After seeing so many 240's absolutely destroyed over the years, I thought I'd see how many unmolested ones are still floating about. I have a 91 LE hatch that I keep in as close to stock state as possible. Its funny to see peoples reactions when I say I don't want to 5 speed swap it, or to "slam it on coils".

I've had to reseal the tail lights and spoiler, but other than that the body/ interior is almost perfect.
Also just put a rebuilt KA into it. Not a leak nor speck of dirt to be found!

put it away ,for retirement !
seeing 64/66 mustangs go for 20k+ unmolested .
the 240 is kinda comparable in my eye . back in the day ,so many were cut up and thrashed ,just like 240s.

I think a non-modified 240 is better than a poorly modified 240, but I still think the stock car has a lot of suckage.
Anyone who wants to keep the auto transmission, open-diff, suspension, brakes, wheels/tires, oem seats, steering wheel.... ugh, quite a miserable car to drive.
Its the choice of modifications that make these resto-mods worth-while. Thats just my opinion though...

I see more appeal to a stock S chassis because of the moment in time it captures, as opposed to a spray bombed gutted rattly tin can bouncing around a 'track' on K-sports.

I try to make my car as OEM as possible, without compromising performance, hence the Z33 wheels and Z32 brakes. Some of the other things (for example suspension) I have changed from stock, but I definitely don't think it affects the stock look/feel that I strive to achieve. I feel like the cars body style is really nice from the get go, so I would never want to put shitty aero, huge heavy wheels, etc etc..

I do secretly enjoy watching when 240's "wall tap" or get smashed in some way. It just means the value of mine goes up. I'm not saying it'll be worth $20,000 someday, but every little bit helps haha.
Spotted this gem at the Zoo the other day:

I can appreciate how clean that is, but there are things that can be legitimately improved, without detracting from the original feel of the car, I think.

This thread restores some of my faith in 240's. I have a pearl white '93 hatchback myself, and I get the reactions you'd expect when people ask me if I drift or whatever, and I always say no. I'm more on the resto-mod side of things though; where improvements can be made, I'll make them (S14 seats and the like).
That mentality makes me feel like the odd one out around these forums, so this gave me a reason to post again lol.

Kinda with Mike on this one. While I do enjoy seeing a well kept unmodified 240 from time to time, I definitely can't say I would keep one in stock form.

Broken hood hinges, rusted hatch, clear coat issues on the hood, roof, and trunk, peeled paint on the bumpers, ugly pea shooter exhaust, etc. Found a parts car in the exact same color (base model) and swapped hoods/trunks with it. Hence the wingless in the first pics.
I have a large appreciation for these cars, but it's more the cleanliness behind them. This applies to just about every single car out there.

EXACTLY. It doesnt take much to have pride in what you own. Simply take care of it, thats all.
A 240SX is nothing special, its just your basic RWD that is light-weight and fun to modify. If you choose quality parts, then you have a quality car. If you buy shitty parts then you have a shitty car. And if you choose stock parts, then you have a stock car.
No way in hell I would ever want to drive a 240SX with stock suspension, brakes, interior... not saying you cant do it, but whats good about it? There is a reason why the car was inexpensive to begin with.
When I see that champagne gold car above with the poo brown interior, it makes me cringe. My car started out like that, 1990 SOHC auto... fucking disgusting brown interior. I didnt mind it back then, it was my first car and was fun to dive in and modify. But nowadays, I would never want to go back. Theres not ONE thing that says awesome about that heap...

