Alrighty. Intro - I got my first S-chassis back in 2011??? Seems like so long ago.. Anywho sorta built a "stanceish" garbage car with cheap parts and hated myself for it. Sold it bought/sold/traded and whored myself through an E36 M3, e30 325i cabrio, FC RX-7, Hatch s13, and a Zenkie KA-T s14 within 6 months of selling my first coupe..... Ya I handle regret real well. I know.

Now I left off that owning the KA-T s14 and it was great but I didn't build it so it had to go. I ended up purchasing an original untouched 89 single cam two tone coupe 6 months ago (December of 13). Decided I was going to pull out all the stops and build the car I always wanted to with my first coupe.
And this is it the day I picked it up, 112k on the clock, leather, HUD auto single cam.. Ya Racecar.

The car was pretty straight when I first got it, A/C worked and was all around was pretty well taken car of for a 25 year old car. Interesting fact, It was originally sold in Hawaii and somehow made its way to Dallas, Tx where I purchased it. After I got it I started saving up and purchasing a few parts here and there until I met an awesome guy named Clayton Alley, that runs parts for http://www.lswansgarage.com/ which is a JDM importer that is literally just now getting started. Great guy that sells awesome parts at awesome prices. He hooked me up with a full RHD swap clip with full body harness door panels, all black coupe interior (since the two tone had blue leather... eww). And he also took a list i gave him for future goodies that I just recently picked up.

And after lots and lots of cutting/about 50 spot weld cutting dril bits and ummm massaging. I finally got the firewall out of the clip.

Right before I put the car down I put my Sil front on that in a very very odd turn of events got back from my first build. That awesome roller painted aero front. So now I have half of my old coupe living on in the new car. But this time with a new passenger fender thank god..

Unfortunately the guy I sold my first coupe to kinda destroyed the Aero bumper and I'm going to meet with my paint and body guy today to see if it is salvageable. If not I'm probably going to have to order one of the Dorki Dori reps.
Now at this point its about mid January and I have sold the KA-T S14 and have put all of that money into parts for the coupe. I put the coupe down around the same time I sold the S14 and time to get rid of the stupid reliable single slammer.

Unfortunately I don't have a bunch of pics from swapping firewalls mainly because it was so tedious and time consuming that I was more focused on actually getting it done than documenting it.

Lots and lots of welding, grinding, plasma cutting, and seam sealer later the firewall was in. And then I could finally start cleaning the bay and prepping for paint.

I got some OEM paint from work and used a fairly cheap HVLP gun I got at Northern Tool and sprayed the bay. I think it turned out "ok".. could have been better but its not going to be a show car.

So at this point I have full RHD black interior including door panels, window switches, dash,center console, and kick panels. I decided to ditch the auto seatbelts and got a found some more rare s13 Silvia manual belts with the extenders on them.

Ok. Unfortunately the body harness from my RHD clip was for a Non turbo CA18DE Silvia.
When I swapped the body harness from clip to car I had to find wiring diagrams basically for a CA18 non turbo to Blacktop SR20DET conversion. Not the easiest wiring diagrams to come across. The pin-outs on all the body connectors and wiring is way way different the single cam KA or even CA18DET cars. Lovely.. Oh well time to put the motor in.

I have a really small craftsmen 3 gallon that I used. It "worked".... Sorta but I could only spray for a max of around 15-20 seconds before I had to stop and let it build pressure again. I took a while to spray the bay but in the end the job got done.

Finally buttoned up all the interior... Although I still haven't installed the DCC due to one of the actuators being trash. Waiting on that.
So Boost, Water temp, and Oil pressure gauges are in along with my Greddy Full auto timer, new OEM shift boot pared with a Tomei 90mm is the bomb.

Apparently JDM cars have a factory bracket for a Factory equipped road flare... Kinda cool I guess. So I had to source an OEM road flare to go in it. Right???

Not sure if its common knowledge but RHD cars have the wiper on the left side of the column and the blinker on the right side so for the first week of driving this thing I was wiping my way from lane to lane on the highway.. The local cops didn't take that as an excuse but whatever.

And the doors from my half cut finally came in so that way I could swap the door handles and not have to use a different key to start the car and a different key to open the doors. And what do you know. They were two tone!

Considering they are probably 20 years old they are amazing. I had a Bride Zeta II in my previous car and it was awesome but for a street car Recaro makes the best seats in the world hands down.

After about a month of not getting the car to start and getting really frustrated/busy at work I decided to just take it the way it was and have a shop finish the little bit of wiring that was needed. Big thanks to Tay's Automotive and Tay the man himself for wiring up my SR into that piece of voodoo shit N/A CA body harness.
I drove the car for the first time in mid May after being down for 5 months for the RHD and SR swap.

I replaced everything except the RLCA's and the rear subframe bushings. Which are ordered..
So now I'm running on
New OEM FLCA's
Tein Hardened Inner and Outer Tie rods
New Sway bar bracket bushings, end links
Fortune Auto 500 coilovers
Isis full control arm kit. front and rear.
For some reason I can't find any pics of the new stuff installed..... Oh well I'll look around and update later.

