it seems....
what color is this? looks rad af
The color is R33 Skyline Midnight Purple. Paint code is LP2
anyways....
Slave (Toyota Celica-Centric), Master (Exedy), and SS HEL clutch line ordered.
Clutch is being a bit of bitch to engage and think the slave is the culprit, going to replace it all well I'm at it.
went over to Rivsu, got my new Dash bezel swapped out with my Temporary guy. Now I have a GTR cluster shroud. Looks much better w/o the PRND
Will be a little while longer for my Lip, my corner lights, and my other surprise I guess. The guys who packed the container decided that only a hand full of things fit, instead of just filling thing thing like they should have. GRRRR... O well, I will survive.

Slave I ordered a centric one from a 84 celica because it is = in side to the Nismo, Got it in the mail already it looks great.
got my HEL stainless braided clutch line, Exedy Clutch Master cylinder should arrive today sometime.
Walbro 255LP Fuel pump, should be by the end of the week with filter and install kit from Street Unit Performance.
Got a Trust DP and test pipe coming state side. Friend had it laying around at his house back home and was kind enough to sell it to me for the price of shipping.

used this for reference, Ordered the centric part #, looks identical other than it being larger diameter to my stocker. Should work fine.
I ordered it from Rock Auto, for like $6 or something stupid like that for a brand new one and even found a discount code for them. If it doesn't work or hold up I will order a Nismo one.

Nismo is worth every penny. I've been clutch bashing mine for years and it has yet to leak a single drop. If you're switching to a heavier clutch pressure plate, I would recommend a stronger clutch fork pivot ball as well. The heavier clutch strain will eventually snap the OEM pivot at a most inconvenient time. I'm looking forward to your feedback on the larger bore slave cylinder. A larger bore will require more fluid thus requiring a longer clutch pedal stroke, correct? I've never used the stock slave, my clutch pedal has an extremely long engage to disengage pedal stroke distance. Must be My Nismo slave. My Nismo.

You'll get a slightly lighter pedal feel with the larger slave cylinder. This is a plus if you have a heavy duty clutch and/or just want more clutch pedal control.

Won't be able to say how much better/worse mine is as the one on my car right now is leaking, I remember what my previous S13s have felt like, but not sure how comparable that would be (even if the trans and slaves are the same).
As of right now My engagement point is almost in the floor, which at first it wasn't bad (kind of thought it was just part of learning a new car), but that was from the fluid being fuller than before.Once it got lower it was a complete PITA. When we install everything we will see what happens and I expect for a higher point that I'm currently experiencing. If at that point I'm not happy, we will drop the trans and replace the clutch and light weight fly wheel. I don't expect to need to do it, but if so it is what it is.
Master cylinder arrived today, Should be getting this all swapped this weekend.

A bigger slave wont change the engagment point, it only makes the pedal feel softer. I put a Nismo on my GT-R and thats all the changed. You might need to adjust the CMC rod to adjust the engagement point or you have air in the system

Been lagging on updating this.
Walbro 255lp installed. used an S13 kit with new filter and it was a direct swap.
Changed in engine bay fuel filter for fresh new one. the Old one was full of sediment.
cleaned MAFS
Cleaned all the connectors on the Ignitor
removed, cleaned, bought a new gasket for the IACV.
igintion coils and plugs were replaced when we picked up the car.
Chasing a random blip in the idle. I believe it is fuel related as once you get up into the RPMS the issue disappears and the car runs great. There are not issues with it breaking up into boost which leads me to believe it isn't igintion related. Already smoke tested the car and can say I'm 100% positive it doesn't have a vac leak. I have even removed the blitz BOV to make sure that it wasn't the culprit from when it VTA.
As for the clutch stuff,
Replace master cylinder with a brand new one for S13. used an HEL SS braided line and was going to use the celica Slave. The celica slave threads are the same, but mounting isn't even close. Went to the nissan dealer and grabbed a S13 USDM one and got the car back on the road. Clutch engagement is now at the top of the throw, and feels perfect. The old slave was rusty, worn, and the pin had worked its way into the hole on the clutch fork and caused it to engage very very late. Very happy now.
installed the ARC Front sway bar. Car handles like it is on rails now. Very eager to install the rear, just ran out of daily light.
As they say, this thread is worthlesss without pics.........

Friend had a little fun with one of the photos from Rooksmag.
Open to ideas or suggests on this stupid idle thump. Car has had since I have owned it. working through each component one at time to try and pin point what might be causing it. The fuel filter we installed in the engine bay is see through and the fuel is looking clear so I don't think is the fuel itself. Will be pulling the plugs this weekend to see if any of them are out of the ordinary.

Yeah I would inspect the plugs first, there is usually an indication of whats going on. If the plugs check out ok, I would check all the grounds within the engine bay. Check all wiring related to the ignition system. Not just visually check but also a physical check. Sometimes if wires feel hard and brittle, they can crack and break connection. Corrosion of the wire will also cause funky things to happen. This could also be a sign of a coilpack going bad. You may notice it on idle but traveling with a good bit of RPM (and having 6 cylinders) may mask the little "blip" until you slow down again and feel for it.

My car used to do the same thing. It will be interesting to see if its gone now that I have run all new vacuum lines and simplified everything.