I know my car isnt 100% stock but ive been working on her as much as possible to get her back to "close to stock". the interior was one of the biggest projects. took me 2 1/2 years to hunt down someone who had door panels and a glove box cover that matched my rear seat. the cloth used on the door panels and rear seat is the weird maroon color that was installed in the 89-90 coupe with technology package (which are super rare). took me 3 years to find a complete hatch area liner that was in workable shape! took me an entire evening of repairs to clean up the back side of the liner. now the hatch area looks 100% oem again... outside of the 2 strut topper panels that i removed and enlarged the holes for my strut bar (it looks factory though, both holes are cut perfectly). the only mods to my interior are my momo steering wheel, D2 detachable hub and S14 SE seats. no gauages, no gutted interior, no racing seats... just 100% oem! even the exterior outside of my SSR meshies and wangan wing... all of my aero pieces are my dorkidori parts that are molded from the OEM aero bits. ive replaced the rubber trim around the doors so the rubber is fresh and nice over the mirror bit. when the car gets painted, all of the rubber window trims are being replaced. i plan on installing a brand new rubber weather stripping piece around the hatch opening soon. hell, ive even installed new hatch struts just recently so now my hatch stays open again (you can order these from Z1 Motorsports, the ones i have are meant for heavy OEM wings so my hatch opens with my wangan wing like a boss) i have an OEM SR air intake pipe and OEM SR air box out in my garage that are going to get reinstalled soon to clean up the engine bay and get rid of the open element filter! all of my intercooler couplers have been replaced with black ones, all of the tbolt clamps were replaced with brand new ones (i wouldve used black tbolt clamps, but no one makes them anymore). I plan on replacing the blue SAMCO hoses with black ones for a more OEM look. when i get my new Aeromotive FPR, its going to be in black and all of the lines will be black braided hose instead of steel braided... again, going for the lowkey OEM look! ive even got a brand new coilpack cover for the middle of my valve cover sitting in my garage fresh from nissan. i plan on installing that after the valve cover is given a fresh powder coat of matte black!
ive been working to restore this car back to OEM as possible. im so tired of seeing beat 240s out there all over the place, i miss the days when these cars unmolested and all looked as good as everything being posted in this thread! unfortunately drifting and hellaflush have really ruined what it means to own a clean 240. ok, theyre affordable RWD japanese cars... but to some of us theyre more than that. i guess we older guys just grew up in a totally different scene where owning at clean car and keeping it nice was the "in" thing! not go out to the track, hit a few walls and turn your car into garbage being the "in" thing like it is now :(
im so happy to see so many OEM/near OEM 240s in this thread, makes me remember the days when they were all like this!

Here is mine that I picked up a few days ago. It is 100% stock except for an aftermarket radio and an HKS exhaust (stock exhaust was rusted according to previous owner). It will remain fairly stock for a few months with the exception of getting suspension, quick release and a USDM kouki lip. Only reason I'm getting a quick release is for safety.

This thread is great! Sometimes I look at pictures of my car when I first got it. 100% stock and it looks damn plain. I'm all about original and OEM look, but 240 needs to be lowered a little bit with better wheels. OEM body kits are good addition too. I compare my car before and after and I like after way more than before. It's good to see there are people out there keeping 240 clean. Most people destroy them and it's sad to see.

bought the red and the gold one last year from the same dude. Sold the Gold one almost immediately after spending about $50 and fixing 2-3 little things. The red one I kept and modded a little, sold it for just under 5k when I bought my R32 GTST.

how it looked when it sold.
paid 3k for both cars, sold the gold one for 2.5k, sold the read for almost 5k, and used the money from the 3 cars worth of parts the seller had laying around to fund the mods on the red one. Now I'm on to bigger and better things....

it needed a paint job when I ordered it. Paid a little extra for it to be LP2. Ships this week and will be in Jacksonville in August. Rivsu imports took care of the car and the paint. will be keeping a close to OEM look on this one as well.

My daily. 93 vert. Bone stock as it gets. Interior came to me a bit beat up but I'm in the process of trying to "semi-restore" it. Asshole that owned it before me took a torch to coils, so it sits a little lower, but it still rides decent. I bought it with a blown h/g and warped head. Only thing not stock is the arp head studs.72537

It will remain fairly stock for a few months with the exception of getting suspension, quick release and a USDM kouki lip. Only reason I'm getting a quick release is for safety.
So.... It's not staying stock at all. The statement a "quick release for safety" is a crock of shit. You have an air bag in your steering wheel, I'd say it's safer than a quick release hub staring at your sternum. If you want "safety" from someone stealing it, park it in the garage.

I said "safety", did I say it was MY safety? No. I live in Orlando, FL. There have been a lot of car thefts, especially of these cars. So the "safety" I was referring to was my cars safety. I can't park my car in the garage, too much shit in there. Nice contribution to the thread.

Old pic from beginning of the year. Bought the car 3 years ago from an old lady in bone stock condition. Installed 2 ways alarm, stereo and just got a BRM 2.5" exhaust. Will be refreshing suspension bushing and other worn out item. Plan is to keep it as close to bone stock as it is my DD.
I'll post more once I get a chance to wash and detail the car.