Funny thing. After ordering a Tomei Expreme turbo elbow back in December and it being on back order forever. It finally got in stock at Enjuku, and shipped out to arrive 1 day before my car got running..

Since the car has been running I've had loads of fun getting double takes everywhere. And for anyone that says RHD swaps are stupid and not worth it.. Well you have never driven a RHD car in the states. It's so much fun screwing with people. And going through drive through's alone has made it worth it.
Got to take it out to the sticks a couple of weeks ago and visit Asuka. Had some fun tinkering with another coupe besides my own.

Been through hell and very disappointed with my wheel choices until recently. I first had a set of work XD9's that were going to go on the car and decided against those. Ended up picking up a set of Advan Racing RGII's just in really poor sizing for S-chassis. 18x10 +35 all around... They fit fine in the rear but the fronts were just too dam wide.

Pretty dam rare in the states. BEE-R BR-5 wheels. Super stoked for these to go on the car. I ordered new Vinyl decals for them from BEE-R and dropped them off at the powder-coaters last Friday to get redone in a nice gloss white. Black wheels have no place in this world anymore sorry folks.

Beyond delayed update.. So I ended up dropping the car off at my painter and he gave me a call about a week later to the extent of " ummmm yaaa I don't have time to work on it"... Ya awesome.

Spent a few more weeks looking for another painter and one day leaving the shop I noticed a car for a local paint and body shop called Team ALLTECH Garage who have done some really really rad work but are still a nice small operation. Worked out a deal with them and the car will be done in about another week or so. And out of that this is the only pic that the painter has givin me. He is a tease. I'm probably going to stop by the shop this week and get some more progress pics.

I have to say the Dorki Dori Aero bumper is super solid and much much more thick and durable the the OEM material. Though fitment was a bit of an issue and it did take some massaging (done after these pics) the bumper fits up great with a bit of work.

Topping off this post with a little purchase I made for work. Got a new roll around so maybe my income will allow for some forged pistons, and a bigger turbo this Christmas or something. They are going to be fixing all of the pinchwelds along with mounting my OEM Aero Skirts and valences so I'm not to worried about it.

Small update from paint, Body work is completed primer has been sprayed, still fitting the front end and, front end still needs to be primed but should be spraying color tomorrow or Saturday by the latest. Will be done late next week.

So the car was supposed to be done this past Friday, but it turns out that after the car was primed the painter and body guys were not happy with it, so I got back and they were block sanding the entire car back down to touch up some spots and reprime the entire car. The attention to detail these guys are doing is insane. I could not be happier knowing that so much care is going into the car.

First coat of clear got sprayed last night. Skirt's Valance's and bumpers are beings sprayed today should be done with clear/wet-sanding/buff and polish by mid maybe late next week. Taking a bit longer than I anticipated. But dam I could not be happier with the results. This guy really knows how to lay down paint.

Paint is dry and assembly has started. Wet sanding this week and then buff and polish.

Still need to mount the skirts and valances but wet sanding comes first.

Both Clayton and i do the same business (He's in san angelo and i'm in Austin)and we use the same supplier from Japan so when the opportunity came up to buy the car we went in halfsies...he kept the rhd and drive train and i kept all the panels for my car...small world ...Hope you don't mind me posting some pics...delete if you want

Picked the car up from paint last night. And wow.. All I can say is just Wow.. If anyone in DFW needs paint and body done Alltech Garage in East Dallas does phenomenal work. I am just astounded with how well the car came out. It is insanely glossy. Probably doing a little photoshoot this weekend with some high rez and sunlight.

Haha last year when yokoi from MCR Factory first came, I drove him and Travis around a bit and he was telling me how two tones are extremely rare in Japan now too. Nobody does them anymore, so I fully agree with you. If I ever build another coupe, two tone for sure.

I got a really good deal, they only charged me 3250, mainly because they WANTED to do the car and grow advertising for their shop. They did 3k worth of body work IMO and then a stupid amount of wet-sanding making a mirror finish on the paint. I had quotes from other shops up to 6k. But this shop had a couple of insanely clean s14's and 86's in the back lot so I knew it was in good hands lol.

Not even sure why I bought a daily though since my 80CF Argon tank Mig welder and all of my take home tools fit in the trunk of the coupe... Oh well..

Went by my friend Chris's place (I think his tag on here is Asuka) to get started on his tubs! I love fab work... May be needing some tubs on my car in the near future.... I never realized how much dam clearance it actually gives.

Probably would have gotten more done on the tubs but later that week at work I had a safety lock on my pocket knife break and it closed up and cut through a flexer tendon and had a blast waiting 2 hours in the lobby to get stitches that was fun.

Sorry to hear about your finger man. I am local to you and I love your build! i was wondering if you were planning on taking it out to cars and coffee or any meets anytime soon? I would love to be able to see it in person and even possibly film it. I make car videos for youtube and love the way your car turned out.

Not trying to be a party pooper but did BEE R change their style up or what? They don't look like the sweet ass aggressive one's from back in the day. I've never seen them with so much dish and no concavity. Those are the whole reason they look so mean and your center sections look different.
