How does everyone swap to Sr20Det's or are planning on doing the swap if they can't legally drive them, and pass the emissions?

It all depends on where you live, it won't pass emmissions in Cali., but in wyoming(random state with not alot of people), i don't think they're too strict.
Also, not a lot of people on the board have done the swap, its a really expensive difficult process. And some people would prefer to put the time and money into their KAs. (all a matter of opinion)

I would agree with that. The KA is a fun little engine to work with. The aftermarket for it is growing very rapidly.
If you have doubts about it's potential, talk to Mr. Mark West, he'll give you 400 reasons.

here in SW Michigan we have NO emmission tests...... lucky me, eh? ask around even with muscle car guys to get an idea how tough the tests are in ur area...may be easy to slide thru. also keep in mind that a PROPERLY dynotuned sr20det can be tuned "clean"....its all up to the tuner!
years ago (and i mean YEARS ago!) in VA if ur car failed all u had to do was spend up to $50 on tune up parts to try to make it pass....if it still didnt pass u simply got a waiver and passed!! check ur local req'mnts u may b surprised of the loopholes to get thru!

SR's actually run pretty clean as long as they are tuned correctly. Several people have passed with a 3 in downpipe and no cat! If you have a cat or install one for the test just be sure to drive around and get it hot first then dont shut the car off while you wait for the test and it will be fine.

Thanks guys, I'll look into it. It's just that I've come across some really great deals on the SR motor, but I don't want to get it, install it, then not be able to drive it. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> I'll look for some loop holes or have my uncle, he's a mechanic, properly tune it to perfection <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