My point being that any one that has a clue about stealing a car will buy a hub to slip right on to yours a drive off. Most theives, smart ones anyway, case a vehicle/house/object they plan to steal. That's why parking a car in the garage is a better solution to theft.
An alarm with ignition interrupter or some thing that disables the vehicle is a better option.
Your contribution to this thread was pointless. "Look at this clean car I just picked up, I plan to do this, this and this". Basically rendering it not stock and completely missing the point of this thread.

Lol alright man whatever you say. I'm pretty sure OP was referring to people who actually OWNED the vehicles that they post, so therefore my contribution actually meant something because it is MY car. BTW nice car for sale in PA, maybe if you pick it up and own it, you can have an actual meaningful post in the thread. Like I said, whatever you say man. I'm done.

Heres mine, I replaced the stock suspension because it was blown with KYB AGX's and Eibach Sportline Springs (its much lower than I would like, stock springs are probably going to go back on it) I also did the poly front tension rod bushings and Kouki S14 seats. I DD the car, it gets 26mpg and runs fantastically. The previous owner got the motor rebuilt at some point also.

Here's mine, was just told to come post it here lol
It's a 1991 SE - ~210,000 KMs
5 Speed, HICAS still in tact. The only thing that I've changed from OEM was the struts and springs (just some GR-2s with Tein H Tech springs to give it a ~1" drop).

Be smart and keep it original. "quality" drift car will be drifted into a "quality" wall or gangster ditch at some point and thats all she wrote for the car ever being nice again

Car has had 1 real owner, which moved from the Netherlands to Asia, resprayed it in the OEM colour, gave it to his son, which traded it in immidiantly for a newer car at the dealership i've bought it form. It has full service history.
After i bought it it had alot of neclected work to be done, ie clutch, waterpump failed, cooling system was done for, turbo and manifold seals, oil and so on. Also the suspension and bushes were worn. Even to day i still have some work to do, but i try to keep it stock as possible, with improvements where possible without breaking the out of the factory look.

since my V2 hatch valances are officially off to molding, i put all my V1 parts back on (OEM S13 Silvia Skirts and OEM 180sx Chuki/Kouki valances). missed the simple and clean OEM look :) i also fixed my drivers side rear lower quarter panel a bit. its been hit before and the body shop who fixed it god knows how long ago did a real piss poor job at building the panel back up and used WAY too much bondo. shaved about 1/8th of an inch off and got the body lines back to exactly how theyre supposed to be. now my valances fit my car properly for the first time ever! all of the bondo/sanding work is under the rear valance so its not easily seen.

completely stock for now, have r33 rb26 that I'm currently putting new gaskets, water pump, oil pump...timing belt, etc. Still collecting parts before I start on the actual swap. Will do suspension...wheels...etc. Bought it from the original owner - a 70 year old woman... Bama car originally and then tennessee the rest of its life. Has the cleanest underbody I think I've ever seen on a 240.straight pinch welds and absolutely no rust anywhere.

Just got my red '89 hatch 5-speed going with a dualcam swap. I'm working on getting the cruise control working because that would be sweet! I Originally put the car together with plans to sell it, but I'm considering keeping it. I'm putting so much work into putting this car together right and getting everything working like it should that I just am not sure anyone would appreciate it and be willing to pay what it's worth to me. A well-maintained stockish S13 just drives soooooo nice compared to the thrown together shitboxes you see out there. I'll post pics when I get some!

One of my previous S13's I kinda/sorta miss.
Right after bringing it home.
Broken hood hinges, pea shooter exhaust, clear coat peeling on roof, hood, and rear bumper.

After:
JIC FLTA2's, 180sx wheels, 180sx seats, swapped hood/trunk with base S13 same color, etc.

the 180 wheels!
man that thing was perfect.
When I was in Houston and it was lowered. Being in Houston I decided being lowered was not the best thing for my health or my car, so I sold the coilovers. Waiting to build a simple Koni GC Setup.

I really wish I could find another as stock as possibly SE Coupe, they are all beat to hell down here in S. FL.

While the car is definitely clean, it's not worth anywhere near $15k.
(In my personal opinion) That is one of the worst color combinations available (aside from the blue interior).
Single cam (value/popularity is definitely in the dual cam).
Interesting find, but that'll go for $4-5k on a good day.

Yeah, i was just talking with my coworker and told him the max I'd pay for that would be 4k considering the condition etc even with that horrible color combo.

