So my sr20det won't start. I got into a fender bender about a year ago and now I have everything to get it going again. When I got into the crash initially it was spitting out black smoke when I rear ended the guy. It gashed the intercooler, I drove it home(lol i know dumb move) and it didn't have any pressure and would only go about 25 mph's. I didn't fire it up after i got it home for about 3-4 months and once I did it fire it up it stalled shortly after.I now have a new intercooler and other stuff but now it won't start. It cranks but won't start. Please help! Here's a vid! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdK1jdeSP04

driving home with a huge boost/vac leak could have fouled the spark plugs by running way too rich for that period of time. if you can, drain the remains of the old fuel in the tank and put fresh fuel in. a fuel stabilizer of some sort is worth a try if draining is out of the question. make sure all of your couplers are tight and avoid flooding the cylinders by cranking it over so much. checking your current plugs now can give you a good indication of what is going on. is it wet with fuel? covered in oil? carbon build up? all of these are troubleshooting signs. and it's a simple-shot-in-the-dark-fix, but double check that your coolant temperature sensor plug is still connected.

First I would verify if you have spark and fuel

Usually what helps me personally diagnose things when im working on a car is state the obvious things that are working.

Since the engine is cranking over there is obviously either spark or fuel not occurring. Pretty much you either have no fuel entering the chamber or no spark. But either way it is for a fact one or possibly both of those two things.

The way to check is to pull the plugs... If they are soaked in fuel its your spark.. If they arent then its probably your fuel that is non existent.

The first thing i would do is take those plugs out then connect to them to the plug wires and make sure they are resting on a metal part of the engine. Crank the engine over and see if you see spark. If you don't ... thats your problem.

If you do get spark... then its your injectors... Which means after the car has sat for awhile the injectors may have gummed up. Or something else is not allowing fuel pressure.

Pretty much you just need to focus on what is not occuring out of those two functions. Spark... or fuel... After you determine which is non existent, you find and fix the problem.

^ among that, do note that just cuz you hear your fuel pump prime does not necessarily mean you're getting (adequate) fuel pressure. pull the hose before the fuel filter and put your thumb over it and have a friend prime it and feel for pressure. if you're getting good pressure and you've verified spark, it's your injectors; assuming your fuel filter isn't absolutely trashed.

in any case, start with fresh plugs and maybe even a treatment of seafoam in the tank and lines.

Don't do that, put the feed line in a bottle, the fuel pump only flows fuel, the fuel pressure regulator is what makes the pressure, so if you want to verify pressure get a gauge.

Here is where I would start. If there is no spark you shoutld smell fuel outside of exhaust pipe while trying to start. Then verify spark take out a spark plug and plug into an unbolt ed coil pack and touch the metal part to a metal part of engine. Have a friend try to crank it while holding the plug to a metal part of the engine. If you see or hear an arc it's most likely not the ignition. Fuel injection test unplug the ignighter and unbolt fuel rail hold it up place a sheet of paper under it and have a friend try to start it while you are holding it. The injectors must be plugged in. If they don't spay fuel it's the pump. Rent a fuel pressure tester and verify fuel pump is good.

Oops sorry, I meant to block the hose with your thumb to feel if it builds pressure/flows. But putting the line in a clear bottle works as well, if you can mange to position it where it actually collects the fuel haha.

check coolant temp sensor harness

engine is probably flooded now. unplug the CAS and fuel pump fuse.

start the motor and let it turn. then try and start it up