When I was 17 I got my 240, I sold most of my valuable shoes and worked full time at burger king (while I was going to high school =|) to get it to look like a virgin (besides the exhaust). That dent on the rear quarter panel was so damn expensive to FREAKING fix.

i would never pay 15k for that. 5k, if i needed a 240.
the color, both interior and exterior fucking suck - and i know that from first hand experience. it took a lot of time and money to repaint the exterior and replace the interior. A LOT of time and a lot of fucking money.

I sold one like that with a KA24DE and 90k for $3000. Paint was just a cut/buff away from being in the same shape. Motor was clean as fuck and the HUD worked. That seller was already voted off the Zilvia island. Said the car was 'purchased for him' and then gave me the link to the website. I thought he was lying sure enough that link to a local dealership (had mostly muscle cars) was selling it for $15k. Probably a fucking joke that some dumb asshole fell for before the price was lowered.

when I got this one it was all original :-/, I'm pretty impressed with the ka24de in this, got to 208k and still running when I pulled it, nothing had ever been done to it, nothing in the engine bay was out of place from oem, car was cheap cuz blown auto trans.
I think its pretty cool that the ka made it to 208k with nothing more than chain rattle
I've pulled two ka24e's that were shit with a lot less miles than that
Car is nice option interior with hud too, I'll definately keep the interior pretty stock, even though its tan:facepalm:

Cause posting a thousand of these isn't much fun or challenging.

I also like to passively flush out useless threads to the 3rd page. In all seriousness I believe there's a fine line between some anti-aero and preserved s chassis. I admit sometimes I blur that line but Turboshoebox is a resident stickler on posting correctly and he likes it. I can adjust my posts in this thread for you and the spirit of the original post.

I'm in the same boat here. I inherited a 72k mile 93 convertible and I want to keep it functionally as close to stock as possible. It needs some new paint and new weatherstripping and it will be 5 speed swapped soon but I plan to keep it looking stock. You NEVER seen them plain these days.

I legitimately think this car is too nice for me to modify. I may go with some "period" modifications or..but I'm still debating on it. Would you just look at that fantastic brown interior?!

Thats amazing- finding 89' two tone coupes are just too rare these days in my opinion. They should be preserved for sure.
Anyone looking for a original silver green metallic two tone (seafoam green ?)
In SoCal they never come up for sale, let alone in a manual trans.
This one needs some paint and some love, but it is indeed original and legit in my opinion. Clean title, original single cam and 5 speed.

It's still overpriced. When I got here two months ago they were MAYBE $7k in that condition. Now the best ones are $14k (above) and $19k (blue/grey) due to the mark up. American buyers really fucked the market before I got here. Hard to justify that price for a paintjob, and I say that as a pretty diehard s-chassis nerd. I'd top out at $9k.

It's gnarly how the prices go around here. GTRs are dropping to $12k and they were closer to $20k when I showed up. Those cunts selling them for $20k last year were making a fucking killing since they used to sell for $7k.
I'd be willing to negotiate on the car I posted...but it's not even my favorite color scheme. First world problems, I suppose.

I think it was just under 1000. Still, the creme color is by far one of my favorite and I've known this car from back in 2008ish when my buddy bought it(fairly sure it's the same car). I bought it back in June sight unseen from another friend of mine. I'm still in living Germany....haha.

I'm always happy to see someone leave a two-tone untouched...but please, do yourself a favor and upgrade the suspension hah. That's the only thing that needs to touched to really enjoy it. Coilovers and RUCA are enough to moderately lower the car and still enjoy it.
Saw a two-tone at UpGarage next to a yellow Mercedes AMG GT-S. I decided to act like a totally uncouth American and ask one of the employees if it was for sale. He was cool about it, but told me these cars BOTH belonged to the same person: the manager of the UpGarage I was at. It actually made me happy to know that someone with so much money owns (and is trying to preserve) a two-tone.
On the other hand, found a seafoam two-tone on the local Facebook pages and tried to ask the owner about it. He's not opposed to selling it, but he wants $12k. If no one buys it he's going to "...go Rocket Bunny V2 but keep the color scheme."
Damn.

Once the new place comes around and a custom garage gets built to store all these things, I'll definitely be hunting for a fairly stock S15 to do minor upgrades on, but keep it pretty original. Spec R aero being a must.
That is, if I don't move onto a Porsche 964. The itch is strong.

I don't know what your budget is, but clean Spec-Rs are still fetching premiums.
Something may have just popped up not far from me. Taking a 1hr drive tomorrow...
